years past...
he was tired after a day of creating new swords and armor and decided to go through his old sword scrap pile... most of them had countless defects or were just of poor quality...but one caught his eye, it was the golden blade he had forge years prior... he wondered why he had never sold it. maybe from spite of the market place or lack of knowledge as a businessman, nevertheless it had stayed in his shop.
he wondered why the man never came to collect such a sword. he had payed a decent amount to own it but never retrieved it. he could not figure why, to his recollection he had seen the adventurer just days prior to the transaction. he still remembered his face and the outfit he wore... for some reason this image had stayed in his mind all these years even though he had never truly known the man.
he then remembered that he needed to get more metal to make some more swords. he was walking down a trail to an old junkyard where he collected his scrap metal to make swords and armor. he had been coming here for years. he could never afford to buy top of the line metal fresh from the mines... but just cause he used old metal didn't mean his swords where of any lower quality... but it did discourage buyers to here that his swords originated in the dump...
he began to dig through the junkheap in search of usable metal. as he was moving an old TV out of his way part of Junk Mound Collapsed. he was almost buried alive, but luckly he had jumped out of the way just in time. as he picked himself up off the ground he noticed something, behind the junkyard there was a cave, but it was an unnatural cave, it was a dungeon. as entered the Dungeon it became apparent that it had been long since abandoned.
there were no evil creatures or booby traps or anything alive for that matter, he was just going to leave when he spotted some armor and weapons scattered on the ground... he went over and picked them up and as he grabbed them he noticed even more further down, these weapons belonged to all sorts of evil twisted creatures he noted as he past the skeletons on the floor. it was a jackpot, the further he went down the more weapons he found, he was going to be rich. but after awhile he began to wonder, what had killed all these evil, monstrous creatures.
he had finally reached the end of the cavern and he had created a huge pile of weapons at the entrance to the Dungeon so that he could easily bring back a wagon and take them back to his shop. as he was grabbing a shield off the ground he noticed a skeleton sitting up against the rocks, it wasn't twisted and disfigured like the rest of the skeletons, it was sitting up against a rock formation with it's head tilted down. "wow" he said, thinking about how this one guy managed to kill all these creatures in this dungeon, even though he hadn't made it himself.
as he approached the slumped over figure, something struck him as familiar, something about his outfit. it was one of a true adventurer... that was it, it was him, the man who he had originally planned to sell his sword too. now he knew why he had never came back to reclaim his sword. The blacksmith just stood there in awe. he could not believe what he had found, the odds where unbelievable. the blacksmith didn't know what to do, this man deserved an award for his feat, even if he be dead. the blacksmith just smiled.
he walked out of the dungeon and back towards his shop, he pulled his wagon around and hitched it up to his horses, as he was taking off to go retrieve all the precious weapons he had found, he grabbed the old golden sword.
once he arrived at the junkyard, he tied up his horses to a nearby tree and walked to the dungeon. he went right past his huge mound of weapons he had collected and walked down through the dungeon. he came to the end where the dead adventure is, he pulled out a bundle of cloths he had put in his backpack. he unraveled the cloth to reveal the golden sword. he bent down and placed it in the lap of the dead adventure as retribution for the amazing accomplishment he had done. not only that, but now he was given the sword he had rightfully bought.
the blacksmith stood up and walked back towards the entrance of the Dungeon and began loading up his loot.
it would be years later when another adventurer would claim the sword as his own. but he was not wrong to take it, for he was a hero in every aspect of his being. he would be the first person to actually wield this sword in combat... and he would also be the last...
