“Kate... Kate... Kate... Wake up...” Seth nuzzled her cheek with his nose. Kate slowly opened her eyes. She stretched her hind legs out and then slowly stretched her forepaws. “Good morning Seth...” She smiled. Then the smell of freshly killed meat flooded her senses. “Is that... For me?” “Well yeah... You slept in for a while and I had to leave you for school... I retried hunting... I succeeded this time!” Seth exclaimed excitedly. “How long was I sleeping?” Well for about 4 hours since I woke up... But I didn’t want to wake you up... You need all the rest you can get.” Kate looked up at Seth. He had a piece of moss in his mouth. It looked wet. “Have you been drooling all over that thing?” Kate asked playfully. “Surprisingly, No! I soaked it with water so you could drink!” Seth mumbled. He dropped the moss next to the meat. “Bon, appétit!” Seth exclaimed with a fake French accent. It was already noon. “I’m going for my second class in a bit...” Seth stated. “What’s next?” Kate asked. “I don’t know yet... I think survival... Liam’s teaching that...” Kate nodded. Seth pushed the moss and the meat towards her. She smiled at him thankfully and then started to eat. Seth chuckled. He sat down. He thought of something to say. “How did you sleep?” “Good thanks!” Kate replied through a mouthful of caribou. Who’s the injured one who’s eating now? Seth thought, remembering when the moose fell on top of him. Seth looked down at Kate. All that was left of the meat was a bone with little scraps of flesh on it, which Kate was intently licking off. When the bone was licked clean, she eyed the moss. She prodded it with one paw. “So how do I use this?” Kate asked. “Oh! For that you need me.” He put one paw under her chin, and pulled it up. “Now?” Kate asked. “Seth grabbed the moss, and ringed it out over her head. The water poured into her mouth. She intently licked and swallowed as it dropped into her mouth.
“Thanks!” Kate exclaimed, licking her lips. “Need anything else?” Seth asked, caringly. Just your love... Kate thought sadly. “No... I don’t...” Kate replied, looking down at her paws. “Well Liam has told me I have a good chance of becoming an Alpha...” Seth started. Kate’s eyes lit up. “That’s great!” Kate exclaimed. “It is?” Seth asked confused. Kate just realised she got up. “You should lie down...” Seth whispered. “No! I feel great!” Kate replied. Seth made a “Ok!” Gesture with his head. “How about I take you out for a walk?” “I would love that!” Kate exclaimed. Seth carefully led her outside, allowing her to lean on him. Everyone smiled upon seeing Kate back on her feet. “You’re looking good!” Destiny exclaimed, walking towards Kate and Seth. “Yeah! I feel good too!” Kate smiled. Destiny walked over to Seth and rubbed noses with him in a friendly manner. Kate held back a growl. “Well, we’re going to learn survival in 20 minutes so, I’ll see you then?” Destiny asked, beginning to walk away. Seth nodded. The lock over his scarred eye bounced with him. “Are you two... Like mates?” Kate asked, her voice almost trembling. “No! No no no no no no....” Seth laughed. “Destiny and I are just friends...” Seth explained. Kate nodded. “So are we going for a walk or not?” Kate asked. “Well of course!”
Seth led Kate through a forest. Seth made sure the trail he was taking was not bumpy so it would not hurt Kate’s paws. Kate looked up at the sky. Most of it was obscured from view, from the greenery, however little bits of blue were peeking in. “It sure is pretty...” Seth broke the silence. “Yeah... It is...” Kate sounded nervous. Seth paused. He turned around and padded over to Kate. “Are you ok?” Seth asked with a nervous look in his eyes. Kate looked down at her paws and nodded. “Well, you don’t look ok?” Seth put one paw under her chin and brought it up so he could look into her eyes. “If there’s anything bothering you...” Seth started but Kate interrupted him. “Yes... There is...”
Seth sat down intently. Kate took some relief at his eagerness to hear. “Even though we’re friends again, something is still leaving me longing...” Kate began, waiting to see Seth’s expression. Seth opened his mouth to speak, and Kate gulped. “Me too...” Seth replied back, looking away. “Really?” She asked him. “Do you know what it is?” Kate asked him. “I hate to say it although I...” Seth’s voice trailed off. “Yes?” Kate asked. Her heartbeat rate increased. “I think... I’m still in love with you?” Seth put on a worried face. Kate didn’t say anything back. She simply sat down and embraced Seth. He put his arms around her in response. “I love you too...” Seth closed his eyes and was about to move his body closer to hers when he quickly moved away. He stared at Kate with disbelieving eyes.
