As someone who doesn't buy ANYTHING from iTunes unless it's free, I've figured out how to get the best stuff for free. I've listed my Top Ten favorite Apps for iPod Touch (which I own) and iPhone.
10.) Pogo Games by Electronic Arts
Free app that gives about 5-6 free games. Play online for some competition! If you have a Pogo account, you can also earn tokens!
9.) Flashcards* by Jeff Holiday Software (also available for iPad)
This app is great! You can download different flashcard sets simply by searching for a topic or you can create your own. It's great for studying.
8.) Movies by Flixter with Rotten Tomatoes by Flixster (also available for iPad)
Stop watching bad movies. This free app will give you showtimes for movies in theaters in you area, as well as reviews of if the critics liked them. So stop watching bad movies.
7.) Merriam-Webster Dictionary by Merriam-Webster Inc.
You have no more excuses for not knowing the definition of a word. With this free app, you can look up a word either by typing it in or saying the word. Pronunciations for every definition. No internet connection required.
6.) Angry Birds Free Apps by Rovio Mobile Ltd.
Well, who doesn't love Angry Birds? You can get many free levels with editions of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio. It's Angry Birds, but free (not that there are less levels than in the paid version but definitely worth it!)
5.) Skype by Skype Software (requires front camera with sound)
Skype. On the go. What more is needed?
4.) tv.com by BCS Interactive
Watch your favorite CBS TV shows on the go for free! Everything normally on their website on your iPod or iPhone!
3.) iBooks by Apple (also available for iPad)
Books on your device! How awesome is that! While you do have to pay for many of the titles, many others are free. You can read most classics like Alice in Wonderland and Pride and Prejudice on your device. Great!
2.) textPlus Free Text and Group Texting by GOGII (also availible for iPad)
Get a free number to send free text messages on! Great for adding to your current plan or using instead!
1.) Talking Friends (Ben, Tom, Gina, and others) by Outfit 7 (also available for iPad)
Will entertain for hours. Say something and the Talking friend will repeat what you say in a funny voice. Great for young kids (they say much more with these apps)
Just remember, you can get tons of great and useful apps for free. You don't have to spend a ton of money.
