“House?” a voice from behind made House turn to see who was it. The old yet familiar voice brought not only question in his mind but a cold feeling that ran downward along his spine. When he finally faced the person that he was certain that he knew, he was happy to know that it was Cuddy. After several years, he finally got the chance to she her again since her marriage to John, the marine soldier House treated in Season 3, since they moved to Michigan and stayed there for good. He walked towards her as she wears a smile.
House: <still in disbelief> I still couldn’t believe that you’re here in front of me…
Cuddy: <smiling> me neither. I stopped by Wilson and he said you’re here so I followed you.
House: Great. You hungry?
Cuddy: Not at all but I think this conversation will take a long time so a coffee may do.
They headed to a nearby coffee shop from where they were standing. At first, both were still too uneasy to ask the other about his/her life but at the time goes by, they were able to open up themselves again after several years.
House: So what brought you back here in Plainsboro? Work?
Cuddy: <after taking a sip from her coffee> Let’s just say I need a break from my work back home.
House: <smiling> Oh. So, how are the things working on between you and ----
Cuddy: John. <smiled> Well, we’re okay, we’re doing fine although sometime, we fight but c’mon, who doesn’t?
House: Uh-huh. ---- Any kids yet?
Cuddy: <her face saddened but still managed to smile> We have no luck on it. We tried almost all ways to have our own but still --- <they’re silent for a while> So, how’s your leg?
House: <looking at his limp> Still the way when you left the hospital. Still painful but Vicodin is the one keeping my feet on the ground. <he looked at her again and they’re quiet again>
The next day, House burst in through the door of Wilson’s office. He sat down on the couch as Wilson stared at him before their conversation started.
Wilson: You’ve seen Cuddy? <House nodded> How far have you guys have gone?
House: <sighed> Nothing much. She did all the talking as I sat down ---
Wilson: Still impressed, bedazzled and --- hurting.
House: No I’m not. Even if I am, I can’t wreck the marriage she have right now. She’s happy with that idiot and there’s no way to take her back.
Wilson: Yah expect for the fact that Cameron and I met last week and we’re talking about Cuddy’s divorce.
House: <looking surprised at Wilson> Wha – There’s no divorce. She’s happy. They’re doing fine.
Wilson: Cuddy’s here in Plainsboro to file it. Just to make the process easy, she file it here since they’re married here.
House: She’s fine. Maybe leave in a week or two back to Michigan to work again.
Wilson: Fine. Maybe you’re right, maybe we’re right. Either way it won’t change anything, does it?
House was silent and didn’t bother to answer. He knows Cuddy so much that he ended up believing that she’s perfectly happy with her husband but in some parts of his heart are intentions to believe in what Wilson had just said before him.
Two weeks had passed but House can still see Cuddy around the streets of Plainsboro. He gave a thought that maybe she’s staying here for a month but soon he realized he was wrong. A month turned in months already. Cuddy now stayed in her former work state for nearly four months and during those days, she and House would go out but only as friends like before. It was on this late afternoon when House learned the truth. They were silently seated on a bench in the park for almost an hour but they haven’t gone far aside from talking about their good old days as co-workers. House noticed the smile of Cuddy but he knew behind them were tears about to fall.
Cuddy: I miss you <House looked at her> for being a pain in the ass. <He smiled> I miss the way you storm in my office urge me to approve medical procedures just for you to solve your puzzle. <sighed> Sometimes I wanted to ask myself, why would I allow you to break in an MRI machine, bicker a patient or harass them until they make the right choice but whenever you save a life, I have no more questions to ask. But even if I wanted to go back here, I can’t. <Cuddy stood up facing the man-made lake and House looked at her>
House: Why do you do this? <he now stood and Cuddy faced him>
Cuddy: Do what? <he moved closer>
House: You’re not happy in Michigan with John.

House: Knock it off, I know you. Why stay there and suffer if you can go back here ---
Cuddy: And what? --- What made you say I’m not happy with my husband?
House: Haven’t I said I know you? --- You’ve already stayed here for nearly four months, ALONE. Any married women would have gone home two weeks after they left the house.
Cuddy: Okay, you get it. John and I are having a rough year. I decided to go here to unwind, that’s all. I’m making plans to patch things up with him.
House: Just admit you’re not happy --- <Cuddy started moving back to the car but House grabbed her arm so she stopped> --- If I say that I still love you, would it change your plans?
Cuddy looked at him and said nothing. She’s trying not to show her weakness but tears started building up in her eyes. House lifted up his hand to wipe her tears but he grabbed her instead, moving her close to him. As he wrapped around his arms around her, Cuddy once again found the place she knew her heart belong with.
