Chapter One- First Day of School Sucked Beans
Ky Daniels wrapped his muscular arms around my waist. Kasey, Bruce, Lacey, and Jonas were right behind us. Kasey Michaels was making out with Bruce Turner while her brother Jonas was lip locking with Lacey. Finally, we were all back together again.
Last summer, the guys went off to some summer camp for weeks while Lacey went touring with her metal rock mom. Don't tell Lacey or her mom, but her mom will never be famous again and should just give up the career all together. It was just Kasey and I all summer. It was nice to have everyone together again. Even if it is because of school.
I stared up at Riverview Academy. I had some good and some horrible times at this school. I can't believe I'm already a Junior. I would have enjoyed the moment for a little longer except Ky was steering me towards the doors of the school.
I couldn't go in, not yet. My hair was probably ugly or my lips were too glossed. I can't possibly go inside without checking with my girls first.
"Is everything okay?" I glanced back and forth between Kasey and Lacey. They both nodded their heads.
"What about me?" Lacey started tugging at the brown bun in her head. It was much better than her usual high ponytail. Her athletic attire is more fashionable than her regular school clothes. She is lucky to have me as a best friend.
"Stop pulling it," I scolded as I removed her hand from her hair. "You are going to ruin the bun. Now leave it be."
"I hate buns," she mumbled.
"Can we go now?" Ky started whining and pulling on my arm.
"You guys go first," I dismissed with a wave of my hand. "Go check out the practice schedule." I knew my boyfriend too well because he was already through the door, bounding down the halls with Bruce and Jonas closely following.
"Boys," Kasey said with disgust while her dark blue eyes rolled around in their socket. "What about me? I'm trying to waterfall braid without my sister's help. It is a lot harder than it looks."
"Cool, Kase, you look fab, like always," I complimented. We were finally ready to enter the building.
I know what you are thinking. You are probably wondering why we care so much about how we look. I'll tell you why. It is simply because we are popular and we have a reputation to withhold. I mean, who are these fashion victims going to look up to? Certainly, not themselves. I would commit fashion suicide if that happens.
Kasey, Lacey, and I strutted down the hallway to our homeroom class. People were slamming into lockers trying to make space for us to walk. How considerate are they? I'm glad they remember who their leaders are. It is splendid to see that the summer didn't wipe their entire memories. I would hate to have to break in the rule on the first day of school.
We found Ky, Bruce, and Jonas arguing with Zeke Sanders and his meaningless crew near our homeroom class. Zeke and his crew are the only ones in school who refuse to follow our rules. They are like stubborn puppies. You have to keep reinforcing the law and pray that they will eventually get it.
Zeke and Ky have always hated each other. I have now clue why but I don't care enough to question. When Ky gets into warrior mode, I try to stay clear of him. He is prone to breaking things like lamps, walls, or bones. Zeke and Ky were staring into each other's face. I heard a bit of the words that Zeke hissed at Ky. I am not going to repeat them. If you heard them, then you wouldn't want to repeat them either.
"Guys," I shouted. A fight on the first day of school was not going to help anyone. "Break it up. Come one Ky, we have to go to History. He isn't worth it."
"Yeah, listen to your girlfriend," threatened Zeke. "I would hate for her to have to witness that pretty face of yours get rearranged until it is unrecognizable."
"Shut up, Zeke," shouted Jonas. He was next to Zeke's friend but Jonas already had the friend in a headlock. The guy stopped struggling and I feared the worst.
Since I am basically the alpha among the girls, I knew I had to control the situation before a teacher showed or the girls get involve.
"Go to hell, Zeke, and back off him. Jonas, Kasey, Lacey, Bruce, and Ky get your freakin' butts in that classroom before a teacher comes." The girls listened but Ky was too heated to move.
Zeke started laughing and moved farther away from us. "Tell your wife to chill. We'll finish this later Daniels." Zeke winked at me and walked away. I shuddered. Those stormy grey eyes were creepy. I don't need those winking at me.
Ky whirled around towards me. His blonde curls whirled everywhere as those dangerous chestnut brown eyes glared at me. "Thanks for embarrassing me. I don't need you or anyone else telling me what to do."
His words stung me, but the worst part was that everyone in the entire school was watching us with intense curiosity. My face turned a bright red as I stalked off to the classroom. Kasey and Lacey both shot annoyed looks at Ky. Ky never came to close. He probably ditched.
*****
It was already after lunch and still no sign of Ky. Maybe he is mad at me. He shouldn't be though. I just saved his ugly butt from suspension of worse. Fighting is not tolerated at Riverview Academy.
Bruce and Jonas have study hall and they promised me that they would go searching for him during hat period. Kasey and Lacey assured me that Ky wouldn't be angry for too long. Sooner or later he would come back and beg for my forgiveness which he should do once he does come back.
Kasey and Lacey have study hall with the guys while I am going to French. I need to brush up on my French. I use to be able to speak French fluently but I stopped practicing during my Sophomore year. I decided that I need to relearn the language for one I become famous. I am sure I will need it.
There he was causally sitting in the back corner of the room. How dare he? Did Zeke plan on ruining my entire first day of school?
"Why are you here? You already speak French fluently," I whispered to him without turning to look at him as I sat in the seat in front of him.
"Look Princess, I don't have to explain anything to you," he smirked. I hate his smirk. It is actually his way of smiling but I call it as I see it. "Besides don't you speak fluent French?"
"That is none of your business," I replied while pulling my notebook out of my book. Two can play at the vague game.
He leaned forward in his desk. I could feel his breathe on me. "Have it your way, Princess."
I flipped my shoulder length red hair. I wanted him far away from me. I regretted picking the seat in front him. It was too late now because the teacher, Ms. Francis was already in the classroom.
"Bonjour class," she greeted. I'm surprise she can speak in that skin tight, last season pencil skirt. "First order of business, you will begin working on a project for my class."
Everyone gave a collective groan. This is one of the few things high school kids can actually agree on. Projects are a bummer.
"Don't get too excited," Ms. Francis said sarcastically. "You will like this project. I am allowing you to work in partners."
A kid in the back gave a big whoop and pumped his chubby fist in the air. Zeke simply let out a huge sigh.
"For this project you must do a report on either France's economy, history, language, culture, or landmarks. This will be 45% of your grade for the year. Everyone will be working in partners."
"But Ms. Francis," whined Whitney Braxton, "we should be allowed to choose our own partners. I don't work well with most of the people here." She glared at me during her last sentence. I knew exactly what she was referring to. She should really get over Ky. He is my boyfriend.
"Well, Whitney, that is why you will be pulling a name out of this hat. People will keep pulling names until there is no one left. Who wants to go first? How about you, Whitney?"
Whitney sashayed her way to the front. Ugh, she is such a Me Wannabe. She dyed her hair dark brown like mine. She is crazy creepy and that is why Ky never has and never will like her. Whitney pulled out the name of the chubby boy in the back. I think it was Darnell something. After half the class went, it was my turn, but I already knew who KY partner was. There was only one kid besides me that didn't get picked. It was pretty stupid for me to go up there and pull out the last name.
Zeke's name was written in pen and scribbles messily over the small sheet of paper. I slowly turned to face the class. I could see the undeniable smirk from Zeke. He thought this was cute.
I made my way back to my seat. I didn't once turn towards Zeke. I knew he would immediately start laughing at my misfortune. It didn't matter because I could hear the snicker. He leaned forward and whispered in my ear.
"I'll meet you at your house at 5. See ya then, Princess."
I didn't utter a word for the rest of the period. When it was finally time for dismal, I sped out the door and into the loving arms of Ky. My other friends were close behind him. Everything will be okay. I think.
Ky Daniels wrapped his muscular arms around my waist. Kasey, Bruce, Lacey, and Jonas were right behind us. Kasey Michaels was making out with Bruce Turner while her brother Jonas was lip locking with Lacey. Finally, we were all back together again.

It's sad
It's the truth
Fighting through what it is
But I'll be stronger
I've gone through
Mounds of pain
I've been through
The deepest waters
Nobody can change my past
It's the truth, and it changed me
Sad to even hear the truth
Sad to...say the truth
Reality's always sad
And no one's gonna escape it.
It's how I became who I am today
It's how I didn't brag.
Why does this have to happen?
Why did it have to end?
Why does the world have to be so confusing?
Why did the fun have to end?
The world's just a crazy place
And no one's gonna stop that thought
Cause I'm broken for good...
Because of...the truth.
It's the truth
Fighting through what it is
But I'll be stronger
I've gone through
Mounds of pain
I've been through
The deepest waters
Nobody can change my past
It's the truth, and it changed me
Sad to even hear the truth

My terrifying enemy, Cat.
Tell me darling why you cry,
Your tears stain the bed you lay upon
Could it be you miss the ones you clung to so tight,
Nothing but a scared little fawn
The flames burnt away your past and future,
The hate did nothing but balance your grief
What now? That’s presents question,
Something so fragile like a branch being clung to by a leaf
Where is your mother little dove?
What happened to those loving others who filled your empty nest?
How many word of the world can you rhyme with love?
Perhaps someday we will know with, proper care and rest
When pursuing dreams take chances and strive for nothing less than best
Then only then can you be sure you’ve completed life’s most demanding quest
Your tears stain the bed you lay upon
Could it be you miss the ones you clung to so tight,
Nothing but a scared little fawn
The flames burnt away your past and future,
The hate did nothing but balance your grief
What now? That’s presents question,
Something so fragile like a branch being clung to by a leaf
Where is your mother little dove?

Soar, soar
Soar beyond your wildest dreams.....
There's no limit
On how much you can soar
No one can
Break your wings and kill you
Soar for the skies,
Don't let the feelin go
Just soar, soar like never before
No one's gonna stop you
From believin
There wasn't a time
When nobody could never soar
But there was a time
When people never believed
And tomorrow
Isn't the day to fall
And nobody's gonna push you down
Oh almighty eagle
We're gonna be the powerful eagles
We're not gonna let anyone
Be our ruler,
We're not anyone's slave
Almighty eagle
Oh soar, soar towards the sky's height
And soar toward your dream
Let nothing keep you away
Almighty eagle
Soar beyond your wildest dreams
And we're gonna fly tonight
Let nobody keep us down.

Life can be hard. Especially for me, Lily West, your almost-average 16-year-old girl. Most people think it's weird I'm bald. Others think I'm going to die. Then there's the occasional person who tries to take pity upon me. I'd rather they not, because some say it like I'm a helpless little turtle on its back. Sometimes I wish I die already, and sometimes I wish that I was a completely different person. Yes, it's tough having cancer. I just wish that they would respect me for a person instead of a helpless little bug.
I stood by you,
Ever so proudly,
In the darkness of war,
Never betraying you,
Always by your side.
I protected you,
Never let you down when
Things got rough,
I stood by you
Through day and night,
Summer and winter.
Stand by me now,
Be my loyal friend,
Never falter when the Fuhrer
Shoots his nasty gaze down at you.
Be strong,
My faithful friend.
Be strong,
And protect me from the evils
Of the world.
Be strong,
Never falter,
And always have courage.
Go now, my faithful friend.
Run free.
Ever so proudly,
In the darkness of war,
Never betraying you,
Always by your side.
I protected you,
Never let you down when
Things got rough,
I stood by you
Through day and night,
Summer and winter.
Stand by me now,
Be my loyal friend,
Never falter when the Fuhrer
Shoots his nasty gaze down at you.
Be strong,
My faithful friend.
Be strong,
And protect me from the evils
Of the world.
Be strong,
Never falter,
And always have courage.
Go now, my faithful friend.
Run free.
