Chapter Twenty
Glory tried to look around Damien as he bundled her out of the car.
“Where is here exactly?” She asked again.
“ I thought I told you not to worry about that.” Damien grinned at her and gripped her arm, steering her toward the large building. Glory grimaced at the sight of the dingy looking place.
“Sure is some place of luxury. I thought such powerful people would have a better place.” Glory probed sarcastically.
Collin snarled and took a step closer but Damien just laughed and pulled her to his other side, away from Collin’s half shifted form.
“ You’re pretty tough, aren’t you? Most girls would be sobbing their eyes out and begging to be released. You just go along with everything. Why is that?” Damien asked, his blue eyes questioning. Glory narrowed her eyes but figured it was a harmless question.
“ I know they will come for me. I know that I will get away from you and this place and look back on this time. And when I do look back, I don’t want to see some weak, helpless female. I want to be proud of how I acted.” Glory explained, her heart kicking up as they entered the building.
“ Very well spoken.” Damien looked surprised for a moment, but then his eyes darkened. “ but I wouldn’t be so sure about looking back. When Nicolas gets done with you, there will be nothing to look back on.”
Glory tried to swallow but her throat had gone dry.
“ Oh how nice. You brought dinner.” Glory jumped in surprise as a female appeared out of the shadows.
“Not quite Camille.” Damien’s voice held a hint of hostility.
“ Oh, no delivery tonight? I suppose ill have to go and find something to eat myself.”
Glory shuddered. She was almost positive they weren’t talking about actual food. Their food consisted of humans. Glory blinked in shock as Camille finally appeared out of the shadows. Red hair fell to her waist and a slinky black dress hung on her every curve.
She watched, eyes wide, as Camille’s nostril’s flared as she inhaled and two delicate teeth indented her full bottom lip.
Glory bit back a groan. Of course. Vampire.
“Don’t get any ideas, Camille. This is Glory.” Damien acted as if her name should mean something.
Camille stiffened and her eyes tinted red before her two elongated teeth disappeared. When she smiled, her teeth looked stunning. She could be a model.
“ Ah, so you’re the famous Glory.” Camille swayed closer, looking every inch drop dead gorgeous. Her high heels tapped out a rhythm as her swaying turned into a stalk.
“Camille, as much as I’m sure Glory would love to get to know you, we have business to attend.” Damien snapped and guided Glory a few steps forward.
“ Of course.” Camille’s tinkling laughter seemed to echo around her head even after Glory was walking down the hallway.
The hall faded into pitch black and Glory stumbled.
“ Whoa. Watch your step Sweetheart.” Damien gripped her arm and pulled her to a stop.
“What are you doing?” Glory asked, frantically trying to see in the darkness.
“ Its ok, sweetheart. Just relax.”
Glory pulled in a shaky breath and tried to do what Damien had said. Her stomach dropped as she got the sensation of falling.
“ Whoa, easy.” Damien said, his voice surprised as Glory grabbed his arms. “ We’re just going down, Glory. We’re on an elevator.”
“ Oh.” Glory breathed in relief.
The doors slid open to reveal a hall way paved with cobblestones. A horrible sense of déjà vu hit her. This was the same hallway as her dream.
“ Wait, no! No! I cant go out there!” Glory screamed and threw herself back against the elevator wall.
“ Hey, hey.” Damien soothed as he brushed a lock of hair off of her forehead. “ You’re going to be ok, sweetheart. The dream was just to scare you. You’re not going to die.”
“Yet.” Another voice filled the elevator, full of commanding power.
Damien pulled back from Glory quickly, and a stone cold look filtered over his features. He stepped aside, letting Glory get a good look at the newest addition to their group. It was the same man as her dream.
“ Glory, meet Nicolas Gonzalez.” Damien said, the caring air of his voice completely gone.
“ Ah, so this is the famous Glory. Many people have been looking for you, my dear.” The same sharp brown eyes and groomed black hair expressed the man that literally haunted her dreams.
“ You.” Glory hissed the word.
Nicolas’s expensive looking clothes swept behind him in flourish as he led the way down the cobblestone hall.
“ Please. Help me.” Glory whispered toward Damien as he grabbed her arm and jerked her out of the elevator to follow. He narrowed his blue eyes at her and she felt herself leave the ground. She kicked her feet helplessly as she floated a few inches off the ground.
“ Don’t ever suggest such a thing to me again!” Damien hissed and she slammed up against the damp wall.
“Be still!” Nicolas roared. Damien froze and released his mind control. Glory slid to the ground, moaning. She raised a shaky hand to her head, touching her throbbing head and then ran her fingers down the scratch on her cheek.
“ No harm will be bestowed on this girl unless I order it! Do you understand me?” Nicolas’s voice was slow and deadly serious.
“ Yes. I understand.” Damien replied, his head bowing in submission.
Glory watched the exchange, fear making her heart pound in her chest.
“Come along, my dear.” Nicolas motioned a hand and Glory was set on her feet. Glory shot Collin a grateful look but cringed as he clenched his jaw.
“Collin my friend, why do you dislike our dear friend Glory so much?” Nicolas asked, amusement dripping off his words. Glory glared and she flinched in surprise as raspy words came from Collin.
“ It’s sickening how they look at each other. She would do anything for him, and he would walk around the world to get to her.” Collin’s gravely words grated on Glory’s nerves.
“ Really now? I had no idea our young star struck lovers were so close all ready.” Nicolas glanced over his shoulder, his Latino features darkening dangerously.
“ Yes. Its horrible. It makes me sick to my stomach.” Collin’s voice reminded Glory of something in need of greasing.
“ Glory, we need your knowledge for our future planning. Will you be willing to share the information you know?” Nicolas asked, pausing in front oh what seemed to be an door.
“ No.” Glory spat out venomously.
“ I had a feeling it would be this way. Damien, escort her inside.” Glory struggled uselessly against Damien’s strength as he manhandled her through the door. She entered a room that looked like a hollowed out room of a cave. That was freezing cold. She huffed out a breath and watched it appear in front of her.
“ It’s freezing in here!” She managed to get out from between chattering teeth.
“ Is it?” Nicolas looked around like he hadn’t noticed. “ I supposed to a mere human it may be. But for us Vampires and Shape shifters it isn’t bad at all. But this might make you rethink your decision.”
Nicolas chuckled as Glory tried to pull away from Damien. Her eyes widened as she spotted a metal pole drilled into the rock floor. They had used this pole before, probably for the same torture method. She shivered in the frigid temperatures.
“Damien, please. You cant just leave me here.” She whimpered as he snatched a pair of metal handcuffs of the ground next to the pole.
“ I can and I will.” He gripped her shoulder and forced her to sit down, leaning against the pole and she gasped as the freezing rock bit through her jeans. He wrenched her arms behind her back and put on the handcuffs. She groaned as the freezing metal bit into her skin.
“ Now, be good and we might be back in a couple of days.” Damien smiled at her and patted her on the head.
“ No! Damien wait!” Glory pleaded as he walked out. The iron door swung shut with a bang and everything went black.
“No!” Glory screamed through chattering teeth. Her body was starting to convulse in shivers. She looked over her shoulder and could barely make out her hands in the dim light. Her hands were turning a light shade of blue. She had no idea how long she had been down there when she first lost consciousness. When she awoke again, she felt as if she was on fire. Sweat poured down her, soaking her back. Glory blinked, trying to comprehend what was going on. A thought came to her. She had a fever. That was the only explanation. She was stuck in a freezing cave-like room. There was no way she would be sweating. She strained against the handcuffs, but her strength was gone. That’s when the seriousness of the situation hit her. She was in trouble.
