Hey guys, Emily asked me about that a little while and I thought it would be better if I post it somewhere. I hope you will be okay with me posting it here. :)
I have Adobe Photoshop CS5, but it's kinda similar, if you don't find something, just ask me. :) I took a random video with Chair with this site : link . Now it's time for you to make some screencaps, I'm using KMPlayer, you can do the caps using the CTRL + G from keyboard.
Once you finished with the screencaps, you can move in Photoshop. I have Photoshop Portable and it seems the only way to make gifs in it is by open every screencap you have. If you have a normal Photoshop you can go to File> Import > Video Frames to Layers { that option can be made if you have your video in the AVI Format too}.
Go to the Window > Animation and here is where we're gonna play with our gifs. I'm gonna make a special layer for my gif and I'll open it in a new layer, you can choose the size, but don't make it too big. In the animation window {the thing that just apperead} you'll see this thing :
link Press there and the place with frames will appear. Now you have to open your screecaps and drag them in the file you made. I'm gonna use 20 frames. When you're done with the layers, you have to press the little arrow from the corner of the Animation ang Make Frames from Layers. You're gonna do the same thing with the arrow and press S from the keyboard to select all the new frames you have got and select a delay { I'll go with 0,15}, but that depends on your gif. If somewhere it's write 'Once' you have to change it into 'Forever' and now press start to see how your gif moves.
You can add some effects and/or textures to give it some color. :) If you want to sharpen your frames, you have to do it with every layer, remember don't press Merge Visible. :) When you finished you have to go at Save for Web & Devices in the File menu. If you want to post it on tumblr, you have to make the size of your gif under 1 MB .
That's mine : link
If you have any questions or anything, ask me. :)
