Chapter 7

Saphire, Seth and Kate began to approach a small den lined with stray tufts of grass. Voices, male and female could be heard inside. Then a petit white female walked out. One of her eyes were covered with her locks, the other was a bright purple. "Hey Saphire..." The female said. Saphire smiled. "Hey Lilly... Hows life?" Lilly shrugged. "Same old... Same old..." She laughed. Saphire nodded. "Who are these two?" Lilly asked turning her head to Seth and Kate. "Well, this one over here, is Seth." "Nice to meet you!" Lilly smiled. Seth could tell she was fairly friendly. He hadn't met one unfriendly wolf yet. "And..." Saphire continued, turning to Kate. "This is your new sister-... I mean... This is Kate." "Sister? So Dad is going through with his new plan..." Kate made a confused look on her face. "What?... Plan..." Kate questioned. She turned to Saphire. Saphire sighed. "Well, i'm probably gonna be thrown into the proverbial dog house for this, but Ruuqo, our pack leader wishes to replace Nia, his daughter, who died from a caribou hunt, with you. Because you are an Alpha. He also has something else planned for you... But he wouldn't tell anyone. Not me, not Lilly, even not his Mate Rissa." "Fair enough..." Kate said turning away from Saphire. "Are we going to see the Alpha's den now?" Seth asked curiously. "Yes... And then I will let you two explore on your own... Haha... I promised Liam some fun tonight so i'd better get ready... IF you're catching my drift... haha..." Saphire raised her eye brows twice. "Wow... It's only been a while into out visit here and there are already sexual themes..." Kate laughed. "Guess so... But i like where it's going..." Saphire laughed. Before turning around, Saphire waved good bye to Lilly and the other beta's. She then gestured for Seth and Kate to follow. When they were out of ear shot of Saphire and anyone else, Seth leaned over to Kate's ear. "How bout we have a little fun of our own-" "No." Kate laughed, her flank brushing against his nose. "Yes dear..." Seth quickly replied.

"How are our guests settling in?" Ruuqo asked Liam. "They are getting used to the location very quickly Liam answered. "And they look friendly enough... They are already friends with my mate, and i'm sure they've already made a few friends..." "That's good..." Ruuqo sighed. "When do you plan to tell Kate about her responsibility?" Liam asked. Ruuqo hesitated. He took one hind leg and scratched behind his ear. "By the end of the week she will know." Ruuqo answered. "Well, you'd better make it soon. Or our guests won't want to be guests for long." Liam concluded before walking out of the den.

"So here is the Alpha den." Saphire explained. Seth took a deep wiff of the scent. It smelled of pine, and honey. "Don't get me wrong, I am interested in guys, but I am sure you'll have no problem finding a mate here. Alot of wolves would pay to get a strong and beautiful mate like you..." Saphire explained. She picked up a twinge of sorrow from Seth but made nothing of it. "Ah yes... The newcomers..." Came a voice emanating from inside the cave. Out came a muscular grey wolf. One of the ones that helped Liam bring Kate and Seth to the camp. "Name's Bradley!" Said the Alpha. He sat down. "I take it you're Kate..." Bradley took her paw and kissed it. "And you must be Seth." Bradley nodded his approval. Kate blushed. "How long have they been here and conscious?" Bradley asked, Saphire, completely dropping his friendly tone. "For about thirty minutes." Saphire answered. "I see." "Hey, what's with the commotion?" A flaming orange pelt came out from the cave. He stopped dead in his tracks. Griffin. "Oh lord..." Kate said rolling her eyes. "You two have a history?" Bradley asked, confused. Looking at Griffin, then Kate. "You could say that..." Seth replied. In spite of himself, Griffin padded up to Seth and Kate. "I think we got off to a bad start..." He started. He extended his paw. Seth smiled and shook with him. Kate did the same. "Haha..." Saphire laughed. "WIll you be sleeping here tonight?" Bradley asked politely. "I would like to get to know you..." "Oh uh... no... haha... I'm sleeping with Seth tonight..." "With a Delta?" Bradley raised one brow. Then Kate realised what she said. "No! I meant... in the same den..." Bradley shrugged. "Okay then... See ya around Kate! You too Seth..." Bradley finished before he heard someone calling him inside the den. "Alright... So I guess this is good bye..." Saphire started. "Where will you be staying?" Kate asked. "Oh... Me and Liam and Alpha's... We sleep here..." "Although you will be going to the private dens won't you? HMm?" Griffin asked. "We don't want to hear giggling and thumping all night." Everyone had a laugh. "Yes Griffin... We are going to the separate dens..." "Good." Griffin smiled once more before walking back to the den. "Well, I suggest you head to Ruuqo's den." Saphire said, gesturing to the den at the top of the meeting rock. "Alright we'll head there now." Kate and Seth padded away, and Saphire headed to the lake to get ready.

"Hello? I-is there anyone in there?" Kate studdered. Ruuqo stepped out into the open. Followed by his mate, Rissa. "Hello you two." Ruuqo started. "Hello... Er..." Kate looked up at the ceiling. "Call me dad... Listen..." Ruuqo took a deep breath. "I have a proposition..." Rissa cringed at the word. "The word proposition is the wrong word..." She said bumping Ruuqo's side with her waist. "Listen dears... If you haven't already found out... Our daughter has died. She was need to marry Michael of the western wolves to cease the fighting within the two packs, but in a hunting accident..." RIssa paused and sniffed. "I'm sorry for your loss..." Seth said approaching Rissa. "Thank you..." Rissa said wiping her eyes. "Ruuqo has still not told me why he wanted Kate here but I am okay with whatever he wishes... However I do know that he wishes you to take the spot of his daughter... Do you accept?" Rissa asked, backing up to Ruuqo. Kate's mouth was open and moving but no words were coming out. "You don't have to decide now..." Said Ruuqo. Kate began to have bags under her eyes. "Thank you... Can I tell you tomorrow?" Kate asked. "Yes..." Rissa answered. Rissa's eyes lightened. "Oh and... The moonlight howl is tonight..." Ruuqo said. Rissa walked over to her mate's side. She whispered something in Ruuqo's ear, inaudible to Seth and Kate. Ruuqo nodded. "So, I guess you two should go get ready..." "Why should I get ready..." Seth asked. "Delta's aren't aloud to howl..." "Well we know... But since Ruqo and I became the leaders, we made it so every litter can howl..." Seth smiled at this but then he remembered. No Kate and him howling. Maybe we can sneak a bit of a howl... Seth thought. "So goodbye Seth and Kate." Ruuqo and Rissa said. "Good bye Ruuqo. Bye Rissa..." Seth said walking out. "Bye... Dad... and mom..." Kate said turning around. The two mates smiled and then Seth and Kate walked out.
