Billy approached the mountain, holding Willow closer and bending over her.
“Hang on,” he said.
He ran faster and Willow could feel him vibrating. He ran straight for the mountain and Willow shut her eyes, waiting for impact. When nothing happened, she opened her eyes to find herself inside the mountain, still in Billy's arms.
“How'd you do that?!” she exclaimed as he set her on her feet.
Billy grinned.
“Vibrated my molecules. If I'm caring something-or someone-I can vibrate their molecules too. Kinda like phasing through. But more scientific.”
“That was amazing!”
“Willow?”
“Megan!”
Willow headed over to he martian and looked back at Billy.
“Come with me!” she offered.
“Shouldn't. Star City needs my speed factor.”
Willow laughed, waving her fingers as she held out her hand.
“C'mon.”
When he hesitated, Willow grabbed his hand, dragging him with her.
“Megan. How are they?”
“Still stable. All but Becca. She's going fast.”
Megan opened her eyes, staring at her friend.
“Who's this? And how come the computer didn't announce your arrival?”
“Megan, this is Billy also known as Speed. He's Star City's own speedster. And I'm not sure about the computer.”
“Heh. I do. When I vibrate through solid objects, I can send out a small electrical signal. It tends to switch off the electricity for the nano-second I'm speeding through.”
“Well, that answers that. But I have news.”
Artemis B-07
Artemis walked in, Adam at her side.
“Who's this?” Megan asked again.
“Megan, this is Adam. He helped Willow and me the first time. Who's this?”
“The name is Speed, also known as Billy Thompson. I helped Willow out when the LexCorp thugs decided to throw a party.”
“Okay? So Willow what's the news?”
“Billy knows who Masq is!”
“You do?!”
“Yeah. Masq...she was my best friend. A few years back, her parents died. She completely disappeared from the face of the Earth. I saw her again a year ago. I was doing some work and was almost killed. She saved me, but only because she wanted me to work with her. Said she went to this place called Attalin and learned sorcery. When I refused, she became my enemy.”
“You said she came from Attalin?” Artemis asked.
“Yeah.”
“Interesting...”
Billy gave her a confused look but Willow spoke up.
“We'll talk about that later. Right now, we HAVE to find Masq! Becca doesn't have much longer!”
“Where to?” Adam asked.
Everyone looked at Billy.
“Masq may be villainous, but I know where she'll be right now. Adam, you know where the old mansion used to stand in Central?”
“Yep. The old Schaffer place, right?”
“Yeah. Head over there. If my guess is correct, that's where she'll be.”
“Okay. Ready?” Adam asked, facing Artemis.
She nodded and Adam wrapped his arms around her waist, her hands locking behind his neck. His wings came back and he flew through an opening in the mountain. Billy looked at Willow.
“You ready?”
“Yeah. Megan, are you coming?”
“No. I want to make sure I'm here when Becca wakes up so she doesn't flip out.”
“Good idea. We'll be back soon.”
Billy scooped her up again and they left with a sonic boom. Megan looked back at the others, tears falling down her cheeks.
“Please be okay.”
