One thing I had to do before starting this was fix a small problem that I had created. The timeline has Lilly giving birth a month or so after Humphrey’s supposed death, meaning she would’ve gotten pregnant around the beginning of Missing Parents.
The reason she had to be pregnant during this time was because Jax, Jonas, and Martin had to be roughly the same age as Stinky, Claudette, and Runt, which means they had to be born as soon as possible after Legend. However, it’s very doubtful that Lilly would’ve gotten pregnant in the aftermath of Humphrey’s death as everyone would be taking that time to grieve for him. So, I had to push it back into Missing Parents and Lilly being pregnant was obviously not in the story, so I had to go back and add it. About a month passes from the beginning of Missing Parents to the end of Legend so it would be impossible for anyone not to notice she was pregnant at some point in the story, which is why I couldn’t just ignore it.
I got the idea to do this from a supposedly true story I heard, and I greatly emphasize supposedly. From what I heard, this guy was out camping and found a wolf with her paw stuck in a trap. She didn’t let him come close to him, so he pitched his tent and for three days just sat with her, bringing her food and trying to keep her calm. Eventually, she let him get close to her and he was able to free her paw from the trap. Again, I have no idea how much validity that story has, but I still thought it was a cool idea.
I added Jax, Jonas, and Martin as a little extra boost for Lilly to eventually trust Lucas. Lilly bringing Lucas back to the pack to show them that not all humans are bad was something I kinda had to do since they had to trust him when he showed up at the end of act two of The Final War.

“… And they lived happily ever after! The End! So how’d you like the story, pups?” Humphrey asked excitedly, having told his first ever bedtime story. The pups however were fast asleep and snoring softly. They were obviously tired from a long day of exploring, Humphrey thought. He then turned to face his Alpha wife Kate and his mouth hung open, shocked. Kate had fallen asleep as well. She had rolled over on her back, her mouth wide open and snoring loudly with drool hanging from her mouth. “Man, I suck at story time!” Humphrey yelled out.
