I sat on the beach, watching the clouds roll in. There was a storm coming alright. I was stranded out here. I sat near the cliff face, curling in a ball to stay warm. Then thunder boomed and the rain started. Lightning flashed over the ocean and thunder crshed over head. The rain turned into a downpour, soaking me to the bone. I didn’t think it could get anyworse; but of coarse, it did. Lightning stuck closer and closer until it hit a nearby tree. I ran over and used my katana to cut down the tree so I could stomp out the fire. Lightning struck again, missing me by a couple centimeters. I felt the heat off it and flinched. It was like nothing else I had ever felt before. I heard someone calling my name.
“NIGHT?!WHERE ARE YOU?!” I heard. I ran towards the voice. It was the boy who I kicked in the face.
“What do you want?” I screamed over the rain.
“Get inside” he yelled back. The hairs on the back of my neck rose. I ran at the boy, tackleing him to the ground right before lightning hit.
“Thanks” he gasped
“I figured I owed you one for kicking you in the face” I replied “Yeah sorry about that. Now get inside before you get fried”
“What about you?” he asked
“I’ve survived worse” I said “Now go”
I pushed him along to the door then shoved him inside. Lightning struck about two feet away. Again, only a foot away this time. I raised two fingers up to the sky, knowing I was the next target. The lightning rippled through my arm as I pointed it to the left, directing it towards the water. I took a deep, pianful, breath. Not a good idea to redirect lightning with a headache. I ran towards the cliff again and sat there, cuddled in a ball. It was around midnight when the storm passed by and I finally had the chance to get some rest. I never did. I spent the whole night, sitting against the cliff face, awake. When the sun started rising, I climbed back up the cliff and sat on a ledge to watch the sun rise. I sighed. I would have to get moving today. Not yet though. For now, I would sit and watch the sunrise. Something about today’s sunrise was different. It was brighter, more promising, like today would be a good day. I climbed back down the cliff face and did something that most people would call stupid. I knocked on the door. The girl with the cold eyes answered.
“Listen, I know we got off to a rough start, but I would be very grateful if we could start with a clean slate.” I pleaded. She looked at me with cold eyes then smiled. I smiled back.
“A second chance” she said “That sounds reasonable”. We walked in and she took me to a room where I could get washed up and change. After a quick shower, I put on some clothes that the girl gave me.
“What’s your name, anyways?” I asked
“My name is Artemis” she replied kindly

Somewhere in the Arctic, 4:49 a.m.
Nathan curled up on the rocky floor of the dark cave, protected from the snow for now. He'd found a piece of rock chipped off from the edges of the cavern and had somehow created a spark that had ignited into a flame. How it was sustaining, well, he didn't know. But it was keeping him warm, and for that he was grateful.
It suddenly dawned on him that he felt immensely drained, nearly useless. His heart wasn't beating as fast as usuall. Pushing himself up, he went to find a pool of ice, to see what was wrong. What he saw shocked him: his hair had turned to it's orginal mocha hue, a sign of no powers.
He sighed, and realized with a jolt he was in a cave. A cave... and the last person he'd seen was the Batman's daughter. This small fact slightly amused him, but amusement turned to worry. "Fin..." he murmured. "Why can't you see past what I've done? Why can't you see that I love you?"
