1 Year after Revenge or Redemption
1 Year prior to Season 2 of Young Justice
(Little Update: Red Revenge is now 19 years old. Emerald is now 18 years old. Blue Beetle and Beast Boy have joined the Team, Kaldur has disappeared)
Chapter 1:
The day was peaceful. Betrayingly so. The soft sound of wind through the grass was pleasant. The cool spray of the park's sprinklers felt perfect if one walked through them. The bright, green forest to one side of the sidewalk was loud with the noise of animals running about in the pleasant spring morning.
Two adults walked downy the path. A big, buff, black dude and his girlfriend. They were in casual clothes, but if one got a glimpse in the dude's backpack, he would've seen graduation robes. The two were walking home from the ceremony and had decided to take a walk through the park.
The man started to speak when his girlfriend quieted him. As if on cue, the entire woods became still and quiet. The two looked around cautiously and curiously. After a moment, the two continued walking.
Then, the girls emerged from the woods. The three were dressed as normal 17 year old girls who went to a prestigious academy. But something about them was mysterious.
Mal, the dude, stopped to let them cross in front of him. His first mistake. Two of the girls leaped at him, tackling him to the ground and pinning him with inhuman strength.
Karen shouted his name, but the third girl grabbed her, clamping a cloth over her mouth. Karen's eyes went wide and she sagged. The girl dragged her into the woods as Mal shouted her name.
He ran after them, but they had disappeared.
He searched for hours, but eventually gave up. Walking home to call the cops, he was surprised to discover he had left his television on. A news report was playing about how Superboy and Miss Martian had saved some children from a burning orphanage. Mal paused the television and looked closely before sitting down abruptly.
"Im an idiot." he said. "But they were my friends... Maybe they can help find Karen!"
Mal was thrilled with his discovery until he realized that he hadn't seen Megan or Connor in a year. And he had no idea how to get in touch with them. Unless....
"Baby, Im sorry." he muttered, pulling on a mask.
Later that night, he hefted a brick and tossed it at a store window. The glass shattered and Mal crawled in. He walked over to the safe. Less than a minute later, he heard a gruff voice.
"Step away from the safe."
Mal stood up and turned abruptly to face Batman. The Dark Knight pulled out a batarang, but Mal held up his hands.
"Whoah, whoah, whoah!" Mal said, holding up his hands. "I just needed your attention! I need to speak to Megan and Connor."
"I don't know who you're talking about, but--"
"Superboy, Miss Martian?" Mal said, taking off his mask. ""Im Mal, I used to go to school with them."
Batman lowered his batarang.

Somewhere in the Arctic, 4:49 a.m.
Nathan curled up on the rocky floor of the dark cave, protected from the snow for now. He'd found a piece of rock chipped off from the edges of the cavern and had somehow created a spark that had ignited into a flame. How it was sustaining, well, he didn't know. But it was keeping him warm, and for that he was grateful.
It suddenly dawned on him that he felt immensely drained, nearly useless. His heart wasn't beating as fast as usuall. Pushing himself up, he went to find a pool of ice, to see what was wrong. What he saw shocked him: his hair had turned to it's orginal mocha hue, a sign of no powers.
He sighed, and realized with a jolt he was in a cave. A cave... and the last person he'd seen was the Batman's daughter. This small fact slightly amused him, but amusement turned to worry. "Fin..." he murmured. "Why can't you see past what I've done? Why can't you see that I love you?"
