Hòla people of the Heroes of Olympus spot!
Since Amph came back she wrote an article about the rules of this spot in general. So here I go with rules pertaining to one particular domain that matters very much in my heart: the fanfiction.
First up, here is the article Amph wrote and if you haven't read it, you must go now.
link
Now here are the rules of Fanfiction
1 You fanfiction must be posted in the forum section. You have got to put them there or else we've got 20 million articles about parts and your reader will give up because he or she won't be able to keep up.
2 Use Proper spelling and grammar. For goodness sake here, you're writing! As boring as it is, grammar and spelling are parts of writing. If you spell every word wrong, your reader might think you don't care. Of course typoes happen, and different words are spelled differently in different places. And of course nobody is perfect, I shouldn't talk here. But please run a simple spell-check and reread! It won't hurt you, I promise, and it does wonders!
3 Rate your story There are people of various age groups here. We have the little 7 year olds who read over their big sister's shoulders, the young adults, the teenagers, the tweens, maybe we even have a grandma! Either way, do you really want little Nelly the 9 year old to read some certain words she'll repeat because "Percy Jackson said it!" Answer: you don't. So rate. It's really simple
YC - This is the kind of thing where all goes well and that Disney could make a movie out of. NOTHING bad
C - We're getting into the popular ratings. No bad language, no adult themes, but there is violence.
T - The ocasional swear word and/or some mature themes.
M - There will be violence, bad language and mature themes. Simple as that.
If you aren't sure about certain words, here's what the admins came up with:
-Dang
-Damn
-Arse
-Hell
-Hades
-Oh my god
-Oh my gods
-Bull (as long as there's nothing after)
-Fag can be used in the context of cigarettes
-Bitch can be used when you're speaking of a female dog (not about Drew- I don't care how accurate you think it is)
Anything that you're not sure about, think about it for 0.5 seconds. Would your teacher send you outside for saying it? Still not sure? Contact one of the admins, which includes me.
If you abuse of one word like 'fag' to insult someone's race, nationality, gender or sexual preferances I'll be reaching for the report button before you type it. Yes I am that good and that serious (seriously, I will, and others will as well, report you)
And you are HELD to that ratting. If you put it under C and Piper lets something slip, you are personally responsible for Nelly being in her room. Do you want that? Not either. Oh, and your other readers will also report you as "Miscategorised". Right readers? (this is your cue on how you report fanfictions who don't correspond with ratings)
And to all my felow not-the-oldest-people-around, don't be a Nelly. If it's rated M, don't go there. Just... Don't.
4. You need the right formality at the beggining of your story
It should look like this:
Title: [insert your title]
Rating: [insert your rating]
Type: [what type of story? Romance, mystery, horror, adventure, real? You can have more then one]
Characters: [Name the main characters that reapear often, but if you created a character it's an OC and you say it. If the character was hinted by RR, write "introduced by RR" or something in that category. When I say hinted, I'm talking about Gwendolyn, Hazel, Bobby, the Reyna and Dakota from the Lost hero, or characters like, say, Bobby and Matthew Chasse who haven't really been developed yet, just named]
Synopsis: [get your reader interested, but don't give your ending away. Like on the back flap of a book, it doesn't have to be long, it could be one breath-takingly emotional quote]
Disclaimer: [No matter what your dreams tell you, you didn't create Percy Jackson or Heroes of Olympus; so give the guy who did create it, RR, credit. Ex: The story base, character and settings base was created by Rick Riordan, who owns the Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Heroes of Olympus rights.]
A/N: [Author's note or dedications. When you dedicate you don't have to say "to my brother Shaun", you can just say "to my brother" or "to my brother Dave". Nobody will hate you for changing your brother's name or keeping it quiet on the Internet.
5 You cannot abandon a story That aggravates me very much! If you started publishing, it's your job to finish it! You can take a break but you can't completely forget about it, especially if your last chapter ended with something like "And my eyes were frozen on her body" because your readers will want to strangle you for not telling them whose body. Imagine RR doing that to us right now. Mm-hmm...
6 You cannot copy from anybody This is like a "duh" rule. Characters, plotlines, ideas, everything! If you fell in love with the character Eileen Rasburt from another writer's fanfiction and you have to use her, ask the writer for permision. If he/she says yes, don't forget your disclaimers and thank yous. Changing a name or eye color won't work if the character is the same. If you accidentally did that, go straight to the writer and apologise right away, it's better he/she hear it from you. If you get a warning from me or another admis (see Amph's article) and you don't react, there will be reporting.
7 You can't have a duplicate name
So of course by this I am reffering greatly to the "Son of Neptune" fanfictions that are on this spot. You can no longer name a fanfiction like that no matter what RR said the book would be. From now on, name the forum differentely. It can be a similar name like "The Child of Neptune" or "Neptune's son". But no more "The Son of Neptune"s! You can barely find the discussion forum with all the fanfictions.
And do you really want to write another Son of Neptune story, or maybe you should concentrate on that other one about that other demigod you thought about. I'm not trying to discourage anybody or tell you not to write, but think about it.
They will be reported as spam after 1 warning from now on.
8 You cannot only write fanfiction If you start a fanfiction and the only time we ever see you on the spot is when you upload your fanfiction or advertise for it, we've got a problem. There are sites made especially to post writing and fanpop isn't one of them. This is a spot to theorise and wait for the book. NOT a fanfiction only spot. A club was created on fanpop for all the fanfictions. If that's why you're here, go to:
link
If you are one of those people please either move your fanfiction, participate in the club or delete your forum and post on another site. Here are two.
Wattpad (which I reccomend): link
Fanfiction.net: link
Now hear me out, if you post some other content and comment on things, you don't fall in the category of people, so don't feel guilty!
9 You can't have more then 4 fanfictions going
On this spot, if your name is on more then 4 of the still-actively-posting forums, you'll have to drop down. It's too much work for a human being and you'll just get uninterested and drop them. I don't care if you've got 7 on the HP spot and 5 on Wattpad, you can't have more then 4 here.
10 You cannot advertise your story on another forum or with articles If you pop up on another writer's forum and say "check out my story!" or "I've read better" it's plain rude! Don't do it, it'll be reported as spam. And you can't post an article about your fanfiction on wattpad or whatnot, you can't post articles about your characters unless you have a really good reason and are willing to talk to me or Amph (who is in charge of articles) about it first. I (or she) will tell you whether or not it is worth it.
11 Songfics, poetry, stories with 1-3 chapters and 1-scene stories CAN be posted in the articles
It's not worth creating a forum for, so there. You still need a formality at the beggining but seeing as it's a short story it's simpler
Title:
Rating:
Disclaimer:
A/N:
*You can add a sypnosis, list of characters, type etc. But seeing as a story is short you don't have to.
12 No Lemons Not on this spot please, at all. It doesn't matter what ratting you give, but stories about nothing but dirty are probably;
a) Irrevelant to Percy Jackson, I mean, they're demigods they sort-of have to do more
b) Most of the people on this spot won't be able to read them.
And lemons will be reported.
13 You have to think about it before you start a fanfiction.
Think about these questions:
1) Am I really interested?
2) When will I have time to write my story?
3) Is my story a copyright issue?
4) Will I keep going? (notice the underlining)
5) Will I keep enjoying writing?
6) Will I follow the rules as they are established? (If you wont then don't bother because you'll just get people mad at you)
13 rules and they are easy to follow. But there is another one, that even you non-writers have to follow.
14 Flammes are not tolerated. There is a thinn line between constructive critisism and a flame.
Basically a flamme is just bashing a story and having a go at the author personally. Constructive critisism has as an aim to help the writer make the story better.
If you flame-up on someone and you don't look like Leo I will report you with a cold heart and evil glare at the screen. If you've already been sworn at or attacked personally, you know it's not a good feeling and if you haven't, trust me on it; and I hope it stays that way.
PLEASE follow these, and PLEASE help people follow these (especially admins). I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or if the user randomexample really isn't cooperating. Trust me, we'll find a way to fix it.
So have fun writing, have fun reading and have a good day,
Hecate

It was not on
Olympia's bucket list to get stabbed, and then get stranded in some stupid summer camp with an even stupider name. last time she had actually been conscious, she had been on a cruise ship in Bali. But noo, she couldn't have any fun without getting stabbed. Hooray. She crawled into the camp , she knew she needed help but not from them, especially not after last time she had been...Don't think about last time she chided herself, concentrate on surviving. She looked up, and standing before her, a boy with tousled hair and sea green eyes smiled at her, ''Hey, he said ,my name's Percy, and everything is gonna be ok.''
I know it's not Christmas but just read it please!
