chapter 4

I woke up, and Carlisle was in the room.
"Bella" he said in relief.
"Where..where am I?" I stuttered. I looked and I couldn't reconginse the room.
"Bella.." Carlisle said questionly. "you're in our house, in the lounge room.
I loked around and saw that I was. "Okay" I caught my reflection in a mirror. I had stitches down my face, and when I turned, I saw that there were long rows of more stitches down my back as well.
"Carlisle, what happened to me?" I asked, unable to make sense of the black lines of stiching.
He hesistated. "Well, when you were in the room, Edward-"
I cut hm off "Edward! Where is he? I need to go and tell him, I need to see him. This isn't his fault."
I tried to sit up, but the room swayed around. Carlisle pushed me back down gently. "Bella, lay down. You lost a lot of blood. You're very weak."
I conceded. "Fine, but what did.....Edward" it felt strange saying his name like this "Edward...do to me?" I sat up again, but slower this time.
Carlisle moved around to my back and placed his hand on my rib. I winced. "He broke one of your left ribs, and he" his hand moved to my back, tracing the stiches "he gouged your back with his fingers. It was very deep." His hand moved to my face "The same happened to your face".
the room swayed again, and I fell back into Carlisle's arms. "Go to sleep," he mumered, and I did exactly that.

The next time I woke up, it was to see Edwards face leaning over my own.
"Edward!" I said excitedly. then my mood turned to sadness. I leaned into his shoulder and sobbed. "Edward, Im so sorry. Im sorry'
He pulled back, a a mixture of bemusement and wonder on his face. "You're blaming this on yourslef?" he hissed
I looked him in the eyes. "Of course. if it wasnt me, if it wasnt my blood, you wouldn't have lost control. If it wasnt me-"
He placed his fingers to my lips, silenceing me. "Bella, you're blaming this on yourslef?" he repeated "When my hands were the ones that gourged your face, when my strength was the strength that broke your rib? You're blaming this on you?"
He dropped my head and walked from the room.
"What?" I yelled. I sat up, and ignored the swaying room. "What? You dont want to see me anymore. Because I'm ugly? Is that it? Not that I wasn't before, but now im just grotesque Is that it-"
He came over then, and pushed me back on the bed roughly. "Don't you ever say that again." he hissed "Do you want to know [i] why [i/] I dont want to see you? Its because I know that [i]I [i/]was the monster that did this to you! Are you [i] happy [i/] now?"
"Sure," I replied sarcasticly "Im [i] sure [i/] thats why you dont want to look at me. Isnt it because you cant [i] succed [i/]in killing me."
I got up again, and he didnt try to push me back down.
"Where are you going" he asked husikly
"Away from you. La Push maybe. At least im safe from [i] you [i/] there!"
"How will you get there? Let me drive you"
"No. Im not that stupid Edward. You just want to drive me so you can actully [i] kill [i/] me this time. I'll walk"
Carlisle grabbed my my arm then. "Bella, you're too weak"
I slapped his hand off. "Im fine" As I walked to the door I delivered the final blow. "You know, Edward, I used to think you loved me more than you wanted to kill me. But now I see that I was wrong."
I didnt see the look on his face, but I knew it was aginizing

I hadn't got more than 15 minutes into the forest before I collasped
