I hugged Miles tightly.
I groaned, slowly I opened my eyes. It was cold and dark. I was sitting upright, my ankles and wrists were strapped down to the legs and arms of the chair. I felt like one of those creepy detective movies where the detective wakes up in a mysterious place. "Hello?" I said in my singsongy voice. "Anyone here?" The room was dim. I could very faintly make out one thing. The janitor bucket. "I'm in the lab?" I whispered.
Immediately a great sense of alarm rushed through me. Where was the team? I struggled again, this time trying to melt the bars. But nothing came out. "Wha-" I was cut off by a blinding light emanating from a opened door. A darkened silhouette stood in the door way. It took a few steeps toward me. "Having fun?" I gasped. "Zach?!" My face burned.
He chuckled under his breath, "Do you want to know why you are here?" He flipped a light switch, revealing Zero leaning against a wall, smirking. "ZERO?!" I practically screamed. It scared me so bad that I flipped over the chair I was strapped to. They both burst out in somewhat girlish giggles. "Yeah! Real mature, dweebs. Why am I here anyways?" I snapped back at them. Zero lifted the chair up. "You are here because you are bait." He said calmly. "What happened to the 'I think you need a break, Nova?'" He laughed. "Sush, Nova, all will be explained." I didn't notice that Zach was behind me. I felt a cold rag cover my mouth. "Mmmnnnmm!" I was trying to say, 'What the heck? What happened to the calm Zero?' But it didn't turn out that way. I tried my powers one more time, nothing. What was wrong with it? Zero started his lecture, "I was originally going to have Zach erase your mind, but when we found out that the teens had escaped, I remembered how you said you had talked with them, and I got an idea. 'Why not use her as bait?'" I let out a questionable moan. They got away?
I was able to wiggle the rag down onto my chin. "Zero, you are pretty darn stupid to think that I would draw them here, we just talked nothing else! Its not like we really got to know me or anything! And yet you still think they will come?" I blurted out. "Shush!" Zach snapped. "Zach! Why are you here anyw-" He put the rag back on. I groaned. Zero chuckled, "Reese, they will come, just give it time. Oh yes, and just in case you were wondering why your powers weren't working, my office and this lab are lined with tin. For some weird reason, it blocks your powers. Anyw-" Before I knew it, he was on the ground, unconscious. Kid Flash walked up to me, smiling. He pulled down the rag. I laughed. "Why? And where is everyone else?"
"They're a bit slower than me." Superboy jumped through the ceiling, creating a large hole. Everyone else followed. Including Miles.
He ran over to me. "You did this?" I asked. "Yeppers." He broke the restraints. "Your powers should be working now." I flexed my hand, letting out a ball of red fire. "That's better!" He laughed. I gasped, staring straight at the team. They were all crouched down, screaming in agony. Miles looked also. He stuck out his hand, creating a force field around them. I ran over to them, reaching through a gap in the field. I grabbed Miss Martian's hand, pulling her to her feet. "You ok?" I asked. "Yeah" She gasped out. "Why did you come back?" She smiled, "You helped our escape, we help you." Robin grabbed my shoulder, turning me around. "Are you ok?" He shook me by the shoulders. "I'm fine!" I laughed. "What was that?" Artemis shouted. I gasped. "Zach. He probably got away by now, but I'll find him." Superboy stood up. "You need out help?" I grinned and put my hand on my hip, "No, I think Miles and I have everything under control." Miles ran up to me and gave me a hug. "Well, if you ever need any assistance, we are just a phone call away." I smiled. "Thanks. And you might want to leave now, because I don't want any reminder of this place." Miles laughed. "You aren't-"
"I am. Time to burn this place down!"
"And don't worry, we'll take are of Zero." Superboy said. And with that, they dragged him onto a giant plane-ish thing. I stuck out my hands, and sent massive streams of fire out. I hugged MIles tightly. "Lets go." he said. "Ok, but this time, no more kidnapping. For anyone." I laughed.
