While exploring online for any signs of wisdom during this chaotic election season, I was thrilled to discover the politically inspired and increasingly popular comedic series, “THE LIPSTICK LIBERAL SHOW,” on the You-Tube channel LipstickLiberalNet.

Show creator/writer/performer NICOLE MYRICK appears as the Lipstick Liberal, a sexy and soulful lipstick wearing mouthpiece for injustice, using her comedic wit, intellectual prowess, and sassy seductive appeal, to reveal the ‘dirty deeds’ she believes our Republican Leaders are really up too.

Throughout the episodes, the Lipstick Liberal transforms into a Russian spy, a mob wife, a gun wielding soldier and a 1950’s housewife, among other characters.

I recently had a chance to catch up with The Lipstick Liberal (aka Nicole Myrick) to find out more about her witty web series, her contributions to PoliticusUSA and her new campaign to “Save Stephen Colbert.”


HOLLY: For those who haven’t had a chance to check out your politically inspired comedic webseries “The Lipstick Liberal” -- give them brief overview of what they’re missing.

Democracy is common and somewhat popular among many people all over the world, yet people give it too much credit.

The one who can delude the people best is the one that gets most of the votes, weather or not he is really a good leader. A charismatic leader such as Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin might have used their charisma to win over voters in a democracy assuming they had not already made a reputation for themselves as an evil dictator. Imagine also Oprah whatsherlastname running for president, she probably has little to no political experience and yet, she can win over voters by pure popularity and charisma, and yet she would most likely not make a good leader.

Another thing is the campaigning, they all say anyone can run for president, but this is not true. Any given person who wants to run in any democracy has to have either money or the right contacts, and hardly anyone has those kinds of contacts or money. Only the aristocratic then can run for president, keeping the middle and lower classes out of politics, then it tries to claim to be the most fair of all governments.

Extremists are usually very vocal in their demands and beliefs while the moderates seem to sort of just stay in the background. Most of the time primaries are dominated by the extremist factions of either party. Candidates have to tout their conservative or liberal credentials because it's usually the really conservative or really liberal who vote in the primaries.

So in that sense they do dominate the parties. Obama was more liberal in the primaries than in the general election and certainly while in the office. Giuliani lost a lot of support because he was twice divorced, pro-choice, and mayor of a northeastern city. That didn't appeal to the core of the GOP which is usually southern conservatives.

We see now how the tea party people basically took the house from the Democrats. So they did gain a lot of influence.

Yet, we see both parties reach an agreement on the tax reform bill. And I'm sure that in the coming months many would moderate their beliefs in the House. Because in the end if both parties do not reach an agreement on anything, both will pay for it in the 2012 elections.
