"HA! You just got your butt kicked, Kyoya! Admit it!"
Gingka playfully laughed at Kyoya. They were just outside the stadium, and the two had just had a battle between one another, and Gingka had once again triumphed against Kyoya's Fang Leone.
Kyoya ignored him and stared at the concrete below him. Once again that idiot had somehow defeated him. Why was he even friends with this dude in the first place? He had no idea, but before he could fire something back at Gingka, Madoka gasped and pointed at a girl, laying in the street, unconsious.
"Oh my god!" Gingka ran up to her and turned her over. Her hazel eyes fluttered open, one of them black. "Hmmm?" she groaned, as though just awakened. "What happened..." and when she realized her surroundings, she jumped to her feet, flinging Gingka to the ground.
She took a glance around, then looked down at Gingka. "Oh, my goodness! I'm sorry! I'm just so confused, I-"
"No, it's okay." Gingka stood up. "But...why were you laying in the street?"
"Agh...all I remember is this guy in a black cloak backing me into brick wall then knocking me out cold with his cane..." she turned around to look behind her. "But...when he did, I was in that back alley, not here. That means I must have moved btween the time I was knocked out and now...but how-"
"Wait, wait, wait. You're saying, someone beat you up for no apparent reason?" Kyoya interrupted.
"No, I believe there was a reason...but I think the man must have knocked out my memory or something, 'cause I can't put my finger on it..."
"That's terrible..." Madoka remarked. "there must have been a good reason for it, otherwise he's just plain mad."
The girl shook her head. "Lots of people are. It seems that in this day, everyone is so focused on war, that they have no time peace. People need to learn how to-" she was cut off and suddenly broke into a fit of coughing.
"You okay?" Kyoya asked, staring at the girl inquiringly.
"I don't think-" she coughed again then managed to croak "-so."
The girl let out a gasp as though she was being choked, then collasped on the ground. Gingka and Kyoya pulled her back up.
"You okay?" Kyoya asked again, concerned.
"Get me to-" she coughed again. "the hospital."
"But the hospital's closed." Madoka daid.
"Then we'll take her to my place." Gingka said, then glanced down at the girl. "That okay with you?"
"As long as I can rest," said the girl. "I'm fine."
"Wait," Kyoya burst in. "don't you have a place of your own?"
"I don't know...I can't remember."
"well, looks like you're coming with me, then! Gingka tried to cheer the girl up, but she seemed lost in her thoughts.
"Anyway, what's your name?" Madoka asked. "I'm Madoka."
"My name is Esma." the girl said. "But I seem to have forgotten my last name."
"That's okay." Madoka smiled."You just need a little rest. Then you might remember."
And the four headed off home.
