Hometown Chapter Two
Making friends was going to be hard. I was kind of a shy person or I thought I would be since I haven't ever had to make friends before. But maybe this lacrosse team was all I needed. But to the looks of these girls around at this school, it was a slim chance that I would be able to make friends with them. If they don't like playing sports then they cannot be friends with me.
Lunch was over so, I went to class.
"You're in my seat," some boy said.
"Oh, sorry," I said blushing.
"Nah, I am just messing with you," he said laughing.
"Oh okay," I said, "it wouldn't be the first time I have taken some else's seat before."
"Stinks being the new kid but it will get better," the boy said with a smile.
"It always does. I'm pretty good at being a new kid at aschool," I stated.
"That's fun. So, you move around a lot," he asked curiously.
"Yeah pretty much," I stated.
Class started and he was unable to reply. Could this be the boy that was playing lacrosse earlier? This guy was a bit smaller than what the other boy looked like. It didn't matter; at least someone talked to me today. There has been many of days where I have gone to school and no one has said a single word to me. But I survive and move on. But if I wanted a life after high school, I need to talk to people. I need a life right now. I sit at home way to much. I know more about sports then I do about being a girl. Let's just say dad is a sort fanatic and it grew on me. Dad never notices I am at home becaise he is constantly working. School was over and I lingered around a little bit to see about the lacrosse team. I wondered if they were any good.
I hurried home after I watched them practice lacrosse. I felt like I was being a creeper. I mean who sits there and watches a bunch of guys pracitice lacrosse? Especially, when no one knows who you are.
As soon as I got home, I washed up, and started fixing dinner. Dad came into the kitchen. He had that look on his face like he wanted to make conversation. That was the last thing I wanted to do.
"So, how was your first day of school," he asked.
"Fine," I shrugged.
"Just fine," he asked confused, "did you make any new friends?"
"Nope," I said quickly, "thanks for going grocery shopping."
"No problem; I can start going for now on if you want," he suggested.
"No, I can do it," I said.
"okay," he said and left the kitchen.
Dad and I's relationship was weird. We talked very seldom and if we did most the time it was about dinner, money for groceries, or something about sports. But other than that we did not talk at all.
After dinner I cleaned the kitchen and went to my room. I had had enough solicalizing for today.
The only thing I hated about starting a new school was dad liked to move around in the middle of the school year. It made it difficult to catch up different schools. Everyone had different things to learn about at different times. I had a lot of homework to do for this school. It was awful but it kept me busy and to myself.
The next day of school was easier. I knew what to expect from everyone and everything. The day just seemed to go by a little faster than yesterday. I kept to myself as usual. By the time lunch roles around, I was itching to go sit outside. It was way too nice to be sitting inside. These people seemed to not care at all that the sun was shining and it was a wonderful day!
The lunches at this school were the best. Better than any other school lunches I have had. A kid walked passed me with his lacrosse gear and walked towards the field. He was pretty tall and looked very athletic. He had probably been playing sports his whole life.
School passed by slowly. I still had not talked to anyone today and no one talked to me. I just wanted friends. This was going to be my home and I could not make any friends. I hated this part about my life. I mean everyone has friends when they come to school. Everyone but me. I watched new kids come to school after me and they fit right in. I had made friends a long time ago. They said they would keep in touch when I moved and after few days the text messages stopped. No one wanted to be my friend. I thought I was a pretty normal kid but I guess I was not cool enough to hangout But is But thankfully it was time to go home and start on dinner for dad.
I went to the bike rack outside the school and unlocked the chain. I looked over my shoulder at the field and they were all practicing. I wished I knew more about lacrosse and how to actually play the sport. I never played for the school or anything. Someone had left an old lacrosse stick at one the houses I use to live in. I went in the backyard and just tried tossing the ball in and out of it. It was a lot harder than it looked.
After they finished their practice I went home to cook dinner.
"Hey sweetie, how was school," dad asked as I walked in through the front door.
"The same as always," I said.
"Okay. What did you do after school," he asked.
"I watched lacrosse practice since there isn't anything else to do," I stated.
"Are you going to join the team," he asked prying.
"Probably not," I stated,"I better get dinner started!"
"Okay sweetie," he said smiling and left the kitchen.
Dad and I have never talked so much before. This was starting to freak me out.
Thankfully dinner was over and dad said he would clean up. I went and finished my homework in my room.
My life is so boring and dull....
