It took me awhile to understand this all. Jeb, the old man, tried to explain it to me. Hey continued to call me "honey" and "sweety". It made me uncomfortable, no one ever called me that. My father didn't even call me that, let alone any of my other relatives. I kept stealing glances at everyone, Kyle, Ian. Kyle and Ian looked a lot alike, they could have been twins, but Kyle was taller and stronger.
I kept peeking at Wanda, I was afraid of her, even though I wanted to hug her. She looked like one of my friends that I would greet with a hug, but she was a soul. She was my enemy.
We where walking through the desert, I made them stop to get my water and my things, which wasn't much. I only had water, and a bag that was filled with alien medicine and a cheap jacket, just in case I got cold.
When Jeb noticed I was peeking at Wanda, he patted her back once.
"This here is Wanda, or Wanderer. She's a good soul, she is. She's helped us out, she couldn't hurt a fly," he grinned at Wanderer, from ear to ear.
I still didn't believe them -- I didn't want anything to do with Wanda. I hadn't spoke much, I was too fascinated by how many humans where here.
"Are there more like her?" I asked, adverting my eyes from Jeb to Wanda, to Ian who was attached to her side. They walked right next to each other, their arms touching often.
Kyle was the one to answer this time, Jeb opened his mouth, but Kyle answered. I glanced over at Kyle, who spoke.
"There's one more, she's like Wanda, she couldn't hurt a fly," Kyle said in a deep voice. I nodded, then looked away from Kyle, then back at Jared and Melanie.
Melanie had the pink line on her neck.
Immediately, this freaked me out. I sucked in a quick arm, she noticed, then hid it with her dark hair. She began to explain.
"It's a long story, but there is no soul in me." She said quickly, then looked at Wanda. Why did everything lead back to her? I turned to look at Kyle, Ian and Brandt's neck. They didn't have any pink lines and their eyes where human eyes.
I would want an explanation, obviously, but not right now. First, I wanted to get to were we where going.
"How long have you been rebelling?" I turned towards Jared, who had spoke. It was a stupid question, for about five years. Ever since I heard about that invasion.
"About five years. Once I heard what was going on at the hospitals..." I let my voice trailed off -- it was a bad memory. When her father had decided that they weren't going to give themselves up, they all loaded up in the car.
It wasn't long before the Seekers had found their car, we where all alone on the street. We had been on the run for about a year, then the Seekers had found us. I will never forget that day.
We where just cruising down the road, once we noticed the Seekers, my father crashed into a tree, but not on purpose. I was the only one to make it out, I wasn't hurt. My brothers rushed me on, kept telling me to run. I left my dad and my brothers there to be turned into those things.

-CHAPTER 3-

I took the fragile baby into my arms, being careful not to break her. She was so small, and so liveful. She looked up at me, and did something that looked like a smile. I smiled back at her, and kissed the top of her head. Brandt watched carefully, but he smiled, too. Wanda looked at him in amazment. What had I done right?
Lissy was a beautiful baby. She had soft caramel hair, and blue eyes like Brandt. Her hair, which she didnt have alot of, was done up in two tiny, baby pink ribbons on the top of her head. She had a baby pink dress on with a yellow butterfly on the chest pocket....
