Artemis watched Talon with daggers and tears in her eyes. She turned on her heel, exiting the room. She found her way up to the roof, sitting on the stairs. She allowed her tears to fall, not even knowing why she was crying. She herd footsteps and hoped the person would go away.
“Artemis!”
Damn! Artemis tried controlling her tears as Adam came up beside her.
“Artemis, what's wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“You're lying.”
“I am not!”
“Whatever Talon told you isn't true.”
“What?”
“If Talon told you we've been dating, it's a lie. She likes to think we're dating, no matter how many times I deny it. I'm not quite sure what she told you, but she shouldn't have made you cry.”
Artemis looked up, not caring that the tears were still running down her cheeks.
“Why do care so much for me? I barely know you yet you've put up with me better than anyone else has. Why?”
Adam looked away for a quick second, taking her hands in his. His eyes met hers and Artemis saw the same intense look she had seen last night.
“Artemis, I realize we don't know anything about each other. But I'd like to know you more. I care because, despite all the strength you show, your vulnerable. And I don't want anyone else to see it.”
“Why not?”
“...Because I care too much about you for any harm to come to you.”
Artemis looked up at him with confused eyes. Adam sighed.
“Artemis, I want to care for you. I want to be there when you fall and be able to pick you up. I want to have the chance of seeing you just because I can. I want us to grow closer, know more about each other. I want you to trust me.”
Adam bit his lip before quickly giving Artemis' lips a kiss. He looked at her, a small smile on his face. Artemis stared at him in surprise.
“I like you Artemis. And I want to see if there's anything to it.”
