OOC: Just a little one-shot I did in Chemistry class, about Demon and stuff, thought you might enjoy. ;)
So it’s her fault. It’s her fault that she can’t move, that she can’t breathe, that the liquid spilling onto the floor is blood and that her heart isn’t beating and yet she’s still here.
It’s her fault that she’s left everyone behind, that her brother is frustrated and in anguish because he wasn’t supposed to lose two people this time, and he for sure wasn’t supposed to lose her, but she isn’t lost.
It’s her fault that she ran into him, that he brought up memories she didn’t want, or very much need, and it’s her fault she lost control. It’s her fault he panicked and shot her in the chest, and that it wasn’t her time, and she couldn’t come back. It’s her fault the universe works like that, and now it’s her fault that she’s finally losing her grip.
It’s her fault that her parents are gone, that they’ve fallen and they’re broken, but for some reason she’s worse. It’s her fault she was brought up incorrectly, that she so naively allowed herself to be taken away from the authorities by him. It’s her fault she has powers, and it’s her fault that it hurt to get them. It’s her fault that she stole for him and went against everything she believed was right, and it’s her fault that when she finally was found, she opened herself up so willingly.
It’s her fault she made friends with them, that she fell in love once, twice, and maybe three times. It’s her fault the fourth time it may have actually worked out because this time he hadn’t been a fake, he’d really liked her.
It’s her fault that she died, once or twice, and she’d brought a kid into the hearts of everyone. It’s her fault that little 8, no, 9 year old girl looked up to her as a mother. It’s her fault that the girl took up the title she left behind on her 15th birthday, the day she quit. It’s her fault that the second version has lost her only parent as well, and there is nothing that can fill the void, not even the brother of the parent or the sister.
It’s her fault she lost her sister.
And sitting there on the floor, a part of her was absolutely sure this was correct, that everything was her fault, that she’d done it all. And another part said, no, it wasn’t, it was Ryan’s and Nathan’s and Zucco’s and Chelsea’s. It was Adrian’s and Bruce’s and Dick’s and Kenzie’s. It wasn’t hers.
Sitting there wasn’t helping her or them though. Laying there in her own blood and being unable to tell the difference between the next world and this one, it wasn’t helping anyone. She couldn’t comprehend that it wasn’t her fault for some things, like this, but for others, it may or may not have been.
She could have stopped him from making her angry, or she could have dodged the bullet. She could have been smarter when she was smaller, and refused the man, or she could have been just a little more secretive when she met them. She didn’t have to be so mad at Bruce for absolutely nothing, and she didn’t have to go and quit. She didn’t have to have relented into Kenzie’s pleading, and she could have said no to her ‘daughter’ and not allowed her to be so bold, to put herself in so much danger. She shouldn’t have fallen in love at all.
But it was a little too late for that now. Right now she was dead, to everyone, just like Artemis was supposed to be, but she knew Artemis wasn’t, because Dick’s acting skills just weren’t that good, and neither were Kaldur’s. But Artemis was the only one who was supposed to die tonight, and it was supposed to be fake, but she had gotten shot, and this was very real.
And she contemplated her last 18 years of life up until the point where she was seeing her parents and anyone else who she’d loved and who’d left her, like that civilian from two years back from the building where her powers had failed her, and Danna, who’d gone when she’d turned sixteen.
So she turned and waved to the real world, where Dick and Kenzie were crying, and she told them not to worry and she had to go, and Kenzie started screaming that she couldn’t, but she had already gone. She was no longer on earth, to most of them, so to most of them she wasn’t coming back.
But the forces of nature and the universe and assassins have mysterious ways, and to these forces she wasn’t dead. No, to these forces, Kyra Grayson was simply in suspended animation.

Brendan stood in his Navy uniform in silence.
"Why....why did you do it?" He pulled off his hat, and stared at the memorial, it was a tribute to the fallen soldiers. Brendan dipped his finger in black paint, and started writing his friends name on the wall. They begged you not to go into this. You knew it was suicide mission, escpically with your powers. She begged you gods sake. I don't get why you did it...but I guess you made your choice. Tears slid down Brendans face I guess, you felt it was your place, to take that spot. But you brought down a evil force, a force so strong, that only you could break it. The Government will pay. They'll pay for what they put you through. I swear I'll avenge your death. Brendan wiped his hands clean and walked away. He had thirty-hours until he boarded the submarine, that's when his plan went underway.
Anyone got any idea who sacrificed themself?

Excerpt-
"Is this cool or what?!" the teen exclaimed more than asked. His companion merely grunted a reply barely audible over the cheering crowd.
"Oh come on! How can you not like him?!"
"Do I really need to tell you again, Parker?"
"Yes."
"He's an eccentric, playboy billionaire who goes out at night and--"
"And?" Peter asked, smirk plastered to his face.
Sam grinned. "Ah, you're right." He frowned again. "I still don't like him."
"Whatever." Peter said, waving his hand absentmindedly.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, Samuel Grant!"
The crowd burst into fresh cheers as Sam walked on-stage and shook the billionaire's hand. "Pleasure to meet you Mr. Stark."
"He's a natural actor." Peter shrugged.
