Kowalski and the others rushed out of the H.Q. When they reached the zoo's exit. They stopped immediately. "Marlene, you can't go any farther." Kowalski sighed. "Okay, but tell Skipper…" Marlene stopped.
"Wha?" Rico asked.
"Nevermind, good luck!" Marlene said.
Kowalski nodded and led the others on. "Are we there yet?" Julien groaned. "DOES IT LOOK LIKE WE"RE THERE!" Kowalski shouted frustratedly.
Mort scurried behind King Julien's feet in hiding. "Wow," Rico said stunned.
Kowalski realized that snapping at Julien won't solve anything. Lowering his head into his flippers, he signed. Rico patted his back. "What if we don't find them?" Kowalski worried. "fhsdkghd," Rico answered comforting his friend. "You're right, Rico. We will." Kowalski smiled confidently.
---The abandoned factory---
"Wait, Private, how did you find me?" Nigel asked.
"What do you mean? Didn't you send me that letter?"
"You can't still believe your failure uncle sent you that. It was me!" The Red Squirrel shouted.
"Oh dear, Skipper was right. He's probably not even looking for me." Private started crying hysterically.
---The alley---
On his knees holding the feathers, Skipper thought terrible thoughts of what could have happened to his Private. "I'm sorry, Private! You were like a son to me." He was blubbering so hard, that didn't see who was coming up behind him.
---Flashback---
Years after Private getting adopted. He came back, but didn't remember them. He was just too little to remember. Since he was his commanding officer, Skipper had to be tough on Private.
---Factory---
"Private, you can cut the 'nancy cat act' now. He's gone." Nigel whispered.
"But it's not an act! I am nancy cat!" Private whimpered.
"No, you're not!" Nigel couldn't think of his nephew as a nancy cat.
"Yes I am! I have a lunacorn toy I sleep with, I'm terrified of badgers, and ... and -"
"If you were a nancy cat, you wouldn't have come here! Even if you were, you'd still be my favorite nephew."
From a distance the Red Squirrel's voice attracted Private's and Nigel's attention. He was yelling at some one.
"You thought you could save your ninny friends, but now you're doomed to share their fate." The Red Squirrel shouted.
Looking to see where the camotion was coming from, Private saw something that would have been in his nightmares. Skipper limped in sight beaten and bruised, as if he had been a victim of a horrific assualt. His flippers were tied behind his back, and he was being shoved by the villain. He looked at Private with a sorrowful expression deep inside his eyes. The squirrel opened Private's cage and pushed Skipper in. Losing his balance, the strong leader fell in front of Private's feet.
"Skippah!" Private cried.
"Private, I'm okay." Skipper lied, not able to look at his soldier. He tried to get up but fell down again."I'm just a little dizzy, and tired."
Private hugged his leader. "Don't leave me, Skippah!"
"Never, but Private no matter what happens you need to be strong. Don't give up, promise?"
"I promise, but, Skippah, do you think we'll die?"
It was silent.
Skipper didn't want to answer. "Private, I've always thought of you as a son."
"You've always been there for me, like a father, Skippah. I'm sorry for arguing with you."
"I want you to know that you're not expendable and that I would never."
"I know,"
The two penguins hugged, until the Red Squirrel returned.
