I led Liz down the stairs, even happier than before. I was positive that, if I was being honest with myself, that Liz was the real deal. I smiled at her, suddenly anxious. What if this freaked her out and she ran? I don't think I could live through that, but I did promise her, and I couldn't break my promise. I wanted her to know everything about me, absolutely everything, except the worst part of my life. Those horrible 10 years where I was really a monster, when I drank human blood. That memory keeps me from doing it again, that is why I've fought so hard to keep from that, not to mention I would never want to let Carlisle down. All of these thoughts passed through my mind in a second. We walked through the doors.
"Would you like to experience my kind of transportation?"
"Meaning?"
"I like to run, so does the rest of my family."
"Like Cross Country or Track and Field?"
"Something like that."
"Uh, that would be awesome."
"Climb on."
"You mean, like a piggy back ride?"
"Yeah."
"Okay,"she said as I helped her climb on.
"Carlisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, meet at the clearing now,"I said, just above a whisper.
"What?"
"We have supersensitive hearing, so they could hear me, even though they were all inside the house and I spoke at a normal conversation level, if not lower."
"Cool."
Wow, so he could hear me even if I was inside the house and whispering? That is so awesome, I wish I could do that.
"We also have great sight too. I can see every vein in every leaf on that Maple tree,"I said pointing to a tree more than 100 feet away.
"You can? That is really cool."
That would be so cool, to be able to see perfectly. I mean sure my eyes aren't that bad, perfect 20/20 vision as a human, but vampire eyes are way better.
"Let's run."
I pulled into an easy run, letting her get the full feeling of running. I listened to her thoughts as I ran.
Wow! This is really fast, and the air, that's even better, it feels like I'm flying. It feels so natural. Like I'm riding on a motorcycle that's going 200 miles per hour. It is one of the best feelings I've ever had.
The run was over too fast. In just a matter of minutes we had reached the clearing where we played baseball, and fought the newborns.
"If you want, you can watch us play baseball."
"Vampires play baseball,"she asked skeptically.
"It's the all-American past time. Besides, it's fun. Of course, we have to wait for a thunderstorm."
"Why?"
"Because when we collide, we make a sound like a crashing bolder or thunder, and it's quite loud,"I stated as the rest of my family arrived.
It's time to show Liz what we're made of.
