The tiny ballerina figurine
As unique as an owl in winter
As beautiful as Christmas morning joy
It stands alone, looking at the other toys in the girl's room.
She remembers when she first got her.
Her birthday.
Will never forget her reaction.
Other dolls came and went
But not the little figurine.
She dances slowly as the girl falls asleep
Her porcelin skin cold and shiny
Pretty white tutu dress
Always ready to dance and bring happiness
One day she was ignored
Weeks and days went by
Her owner, forgetting her presence.
The girl grew more, and her nightlight went
Making the ballerina feel scared and alone.
The girl had sleepovers, and her friends would
Play rough with the figurine or criticize it harshly.
The poor ballerina
So alone and fragile
Years went by,
The girl grew up more and more each day.
Dust developed on the ballerina
She became more alone each day.
One day, the mother came
She asked the girl if she wanted to get rid of the figurine
She said she still likes her
But when she wanted to put her in a different place,
The figurine fell on the floor!
On the hard wood floor she lay
Broken and sad
Superglue was still not enough
To heal her broken heart.
