“Oh my gosh!” I stood up. “Kagome.” I ran and hugged her. I had tears running down my face. I stepped back and wiped the water from my cheeks.
“Oh I haven’t seen you if forever.” She said, squeezing my hands. I turned around and walked with her towards the group. They all had their mouths hanging open. Kagome and I laughed.
“Uh Kagome,” InuYasha said. “What’s going on?”
“This,” she said, gesturing to me. “Is my twin sister Kyoko.” I waved. “She has been in America for the last year and just got back today.” She turned and faced me. “So, I’m guessing you meet everyone?” I shook my head.
“We never really had time to get acquainted,” I said. “The only this I know is that one, demons are coming after me, two we are in the past, three, they are not human,” I pointed at InuYasha and the fox boy, “four his name is InuYasha and five he slams to the ground whenever I say si-“ I slapped my hands over my mouth before I could finish the words.
“Thank you.” InuYasha said, sighing in relief.
“Well then let me fill you in.” Kagome said. “That’s Miroku, he’s a monk.” She pointed at the man who had grabbed my butt earlier. “But,” she whispered. “He’s also a lecher.”
“I already knew that.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest. Miroku laughed nervously.
“That’s Sango.” Kagome said, pointing to the woman with the giant boomerang. “She’s a demon slayer and that is her demon cat Kirara.”
“Hey.” Sango waved and her cat purred.
“And this,” Kagome said. “This is Shippo. He’s a fox demon.”
“That would explain the tail,” I said. I suddenly fell to my knees. My side started hurting really badly.
“Are you okay Kyoko?” Kagome asked.
“I-I think so.” I said, trying to stand up. I fell back on the ground. I squeezed my eyes shut tight as the pain increased. I felt myself being lifted onto someone’s back. I opened my right eye to see InuYasha running through the field back towards the village. I laid my head on his back.
At the village, the woman named Kaede checked my wound again and gave me some herbs for the pain. Kagome walked in and sat down next to me.
“Hey,” she said.
“Hey back,” I said, wrapping the blanket around my legs. “So how long have you been traveling here?” She explained that two weeks ago, she had been dragged into the well by a demon and had meet InuYasha who was stuck to a tree. Then, this thing called the sacred jewel had come out of her, but now it was shattered and she had to find the pieces with InuYasha and the others.
“Well,” I said, after she had finished. “I want to help.”
“What?” She said, caught by surprise.
“I want to help,” I repeated. “I can’t let you run around and have all the fun now can I.” I smiled and nudged her arm.
“Yeah I guess so.”
“And,” I added. “If you’re a reincarnation of this priestess named Kikyo then wouldn’t I be her reincarnation too?”
“That’s true,” she said. It only took one day for me to recover from the scratch I ad gotten from that demon. I had always been a quick healer. Kagome and I went back through the well so that I could grab some stuff that I needed. I grabbed my backpack and filled it with everything that I thought I would need. Extra clothes, a bathing suit (because I personally don’t want anyone staring at me while I’m bathing), shampoo, soap, and anything else I thought could be helpful. I was about to leave when I suddenly remembered something. I walked slowly to my closet and opened a little secret door. I pulled out a long black box with a golden strip down the side.
I walked back over to my bed and sat down, holding the box out in front of me. I took a deep breath and slowly took off the lid. I took out the thin sword still in its sheath. My father had given me this sword when I had first started to take martial arts lessons.
“This is a very important sword.” He had told me. “It was made from the teeth of a demon 500 years ago. It is one of the strongest swords in the world. But, don’t use it until the right time comes.” This is defiantly the right time, I thought. I fastened the sword to my left hip and swung my backpack over my shoulder.
“Come on Kyoko. Hurry up.” I heard Kagome call from downstairs. “InuYasha gets mad when we’re late.”
“Coming.” I sad, taking the stairs two at a time. I met Kagome in the hallway and we ran out the door, yelled a quick goodbye to the family. We ran to the shrine around the well and opened the door. We walked down the steps and stood in front of the well for a moment. I took a deep breath.
“Ready?” Kagome asked, holding out her hand.
“Ready.” I said, nodding and taking her hand. We both jumped into the well.
