House was reading his newest copy of Teen People when Cuddy sauntered in to his office.
"And to what do I owe this displeasure?"
Smiling, Cuddy took the photograph from her pocket and placed it in front of him.
He gave her one of his trademark smirks.
"I was trying to decipher your weird gesture. I mean, why give Lucas a picture of you as a cheerleader, as some form of humiliation, when I'm the girl your holding? He thinks it's a fake and he thinks that I think that it's a fake, but you and I both know different. Was it to show me that you know I'm on to your devious plans?"
"Maybe it was, or maybe I was in a nostalgic mood and wondered..."
"If I ever think about those days." she said taking a seat.
"Do you?"
"Why do you wonder all of a sudden? We never really talk about the Michigan days."
"There's no Wilson around to bug so that leaves you."
Chuckling to herself, Cuddy took the magazine from his hands forcing him to focus fully on her.
"I remember when you tried out. You were terrible, but I knew you had a little crush on me..."
"Please, there was no crush," he said as he shifted in his seat.
"Yeah right. Anyway, I was the reason you got on the team. I told Cindy Braden I would take full responsibility for you. I also knew she was cheating on her boyfriend so I had some leverage too."
House smiled proudly at the confession.
"Why Lisa Cuddy, I didn't know you had it in you. But why was it so important to let me on the team?" he asked with fake innocence.
Cuddy stood up and smiled that bemused smile of hers.
"Maybe I had a little crush of my own," she said as she turned to leave the office.
House smiled brightly and picked up the photo to stare at it.
"Lucas doesn't stand a chance," he said to himself as he tenderly traced a finger over the young Cuddy's face.
