Now, none of these are perfect films, I will be listing their flaws, but I do like these 4, and I will list why; feel free to decide I am stupid and should never have an opinion again, but sadly I'm stubborn and these are sticking as firm faves - or at least likes.
4.The black cauldron: flaws = underdeveloped characters, basic story, bland, no signature musical numbers.
My thoughts: I didn't put atlantis here as that is still quite respected within it's own cult, but there are very few people who like this. Despite being blander than other films, it's no home on the range, and I love the artwork, chilling villain to rival Maleficent, expertly voiced by John Hurt, and the sweet, sassy, subtle praise the lord, eilonwy, who is a the perfect [i.e balanced yet believable] mix of demure and rebellious.
3. Ferngully; flaws = preachy, cheesy, annoying hero.
My thoughts: Now, usually I find myself agreeing with Doug walker, but I don't known,It's a likable, if not amazing flick for me. I agree with the majority of criticism here, but I find Crysta fun, if not particularly memorable, batty being oddly endearing and Hexxus just being Tim curry coated awesomeness, so engaging and fun to watch - I'm not sorry, I can't hate anything with the Tim curry in - no, not even yuletide beauty and the beast. Ok, admittedly I'm a little biased; oh welp....
2.Rock and rule: flaws = inconsistent animation, being all over the place, bland characters, no semblance of plot.
My thoughts: This is what made me know adult animation exists outside of anime, and though it's rare to find any which isn't x rated awfulness [ Bashki really does not appeal to me] and even lead me to DC animated movies and anime. I love the character's of Angel, and Mok, the charismatic, engaging, hypnotizing villain, as well as the great soundtrack; as well as some hidden gems in the dialouge, like when in a talent show, the host says ''fabuloso, I too enjoy the sound of cats in boiling water.'' I will say main issue is with Omar, who is the most unlikable character in animation; I understand he's meant to be an anti-hero, but the hero side isn't developed much, and he always sounds as if he's whining. Also, they really cheaped out with side character's voice acting, which, at times makes me want to rip my ears off and cradle them back to sweet mercy. Still, it is a rollercoaster ride of a film if you're willing to accept it shortcomings; and for better or worse your eyes and mind are always firmly on screen.
1.I'm sorry Nostalgia critic, I agree on some, if not most things with ya; the lion king, meet the Robinson's and the grinch with you, but I just like what you dub a bad movie here - Quest for Camelot.
Flaws:inconsistent animation, character who is supposed to be a fighter but never actually does anything active, bad writing and a hammy villain.
First off, I wish they stuck too the idea of an adult animated film here, and that disappoints me every time I watch it, but it's not nearly as bad as people would say it is and heck, I wouldn't hesitate to show my kids it if I ever have any [doubtful]
I love the soundtrack, the animation, when it's consistent [every shot from a reasonable distance really fudges up Kayley's face] and Garret's character and I think Hammy villain's are the epitome of fun, however badly written, they are so captivating.
Whilst the dragons are annoying, especially the song, Eric Idle does manage a funny line or two, and if you took away the hideous song it's probably only the design that would annoy you.
Now, to marmite herself Kayley - this is a long defense of her, so wait this one out a while...
I don't love her character, but I do like it, and she does actually grow, she is seen pretending to fight whilst doing chores, and it's made obvious she isn't allowed to really fight, so she has to make do.When she is confronted, she is captured, but this isn't her fantasy and she is ill prepared; and she does manage to escape, and make a friend who will help her. Even when she isn't as strong as she thinks, she is enchanted by the forest, and goes from being a little annoying to following order's, when Garret tells her to be quiet by the troll thingy, and even has the courage to go by herself when Garret says he can't go with her. She IS captured again, and that is annoying, BUT she did crawl under sewers [IDK what they're meant to be really] and earlier over odd rocks, and that in itself is pretty brave, and then she swings into Ruber; proving she does do things for herself in the film even with having minimum experience and being quite naive. At the end when she is knighted, she is happy to be in king Arthur's presence with garret; being knighted, not because of her dress and I doubt anyone wouldn't meet their dream hero because of clothing.
So, do you agree with me or the majority; what films do you like, even if they can be sneered upon - tell me in the comments below :]
Never DIsney's worst
Fun, if not amazing
An experience of a film that you won't forget in a hurry
So sue me, I like Kayley :L
