I open my eyes and see that the sky is now black, and our small bedroom is only lit by the light coming from the other room. I hear the TV quietly playing next door. Jake is softly breathing. he is obviously asleep.

I stand up, and walk to the door way. As I gaze on him, my heart begins to pound in my chest. He looks so sweet with his head resting lightly on his shoulder. like a child who has fallen asleep from exhaustion on the couch. His shoulders shift as he breathes in and out.

I stand and watch him sleep for sometime. Little grins crossing my face here and there as he does something I find sweet and innocent.

Out of nowhere, his body suddenly shifts strangely right as a snore escapes his lips. I giggle lightly but just enough that he suddenly jerks awake.

"Uhh...Ness," he says as he rubs his eyes. "what time is it?"

I smile and walk over to him. "I think about 9pm. Why?"

He jumps up quickly and picks me up, holding me in his arms.

"we have about 3 hours before I have to go with the pack." I begin to understand what he is getting at, and press my lips softly against his. He walks us both to our bedroom, and lightly pushes the door behind us.

~about three hours later~

A light tingle fills my body as I feel his soft breathing on my lips. I look at the clock and see he only has 2 more minutes until he has to run with the pack. I scoot back and see that his eyes are wide open, gazing lazily at the clock.

"you do realize you have 2 more minutes until you have to go." I say looking up at him.

He looks down at me and slyly smiles. "That means a whole minute more of fun. You know it only takes me a second to change when I'm in a good mood."

"Yes and all the more the pack will get to hear." I retort as I grab his shorts off the floor and hand them to him. "Now go brush your teeth, you have some serious breath isues." I smile my self, though with less romance.

He leans in and kisses me, and then hops out of our bed. He walks in the bathroom but is only in there for a few seconds before he becomes quiet.

"Nessie, what is this." His voice sounds distant,surprised,and hurt.

I sit up and look towards the bathroom door. "What are you talking about Jake?" I ask him, worry lines creasing my forehead.

He walks back in the room with something in his hands. My test. "I'm talking about this." His body shifts as he looks up at me, hurt filling in his eyes. "Why didn't you tell me about this?"

I don't know what to say, but only look away. I can feel that he is still just standing there, waiting. After a minute passes he sets it down and walks into the bedroom. "I have to go." he says as he grabs his shoes. he doesn't look at me as he speaks. And before I know it he has closed the bedroom door behind him.

I sit there for a moment, staring at the door. Suddenly I am over come with emotion, and I crumple on the bed, tears streaming down my cheeks.

After crying for an hour, I finally drift off to sleep. Sadness hovering over me.

When I wake up in the morning, I see Jacob sleeping next to me. He must have gotten back while I was asleep.

I sit up and lightly get up out of bed, so as not to wake him. As I slip on my clothes, I glance down at the counter and see the little box sitting there, left from last night. I turn away quickly and grab my brush from out of the top drawer. My hair is a disaster which means that i was tossing and turning all night.

Now that I am clothed and decent looking, i walk back into the bedroom. As I gaze at the bed, I see that Jacob is no longer in it.

I walk downstairs and into the kitchen. Jacob is standing with the fridge open and a bowl in his hands. He does not look at me when I come in.

"Jacob," I say quietly. "please look at me." Even at my request, my plea, he doesn't look at me. he is upset alot more than I thought he was.

"Jake, I didn't tell you because I thought that if I did I would be setting my self up for more of my nightmares to come true. I don't want you to die..." my voice gets high then quiets to a whisper.

he finally glances towards me."What do you mean nightmares?"

I sigh with relief when he speaks to me.

"for the past month, I have been having dreams of a possible future. At first I ignored them, but then they started becoming real. First my lack of thirst, and now this." I pause to take a breath, and as I start to speak again Jake speaks.

"What lack of thirst? Why do you keep hiding stuff from me?" He slams the fridge door shut. Then sets his bowl down on the counter. "I have to go get a part for the car." He says quietly as he walks past me.

I turn to walk after him but he speaks before I can. "Save it Nessie, you've been lying to me and I really don't want to go balistic and hurt you."

"okay." I murmer but suddenly feel sick, and I rush to the bathroom.

After I have finished throwing up for the third time this week, I walk back out into the front room and see that Jake is no longer standing by the door. I look out the window and see that the car is gone.

I want to just give up and cry. I want the happy Jake I love back. he has never been this mad at me. But what can I do about it? I am just an over emotional mess of a pregnant woman, who happens to be on the verge of average human life.

I slump to the floor and lean my head back against the front door. I begin to sob all of my fears and sadness out into one big sop of a mess. I crumple up into a ball on the floor and lay my head in my hands.

My thoughts rack through my brain. The pros, the cons, and most of all, the fight with my husband. I close my eyes and let my mind consume me.

it feels as if I have only been lying here for a few minutes but it has been hours because when i open my eyes again, I see that the sun has risen to it's highest point in the sky.

I hear a knock on the door but I don't have the strength to get up. I just lay there, waiting for someone to get the hint, no ones home.

I lay there for a few more seconds and then hear a car dive away. But just as one leaves another arrives. The front door suddenly opens.

"Nessie?" I hear Jakes voice and for some reason, tears spill down my face. "Nessie, what happend?" He lifts me up off the floor and carries me to the bed. He sits down and clutches me in his arms.

"I got sick," I stutter, "and then started crying, and was too tired to get up." I try to speak as the tears stream down my face. He holds me even tighter as I sob even louder.

I begin to speak again. "I am sorry i didn't tell you what was going on. I just couldn't bare it if something happend to you." I try to calm down by breathing deep, but fail.

"Nothings going to happen to me. " He whispers. I lean into him and rest my head against his chest. I close my eyes but they snap open as I realize I haven't had anything to eat all day.

I look up at him, and get up out of his arms just long enough to get off the bed. "I haven't eaten anything, do you want some eggs?" I ask him lightly as he walks up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist.

"Eggs are good." He says kindly. We walk down into the kitchen. He sits down at the counter, and I start cooking the eggs.

"So catch me up on the things going on with well, everything." I can tell he is trying to be supportive, but I can still see that he doesn't like my hiding things from him.

"Well Grandpa thinks that my pregnancy ties in with the whole not thirsty thing." I start off my whole saga with an ' I'm trying to be positive ' motif.

"Wait so you're for sure pregnant?" He seems truly interested which makes me happy.

"Yeah." I smile at the realization that i am going to be a mom.

He smiles as well. " Wow, I'm going to be a dad." He says to him self, "I'm going to be a dad." he suddenly says with excitement. i feel excited too.

"So your happy?" I ask, wanting a definite yes from him.

"Of course." He sounds truly happy which lightens my mood. "But now back to the rest of the info." he says getting back into a serious mode.

"Grandpa thinks that since we, well, slept together that when the baby formed, our genes combined and overpowered my vampire gene. He says I shouldn't have any vampire left in me by the end of the week." As I watch his face, he seems to get happy again.

"So you would just a be a normal human, but you would still have your gift right?"

"Probably." I say. I am almost happy that I can be a normal mother for my child. No blood drinking in front of my child will be nice.

I look down and see that the eggs are ready. I scoop them up onto two plates. I hand one to jacob and take the other.

"Okay but now I am confused. What is all the talk about me dying?" I hate to tell him about the bad part of my dreams, but then I would just be keeping more secrets.

"In my dreams, or nightmares, you are attacked my a coven of vampires, and hurt so bad. The dreams that i had the nights before you were going to be okay most likely, but in last nights, you died." I struggle with my last sentence. I hate to even think these words let alone say them. Now that I have I feel that they are bound to come true.

"How manny were in the coven?" he asks, suddenly getting a worried look on his face.

I Think back to my dreams and count up the vampires. "There are four or five in my dreams." I hold my breath, hoping that he wont say the words I dread.

"We've been tracking the scents of five new vampires traveling in a group. They keep coming back, but then leaving right after arriving without even killing one person." he looks out the window and i follow his gaze. Some of the pack are coming towards the house. They signal Jake and he gets up from the table.

"Where are you going?" I suddenly ask urgently. "you can't possibly be thinking about going out there can you? After our worst fears our confirmed?" I am starting to talk faster and faster. My head is pounding as he walks towards the door.

I feel light and my world goes black around me.
