“It's not a big deal! You're being so demanding!”
“You promised me you would be home before hand!”
“I got caught up!”
“You should have called us!”
“You're not my parents!”
“But you are in this family! You need to listen when we tell you things!”
“Why do you care?! You're NOT my mom and you never will be!”
“Room! Now!” Fang interrupted.
Irra shot him a glare but marched off, mumbling about angels and mischief. She slammed the door to her room closed and sat in the top corner of her bed.
“Stupid foster parents!”
She took the hat off her head and ran a hand through her short dark hair. She sighed angrily. The door to her room opened slightly and Lexi peeked her head in.
“Can I come in?” she whispered.
Irra sighed and nodded. Lexi came in and crawled up on Irra's bed.
“Are you okay?”
“No, Lex.”
“What's wrong, Irra?”
“Your parents.”
“Did you guys get in another fight?”
“Yeah. They got upset because I was an hour late from hanging out with my...friends.”
Lexi patted Irra's hand.
“It's okay Irra. They just love you.”
Irra smiled a bit.
“It's not that easy Lex. I'm not someone who can be loved.”
“Why not?”
Irra leaned back and looked up through the sky light.
“I am not a good human being.”
“So?”
“I've done things that are not forgivable Lexi. I'm not perfect.”
“Neither is this family. Even if daddy thinks mama is.”
Irra smiled slightly. Lexi lay down beside her and cuddled close.
“I don't care what you did. I love you Irra. You're my sissy.”
Irra hugged the little girl and kissed her forehead, eyes closing.
“I love you too Lexi.”
