Mini story 4. Part 2 of 2. “The entire US is gone...”

Late at night, Winston heard the whistling of the Nighthawk's engine. He looked outside and watched the lights flashing off the plane as he took off. "Why is he going so early?" Winston wondered. He was extremely tired so he immediately went back to bed after the flashing of the lights went away. In the morning, he headed off to the central dens. Hutch was planning a trip to take medical supplies up to Garth's territory, and he called Winston over. "Hey, can you ask Eve to come here?" Hutch asked. "She is still sleeping; can I help you with anything?" Winston offered. "We need a medical kit do you know where she keeps them?" Hutch answered. "Yes there is an extra one right outside of Kate's den; I'll get it for you real quick." Winston answered.

    When Winston arrived at Kate's den she quickly noticed him and met him at the entrance. "Hey dad what's up?" Kate greeted. "Hutch needs a medical kit for Garth's territory." Winston informed. "Oh OK. I'll get it for you." Kate agreed. "Here you go dad." Kate handed over. "Thanks Kate." Winston uttered. "What's wrong dad?" Kate asked. "I wanted to wait a while longer to tell you but Will had to leave this morning to...Um...Get a new car in the US. He will be gone for a week or so. "Winston grumbled." Oh Ok well thanks for telling me." Kate answered. It was hard for him to tell Kate that, but it had to be done. As he walked away Kate dropped her head a bit and went back to wake Humphrey for the day.

    Humphrey quickly jumped up and shook himself awake. He noticed Kate was a bit sad so on his way out he pretended to trip and fall into the wall. Of course he managed to get Kate to chuckle. When he got to the edge of the cave he looked up at the beautiful sky. It was crystal clear outside. "Hey Kate what is that?" Humphrey asked. Kate walked outside and looked into the sky. "Oh my god I don't know what that is!" Kate screeched. She saw her dad walking away so she yelled out as loud as she could to him. Winston quickly turned around and noticed she was pointing to the sky. And there in the sky were six mushroom clouds. "Oh my god..." Winston whispered. "Kate! Get every single wolf down to Jasper's highway now!" Winston yelped. "Why?" Kate wondered. "Just do it!" He demanded. Winston ran off to get Eve woken, up.

    When he got back to the central dens. It was like a ghost town. Few wolves still remained so he ordered them to go to jasper's highway. Everyone was scared and worried for one another. Winston was quickly surrounded by alpha's looking for answers. He got up on a rock in front of everyone and began telling them what was going on. "Everyone, Will has informed me that 87 nuclear bombs may or may not explode in the US, and apparently they have. So we need to go into his airplane hangar and stay there for three days. I don't know why, but we need to trust him. There is enough food and water in there to last five days. So let's go and get in the hangar before it is too late. If you know anyone who is not here with us please speak up now so we can get everyone inside." Winston explained. He gave them a minute to find their family and everyone was there. He then sent hutch out to get Garth's pack and bring them here as well.

    The hanger has gigantic and could house four packs. Food was laid out on pallets and giant containers of water filled the remainder of the wall. Garth and his friends quickly made it to the hanger. “Hey dad why are there mushroom clouds in the sky?” “Shut up I’ll tell you later” Tony snorted. "Well get used to it everyone; this is how it is going to be for three days." Winston sighed. "What are we going to do for these three days? Garth shouted. "Mingle..." Winston grinned.
