Skipper stood at Marlene’s cave entrance, right between the inside and outside of her cave, where Marlene couldn’t see him. Maybe she doesn’t remember, he thought, but who could forget when someone was being mean and rude to you? He felt like he had this big burden resting on his shoulders.

Still wondering whether to go in and apologize or whether to chicken out and go home, Skipper’s foot accidentally protruded into Marlene’s cave light.

“Skipper?” Marlene asked curiously, wondering if the foot she saw sticking into her room was his. She was sitting on her bed, ready to go to sleep.

The foot froze, wondering if it should move. Then, cautiously, Skipper’s entire body moved into the cave light where Marlene could see him.

“Hi,” Marlene yawned. “So why did you come here for?” Marlene looked warily at him, wondering if anything psychotic was going to happen next.

Skipper stared, trying to find the right words. “I, uh, guess I owe you for all the times…”

“You left me in the cage, ditched me in the plastic volcano, stepped on me, ruined my cave, busted everything I owned, accused me of having cooties, shocked me about a billion times, made fun of me, called me a moron, not caring a word that I say, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!” Marlene had interrupted Skipper, and she was practically yelling when she finished.

“So, yeah, for being a jerk. I’m really sorry,” Skipper said, finishing his own sentence. “I owe you, a lot then.” He took a deep breath. “So, anything I can do…?”

Marlene smirked. “Well, you could always clean up my room from your last adventure.” She waved her hands around to indicate the mess his team had made, but had not cared.

Skipper sighed, not feeling much like a leader now. “Okay, so I’ll start by gluing back your mug first…” He picked up the glue beside him.

“Or,” Marlene interrupted, “Kiss me.”

Skipper stared at her. Marlene stared back. “What…?” Skipper asked, not sure he heard right.

“You heard me.” Marlene wondered if this was a good idea.

“Well, since it’s better than cleaning…”

Skipper went and kissed Marlene, right on her lips. Once they broke apart, Skipper said, “So, was that good enough?”

Marlene hugged him. “Okay…” But she still had a mischievous smile on her face. “But you still have to help me clean up my house.”

“What?!”

“You heard me! You owe me a lot!”

“But I thought that was all!”

“No! C’mon, I’ll help you.”

And laughing, Marlene dragged a complaining Skipper to fix up her home.

A/N: Okay, the end. MAN I almost chickened out in publishing this.
Rico missed his doll.

He missed the plastic female that was always just the right size for a warm hug; her long, blonde hair, her silent and mysterious personality. She was probably the only one that truly understood the lonely penguin. Everyone else seemed to just judge him; but not her. She accepted Rico for who he was, and nothing more. She never argued with him, and she always allowed Rico to have the first word in everything. If only there were more women like her.

But there wasn’t; only her…

This was all very stupid. Pointless. Irritating. Depressing. Frustrating.

Rico could think of...

Note To Self,

Tonight, Skipper decided to avert our attention from the gloomy situation by screening a variety of films. The majority of which included documentaries of different sorts of animals. Skipper seemed to have skipped the penguins’ film. I can’t blame him. The contents of that video were horrid beyond belief. Anyway, Rico appears to be well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has already started to feel at home with Marlene. I can’t very well say the same for me, though. I miss him. But, I’ve also discovered something about our relationship. I admit that my actions towards him...

Damn it!

This was the peak of things…

It was time to confront this lust that had yet to take flight. But how would he do it? Kowalski couldn’t simply step out and say it!

Say what?

What would he even say?! Should he say anything? It seemed to work well for Rico!

This was much too difficult than it should have been. Why was it so damn hard?!

It was his fault; this ridiculous, complicated process of thought. This would never work out; he and Rico. They were so different from one another. He had often heard that opposites were more likely to feel attracted to one another, but this was going crossing...

“I’m sorry, Skippa…‘fraid I can’t remember…” Private whispered with his head low. The small penguin had received quite a waking that morning. He didn’t even have enough time to leave his bunk when Skipper and Kowalski confronted him. As promised, Skipper hadn’t asked a single question about Private’s disappearance and injury until now.

“C’mon, Private, you can’t really expect us to believe that!” Skipper narrowed his eyes with a frown spreading across his beak.

The timid penguin shyly moved to sit on the edge of his bunk, his head retaining its low position. From the...
