Spring Of 2011 Part 2. "The Boy In Tan?"
Its been several weeks and spring is almost over, which means if Humphrey wants to be a hunter, he will have to prove himself before summer, or else he could not hunt. Kate woke him right before daylight, and they were up in the nearest mountain. It was about an hours walk from their den. They passed by a few Bison a bobcat, and 3 elk. She wants him to spot a white tail deer and catch it himself as she stands back to watch. Within 5 minutes Humphrey found there first white tail, and sure enough it was a full grown 12 point bull. Kate kept in mind even though he found the biggest one she ever saw, he also passed up 2 of them that were lying down. He approached from the back. Practically crawling like a snake he was so low. And when he got to the rear he took in its massive size and beauty. Much bigger then a Pika or beaver. He sneaked to the side like he was told. Then he moved in an inch at a time. Slow and slower. He finally came within a foot from the deer and in a split second the deer was on the ground with Humphrey's jaws on its neck. Kate got up from hiding and congratulated him on his first big game kill. Then he was told to drag the 212 pound deer for 2 hours back to the camp where he was congratulated by Garth and Tony. Tony said that meal should last them about a month and a half. He then returned back to his cave. He didn't age very much from his last heart attack a month ago. But he still felt miserable. Garth has made a schedule which allows him to spend time with Lilly for an hour at sunrise and then he spent 3 hours at his dads and spent the rest of the day with Lilly. Back at the den Kate and Humphrey played around with a scared chipmunk who they kept pinning in a corner. They couldn't stop laughing at it running up the wall and falling off halfway up. He then grabbed it by the tail and gave it to the wolf pups sitting outside watching curiously. They battered it around a bit and killed it. Then in 2 bites it was swallowed. That made Kate remember how she would like a few pups running around like that. But knew it was too close to the end of the season for her. She heard from her mother 4 alphas are having babies in a few months. Which made her really excited cause she wanted to see a new born. The sun started to set and the pups were called home. Humphrey was in the den eating some of the deer. Kate took a good look at him and his skills and knew he would be a great father. She then went to the back of the cave and collapsed down from her tiredness. Humphrey joined her shortly after he was done eating. During the next day Kate woke up to the sound of a plane going by. All of the wolves scattered out of site, and into their dens hoping not to be seen. Once the plane flew by Kate walked outside and saw Humphrey throw a coon out of the tree and all the pups from last night, grabbed it and killed it. He laughed as he fell out of the tree and into a small stream where a female was trying to drink. Kate chuckled and went on her way down to Lilly's to see how they were doing. When she arrived she found the cave empty. Which was odd cause this is the time when Lilly normally is eating breakfast. She went to the top of a mountain and saw the 2 of them racing to the southern Valley. Kate decided to go back to Humphrey and go for a walk with him to a waterfall. When she got to her den she was smiling at the sight of Humphrey attempting a dare that Salty made. He quickly jumped out of the tree and fell 10 feet. Then he spit a 3 foot snake out of his mouth. She chuckled when it stuck mooch on the upper leg. She walked over to Humphrey and asked him if he wanted to go up to "Couples fallz." He of course agreed cause of the beauty of that place. They started on their 45 minute walk up the mountain. They past by Shakey's house, and then mooches. They were halfway up the mountain when they were chased by a skunk. They back tracked 5 minutes of the walk until they finally got away from it. They went around the path and found the stream that is the over flow channel for the pond under the waterfall. They followed it up scaring several deer, and a red fox. Finally they could here the waterfall in the distance which meant they were only 3 minutes away. Kate taunted Humphrey into a race, and they ran as fast as they can until Kate suddenly stopped. And Humphrey looked back at her unaware he just ran off a rock and is about to go swimming. He hit the water hard and his belly felt like it was on fire. Kate couldn't stop laughing as she rolled over on the ground. Couples fallz was a 25 foot high waterfall that was around 10 feet wide. The pond under it was around 50 feet in diameter. In the middle was a make shift island of rocks made by the omegas that tried to get a date. Kate ran up around the waterfall and jumped off of it. She completed 2 front flips, and dived straight into the water. She saw all the beautiful collard fish and a few turtles. She then reached the surface right next to Humphrey. They watched 2 muskrats run by followed by a snake. They got out on land, and found the group of dens. The dens are in groups of 10 side by side and 12 feet long. There are 3 groups of dens all together. They found one empty right next to the waterfall. They caught a small Pronghorn 3 minutes up the river and had it for dinner. They then went to sleep in the cozy den. They went back to their den and saw their mother waiting there for them. "What are you doing here mom?" "I just wanted to say hi and couldn't find you and Humphrey so I just waited here." "Oh sorry Eve, me and Kate were up at Couples Fallz." "Oh that's fine, it sure is beautiful up there. Did you get chased by the skunk halfway up the trial?" "Ya me and Humphrey ran so fast. We ended up going around and following the overflow channel." "Glad you guys had a good time." "Did you want to ask Kate something?" "Oh yes, thanks for reminding me. Kate, did you see Lilly yesterday?" "Oh ya I went to see them and I saw them racing off into the southern valley." "What! A couple was just attacked by a human down there. He is trying to trap us and kill us for our fur. We need to find them!" "Ill, go get Can-do and his friends, Kate you can get the rest." "Humphrey, Can-do is on a trip. He is at the dens in the eastern territory. Just come with me." As they ran for the remaining alphas, Eve ran for Winston. They reached the alphas and brought 2 omegas along with them. They searched for 4 hours and no luck. Kate ventured out by herself and say a boy across the hill. Near the boy was 2 Wolves, Lilly and Garth. Garth jumped and sliced a claw mark on his right cheek. The boy fell to the ground and grabbed his face. Lilly spotted Kate and ran for her. Garth quickly followed. Kate warned all the alphas they were coming and humans were around, so all the wolves scattered up the the dens, and Lilly reach Kate. They ran side by side, as Humphrey and Garth followed behind to make sure no one sneaked up on them. When they reached home, Kate wanted to know everything that happened. "Well he didn't seem mean. Like he didn't want to hurt us. He just stood there looking at me. Garth noticed he had something on his leg. He said the thing he had on can kill us. So he jumped him and clawed his face. He was in some kind of weird clothing. I heard of designs, but this stuff was tan and it was just a wavy patten repeating itself over and over. He had a type of boot on and a hat the same color as his cloths. He said nothing just stood there. And that's all I know." "Thanks Lilly." "Welcome" the day after no one has ever seen the boy, just his boot tracks in the mud by the streams and swamps. She grew more and more curious. So she went to the train tracks the following week and saw Marcel and Paddy flying over. She stopped them and they greeted her happily. She continued to talk about what new was going on, and then mentioned the boy in tan. "Ah yes. The boy in tan. Although us french birds and every person in the world calls it camo." Camo?" "Yes its a type of clothing they use in different environments to stay hidden. The camo he is wearing is called desert camo. They fight with guns and kill each other to have peace. He was to young to be in what they call a war so they simply threw him out. He managed to take 2 guns with him and now he is on the run. So that is probably why he is up here." Is he dangerous like will he kill us?" "We do not know. He hasn't proven himself as trustworthy yet. Although he has killed 2 bison and ate them over a fire since he got up here. So we don't know." "Where is he hiding out?" "In the caves of the southern mountains. But I must warn you. Stay away. He can very easily kill every wolf here with his guns."
