“No. I-I think I'm in love with Becca.”
Kaldur stared at him and the smile playing on his lips became a concealed smirk.
“What makes you think you are in love with her?” he inquired.
“I don't know. She's...she can be mean one minute and nice the next. She's protective and level-headed. Her mind is clear during battle but her past is shrouded in this black mist. She can be a real jerk to me but there's this sweet side that doesn't show very often. She acts tough and invulnerable but she's only human. She has emotions and I know she hides them. Becca and I've fought but we seem to be closer all the time. She likes to be prepared but adjusts to every new plan. But the thing I love most about her is how joyful she can be. You know as long as nothing important is causing her to be sarcastic.”
Kaldur chuckled, causing Wally to look at him.
“You think this is funny?!” Wally yelled.
“No. What I think is funny is how you so easily described how much Becca is like Artemis.”
Wally opened and shut his mouth several times, looking like a fish (hehe. No pun intended and no offense to who he's talking to). He stood and paced quickly as his mind took in the thought Kaldur had thrown in. After several minutes, he sat back down and looked at his friend.
“You're saying-you think I have a...a thing for Artemis?”
“I'm saying that, in all the hurry of finding Robin, you may have gotten your feelings mixed up. I believe you and Becca are like siblings. And she has the same...personality as our archer friend. Do you think it's possible that you are in love with Artemis?”
Wally gaped like an idiot (he's been told that's what he looks like by numerous people). What? He? In love with Artemis? His mind started battling with his heart and the latter was losing.
“What? Oh no…no. Nononono!”
But, at the same time…yesyesyesyes! As Kaldur's words sank in, Wally could see how true it was. Becca was a lot like Artemis. But she also was like a little sister. Artemis, on the other hand, was something far more. She wasn't just smart but beautiful too. With her long blonde hair and big blue eyes...it surprised Wally he hadn't figured this out before. Artemis was also talented. Her archery skills were impressive and she was brave beyond belief. She sacrificed herself more than once. The whole team made sacrifices. But being human made the sacrifice all the more humble. She didn't have special powers to save her. She didn't have a second chance if something happened. She only had one life and she put it on the line continuously.
“I-I-” Wally swallowed rather loudly. “Do you know where Artemis is?”
A smile lit Kaldur's face and Wally felt relieved.
“I believe she is in her room.”
Without another word, but a burst of wind, Wally was gone.
Artemis never expected visitor's. The only people allowed in her room were Becca and Megan. So it surprised her when Wally burst into her room propelled by super speed.
“Wally? What are you-”
Artemis was cut off as Wally took her face in his hands. Her mind completely shut down as he pressed his lips to hers gently. She gasped in surprise (which was expected), but soon responded. She kissed him back and closed her eyes. As an electric bonding ran between them, they melted together and their kiss deepened. Wally put his arms around her, pulling her closer and Artemis moved her hands from his chest (where they had been placed to push him away) into his hair. She wasn't surprised when his tongue begged for entrance but she nipped it lightly. Wally took the hint and pulled away as the need for oxygen became apparent. Their lips a breath apart, Wally felt his cheeks redden at the hot breath on his face.
“I love you,” he whispered.
He smiled sheepishly as Artemis's eyes widened in shock and his blush increased.
“R-really?” she asked.
“Yeah. I really do love you. I love your smile, your personality. I love how much you tease me, how many times you call me stupid. I even love the fact that you argue with me. I love........everything about you.”
Kaldur stared at him and the smile playing on his lips became a concealed smirk.
