Note: Alice in Wonderland is not created and owned by me. This is a story for this website and Fanfiction.net.

Alice saw Tarrant dressed as a lifeguard and said "Hi Tarrant. What's going on?"

Tarrant said "I'm working on a experiment involving hats."

Alice said "I don't understand what you're talking about."

Tarrant said "I'm used to hearing that. I'm trying to make hats that can float in water which is why I'm going to be a lifeguard today."

Alice said "I didn't know that there was a pool nearby."

Tarrant said "It's been around since 1865. I have an idea."

Alice said "What?"

Tarrant said "You should swim in the pool wearing 1 of my new hats to find out if the hats can float."

Alice said "Okay, but I'll need a swimsuit."

Tarrant said "Luckily swimsuits are on sale. Buy 9, get 1 free."

Alice said "That's not a very good sale."

Tarrant said "Well it seemed like a good sale to me which is why I bought 10 swimsuits." Tarrant handed a light blue swimsuit to Alice. Tarrant said "When you're ready we will test out my floating hats."

First of all: This is not mine, this is an opinion article that I found in Live Journal and "princessatta" wrote it... Please read, it`s very interesting

Introduction

Sometimes there are ships which defy all logic and are nonsensical. They transcend all time and translation. Or, in the case of Alice Kingsleigh and Tarrant Hightopp of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Time is killed altogether so that the ship can have a chance! Welcome to the ship that is Hatter/Alice (or Halice).

A Little History Behind Them

The idea of shipping Alice and the Mad Hatter is most indeed one that is curiouser and curiouser. But, whether many would probably admit it, I’m convinced there has always been some tantalizing siren call when it comes to these two. How it ever came to this, I cannot even begin to know. Still, if I was to venture a guess, despite all reason, I would put a majority of the blame on the original Disney animated classic.

Did you know...?
The meanings of the characters in Alice in Wonderland? I mean, in many cases, the characters are not just casual, Lewis Carroll was trying to had a point.
Well I have some for you...

The white rabbit

Alice finds a talking rabbit that has a watch is its waistcoat, Isn´t it the best way of represent the time and how it controls everything?

The blue caterpillar

Alice finds a blue caterpillar that is smoking a big pipe. This represents the opium, a common drug in Victorian England.

The Chesire Cat

Isn´t it just ironic that the only sane conversation that Alice has in Wonderland is about the madness and she actually has it with a talking smiling cat that can dissapear? This represents just a irony, everybody is mad.

The Mad Hatter

He is angry with the Time, therefor it´s always five o´clock and he is drinking tea, moving from one side of the table to another. It represents the absurdity of social conventions. It also represents something that happened to real hatters in that time, they went crazy because they used a glue that had high mercury content....

THis is the official Alice in Wonderland Prayer, yeah I was bored.

Our father who art in Wonderland
Hallowed be thy name
Thy revolution will come
on earth as it is in underland
give us our daily cup of tea
and forgive us our madness
as we forgive those with madness bigger than the Mad Hatter
Save us from the Red Queen
and deliver us from riddles
for Alice, Mad Hatter, Red Queen now and forever

Amen

They always said that I was a bit mad.

I guess that’s why I hear bumble bees and geckos talking to me, and not about allergies or how to save money on my car insurance.

You see my dad and my mom is traveling the world for fun. My dad got me some teachers just for me so I won’t have to be in school with the normal kids. But I think it would be fun. I could have real friends instead of no one. Also I could also see some real doctors about some of the things that I think of. They are strange. My fathers doctors say that I am perfectly fine, don’t worry, mentally fine, ect., I don’t believe any of it.

Every night I walk out into the rose garden, and look at the flowers in the darkness. The world looks better without the harsh light playing tricks on you. Tonight as I walked out something caught my eye, a rabbit. I had never seen a rabbit this late at night so I followed it. After the rabbit and I left the garden, The Rabbit stood up on his hind legs and looked at his watch.

Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack out June 1st
Found link
to watch the Behind the scenes clip.

(About the behind the scenes clip)

Let me be clear: I really enjoyed Tim Burton's take on "Alice in Wonderland." The story delivered a worthwhile continuation of Disney's original animated film while sticking to the twistedly whimsical spirit Lewis Carroll's classic book. A lot of folks felt the same way.

Then the movie ended. Like many, I was shaken by the... interesting creative choice made in the final minutes when Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter performs a CGI-assisted dance -- the Futterwacken -- to a techno beat. In the below clip from the Blu-ray/DVD's bonus features, out next week on June 1, Depp expresses some concerns of his own.

--

Q&A

Why in the playing of the Mad Hatter did you opt for a Scottish accent at times? And how was wearing a kilt for the big battle scene?

1. First of all, when and how did you find out about "Alice in Wonderland" Tim Burton's version?

Everything. I love Alice in Wonderland, I love Johnny Depp, I love Tim Burton, I love Stephen Fry, EVERYTHING.

3. What is your favourite (and why):

a) Character?

The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on on hearing this; but all he said was, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?"
...
"Have you guessed the riddle yet?" the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
"No, I give it up," Alice replied. "What's the answer?"
"I haven't the slightest idea," said the Hatter.

--

While Lewis Carroll had intended for this riddle to have no answer, many have surfaced. Some clever, some silly, and some completley un-related to the riddle. So are you wondering what the answer to Hatter's riddle is?
Curiousity killed the cat, you know.
However, there is more than one answer to his imfamous riddle, and for those who've grown curious...here are a few.

Carroll's Answer: "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is nevar put with the wrong end in front!"
**Note the clever misspelling of nevar so it is "raven" spelled backwards.

Answer 2: "Because the notes for which they are noted are not noted for being musical notes"

Casting auditions for 250 extras were held in the British city of Plymouth on 6th and 7th August 2008. Requirements were for people with a 'Victorian look' and for applicants to have no visible tattoos, piercings or dyed hair.

Actress Mia Wasikowska beat out several candidates for the role of Alice, including Amanda Seyfried and Lindsay Lohan, who lobbied for the role.

This film marks the 7th time Johnny Depp has worked under the direction of Tim Burton and the 6th time for Helena Bonham Carter.

Principal photography of this movie took 40 days.

Despite the fact that there have been many other Alice in Wonderland films, Tim Burton has said he never felt a emotional connection to it and always thought it was a series of some girl wondering around from one crazy character to another. (In fact, the original books are part of a once-popular fantasy genre in which the character does nothing except wander around from one crazy encounter to another. Those films which replicated this were being true to the spirit of the original books.) So with this, he attempted to create a framework, an emotional grounding, which he felt he never...

Alice in Wonderland(2010)
Have you had a chance to see Alice in Wonderland yet? If so, you are probably curious to knowmore about the lead in the movie Mia Wasikowska, who of course plays Alice.

She may not be a household name yet, but Mia Wasikowska is poised to cross over into It Girl territory after her star turn in Alice in Wonderland.

Mia grew up in Australia, but her mother is Polish. That is where she takes her name from. Before she got into acting, she was a ballet dancer.

Mia talked about her experience playing Alice and what a challenge it was.

She said, "One of the things that was scary about taking on that role is the huge fan base; everybody has their own idea of who she is. So [Tim Burton and I] discussed, very early on, just being happy with her being our Alice...making her my own.".

What do you think Wambie girls? Is Mia the next famous face? Will she take the place of Miley or Selena?

Ok, so once the movie came out, people here seem to have gone NUTS making spots for the movie and its characters. However, most of these spots are duplicates. It makes no sense to have 10 Mad Hatter Spots, 5 spots dedicated to the movie and so on and so on. PLEASE check this list OR search the links of this spot BEFORE you make a new club for a character. Duplicate spots are useless and they clutter up Fanpop needlessly. If you know of any other ones, please leave a comment letting me know. Unfortunately, when people have made their spots they have not given their spots good keywords, so I have had trouble finding them.

Here are the spots related to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland:

Oh, Alice dear where have you been?
So near, so far so in between?
What have you heard what have you seen?
Alice, Alice, please Alice!

Oh, tell us are you big or small
To try this one or try them all
It's such a long, long way to fall
Alice, Alice, oh Alice!

How can you know this way not that?
You choose the door you choose the path
Perhaps you should be coming back
Another day, another day

And nothing is quite what it seems
You're dreaming are you dreaming, oh, Alice?
(Oh, how will you find your way? Oh, how will you find your way?)
(There's not time for tears today. There's no time for tears today.)

So many doors - how did you choose
So much to gain so much to lose
So many things got in your way
No time today, no time today
Be careful not to lose your head
Just think of what the doormouse said...Alice!

Did someone pull you by the hand?

There has been a dramatic increase in misplaced content in this spot!

Firstly, the QUESTION/ANSWER section if for asking questions that you DO NOT know the answer to, that have FACTUAL answers. This is a section for fans to help other fans answer questions about the movie that they have. This section is NOT for asking for OPINIONS about the movie/characters/music etc. For example "Did you like the movie?" and "Don't you think that the Dormouse is so cute?!?!" are NOT QUESTIONS. Those types of questions should be PICKS or FORUM TOPICS.

Secondly, while the 'Alice In Wonderland' story takes many forms, THIS SPOT is a spot dedicated to TIM BURTON's version of 'Alice I Wonderland'. While we would all expect some level of comparision between other versions, PLEASE DO NOT post other 'Alice In Wonderland' content in this spot. There are spots for other versions of 'Alice In Wonderland', and that is where that content belongs. So, if you find a picture from the cartoon version or the book or any other version that you have a desperate need to share, PLEASE post in the appropriate spot!

Peter's Evil Overlord List was compiled in 1994 by Peter Anspach as a list of things that one should and should not do if they become an evil overlord. The list can be found here: link

So how does the Red Queen measure up? Not very well actually. I have compiled the following list of all the things in the Evil Overlord List that she did wrong or didn't do at all.

---

3. My noble half-brother whose throne I usurped will be killed, not kept anonymously imprisoned in a forgotten cell of my dungeon. I’m scratching my head at why she didn’t just get rid of Mirana once and for all.

10. I will not interrogate my enemies in the inner sanctum -- a small hotel well outside my borders will work just as well. In a world where cats can disappear, one might also want to have better security in the dungeons.

First off, I'm going to make this very clear: Since it's obvious that not everyone on this spot likes this sort of music, the value of the songs is up for debate. Therefore, I am going to base this review not on my opinion of the songs, but rather the arrangement of the CD.

Here is the track listing for the Hot Topic Exclusive version:

1. Alice - Avril Lavigne
2. The Poison - The All-American Rejects
3. The Technicolor Phase - Owl City
4. Her Name is Alice - Shinedown
5. Painting Flowers - All Time Low
6. Where's My Angel - Metro Station
7. Strange - Tokio Hotel & Kerli
8. Follow Me Down 3OH!3 & Neon Hitch
9. Very Good Advice - Robert Smith
10. In Transit - Mark Hoppus & Pete Wentz
11. Welcome to Mystery - Plain White T's
12. Tea Party - Kerli
13. The Lobster Quadrille - Franz Ferdinand

Oh, sweet beginnings. Remember when this picture was 'leaked'? Back in 2008...
Yes, because you can never have too many reviews, but PLEASE do read misanthrope86's review here: link

Anyway, I just got back from 2 showings today, all dressed up as Tarrant and with more comments pictures taken of me than I can count. They obviously liked my costume...they had better, I've spent well over a year making the darn thing.

ANYWAY. I I loved it. BOTH times. (And soon to be WAY more as the days pogress)

You can't get enough of this movie. You really can't. Both times I watched it felt like the first...each time you notice something else, and something new. There's so much detail in Underland that you could watch it a billion times (which I probably will) and each time notice another new piece in a scene.
And the 3D only amplifies it.

*****SPOILERS*****
*****DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE*****
*****SPOILERS*****

So, I have been reading lots of movie reviewers opinions about Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' and have grown very tired of reviewers who just don't really get where the movie is coming from. So I thought I would review the film! I know I will be a little biased, but I think it is always cool for fans to read what other fans think, as you get more in depth and deeper perspectives from fans of a movie, than from random movie reviewers who get paid to talk about movies that they probably wouldn't even see if they were given a choice.
So here is my review of Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' ~

To begin, full disclosure. I'm a HUGE Tim Burton fan. And I also love Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and 99% of the whole cast. But like I said, this is a fan review, for fans.

The Story
This version of the 'Alice In Wonderland' story, as you will know, is a sequel of sorts. Alice, now 19 years, falls back into the "Wonderland" that she discovered as a youth. I loved the way they treated this story....

Helena: Thank you! I thought it was appropriate for Alice.

TeenHollywood: When people say you have a "big head" in this movie, they aren't speaking of your ego, right?

Helena: Well, I’m not as inflated (today). Maybe that’s why Tim gave me the job. I’m one of the few actresses who can blow up their head.

TeenHollywood: Is there music in the background? Can someone turn that off?

Helena: Funny. That’s my music. That’s what we do at home is we have the (film's) score going…

TeenHollywood: Talk about the challenges of acting all this against green screen. Seems more and more films are getting made that way now.

What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. - William Shakespeare
Have you ever looked up what your name means? If not you should definitely do so. In the meantime, here are the origins and meanings of several of the names of caracters in the Alice in Wonderland movie. While some of the names from the move are made-up (Seriously, when was the last time you actually met someone called "Tweedledee" or "Mallymkun?"), plenty of them aren't.

Something to think on: How well do the names and meanings match up to the characters' personalities?

Absolem – Hebrew. A form of Absalom, meaning “Father is peace.”
Alice – A German name meaning “Woman of nobility.”
Ascot (Surname) – English, meaning “One who lives in the eastern cottage.” It’s also a kind of necktie.
Bayard – French. “Whith red-brown hair.”
Charles - German. “A free man.”
Faith – English, meaning “Faith” (duh).
Fiona – Scottish. “White, fair.”
Hamish – Scottish. A form of James, meaning “He who supplants.”

The Hatter, er, Alice in Wonderland poster.
We are all excited about the Alice movie. If we weren't, we wouldn't be on this spot. But is it really Alice's story anymore?

My friend, her sister, and I were at the cinema together seeing the Lightning Thief movie. As we left the theater, we were confronted by a huge poster for Alice in Wonderland with a crazy-big neon-bright image of the Mad Hatter on it. My friend's sister said "If it's called Alice in Wonderland, the why is there only a picture of the Hatter on the poster?"

It's a reasonable question, and one that really made me think. Of all the posters I had seen promoting Tim Burton's latest movie, almost all of them had the Mad Hatter as the center of attention. The posters I saw that actually had our heroine on them had either the Hatter standing prominently enoungh in the background or Johnny Depp's name in big and fancy gold lettering.

So why is the Hatter the one advertising? Isn't Alice the whole point of the story?

The Alice in Wonderland Visual Guide
Alice in Wonderland: The Visual Guide

I found a copy of this at the library and checked it out just to see what the movie would be like. I bought a copy about three days later. That book is the reason I love Alice in Wonderland so much.

DK Publishing has never put out a bad book. This time wasn't a dissapointment. The pictures in the Visual Guide are great. Really great, as in "I sat there looking at the pictures for two whole hours" great.

It's also very useful. Want to know where the Mad Hatter was born? How about a few words in Outlandish? Yup, the book has it. I was able to write a fanfiction with the facts, and from what I can tell now the accuracy of that fic wasn't too far off. The book definitely helped.

There are a couple of editing glitches, but those aside it is a really good book.

Rating: 4/5, mainly due to the editing difficulties.
