Kayla’s POV
I felt dazed and disorientated. It was dark but not just normal dark. It was total darkness. Not a hint of light anywhere. I was lying down on cold hard stone and when I sat up I heard the clink of chains. I shook my left arm and chains rattled in the darkness. I was chained up like an animal. I leaned back and felt cold stone behind. I opened my eyes as wide as they could go and searched in the blackness but I couldn’t make out anything. It seemed even my super vision couldn’t see in this. I didn’t like this. I didn’t like this at all. My heart began to race and I could feel it banging against my chest. Any harder and I swore it would break free. But if it did burst out my chest I wouldn’t be able to find it in this sinister gloom. I had to get out. I couldn’t stay here and suffer whatever abuse was sure to come. I pulled against the chain that was securely locked around my left wrist. I used all my strength and yet nothing happened. I yanked as hard as I could and I only succeeded in cutting my wrist. I could feel the warm blood trickling down my arm. That was weird. I should have been able to rip that chain off the wall behind me. I was strong enough to do it. Why didn’t it work?
“LET ME GO!” I shouted into nothingness. “LET ME GO!”
I rattled the chains and hit them off the stone wall, determined to make as much noise as possible. Whoever had taken me from my graduation and chained me up was gonna pay big time. I screamed as loud as I could until my throat hurt. I even attempted to stand up but the chain wouldn’t let me. When no one came to me even though I made enough noise to wake the dead I slumped against the wall and accepted defeat. I sat there in silence for a long time. I had no watch on but even if I did I wouldn’t have been able to see it. I put my hand right up in front of my face and only just managed to make out a shape in front of me. I waved my hand in front of my eyes and heard the tiny clinking of jewellery. My bracelet was still on my wrist. The bracelet that Edward had gotten me, with the heart and star and the key and the lion and the lamb! Edward. He was the last person to see me, last person to talk to me. Would I ever see him again? And Charlie and Jacob and my mum? Would I see them again? My moronic mother, getting drunk on three bottles of champagne before my graduation and then turning up and making a spectacle of herself. That was just like her. She was crazy like that. She drank a lot before I moved to Forks but most of the time I wasn’t there to see it. I wouldn’t say she was an alcoholic. She just liked to drink because it changed her perspective on life and made it fun. We were going to talk and I was going to shout at her for embarrassing me and she would have begged me to forgive her but that never happened because something grabbed me first. I don’t remember anyone grabbing me but that must have been what happened. I remember watching Edward walk away and then it was total blackness after that.
I felt for the bracelet and was surprised to find another one there. There were two bracelets but I only remember wearing one. Strange.
A slim rectangle of light appeared in front of me and grew wider until something wooden smacked off the wall. I realised it was a door. Standing in the doorway was a tall figure, his features indistinguishable. Only a silhouette.
“Michaela,” a male spoke, his voice light and musical. “I’m sorry no one answered your calls. We were having guests over for dinner. It would have been rude to leave them to attend to you.”
He walked towards me, his shoes echoing on the stone. He kneeled down in front of me and scrutinized me face. I could only see his face vaguely and all I could make out were dark eyes and dark hair. The rest of him was shrouded in the darkness.
“Are you hungry?” he asked me. “Thirsty?”
“No,” I shook my head.
“Is there anything you would like?”
“To be free.”
He laughed and patted my head like a small child.
“We can’t do that,” he said, patronizingly. “That would be very silly. We want to keep you here.”
“Who’s we?” I asked.
“That’s would be telling.” He stood up and walked back to the door way, which wasn’t far.
“Wait!” I called to him.
He stopped and turned to face me.
“Yes?”
“Could I have some light in here? It’s very dark and I can’t see anything.”
“I could see perfectly in there,” he said and I heard a smile in his voice. “There must be something wrong with your eyes.”
He laughed and then closed the door, submerging me into the terrifying darkness.

Okay! It’s my first day of high school, so I have to make a good impression! I thought to myself as I walked into my new high school but, as I walked in everyone turned. Their expressions like I had something on my shirt, I looked down no nothing there. Then I realised it was a sunny day. On a sunny day my skin glinted like diamonds, not as beautiful as my family but, it still made everyone stare. Oh well1 they will just have to get used to it!
Just then a girl came up to me. “hi, im kirsty!” she said in a slightly stunned voice. I replied quickly “hello I am renesme!”
Kirsty told me about herself and she told me that it was also her first day at this high school. Me and kirsty became friends quickly and turns out that she knows about vampires and were wolves, for her auntie is Emily (sam’s Emily.)
