After last weeks 'somewhat slow' episode, this week follows up with a formula it knows how to do well. It WAS, predictable, I'm not going to lie (sorry), but it was good. And when it comes to a show like this, it means it was amazing.

Now I'm going to say right off the bat, I found myself smiling like an idiot when I watched the opening scene between Cal and Gillian. The way they played off of eachother was a real treat to watch, and even how they handled the situation after the fact was something else. (I, for one, never thought Cal would bring up Gillians "fib"; "So you like being tied up?" I almost passed out!)
However, if you've read any of my reviews, you know I don't like getting into the shipping aspect of the show, but this episode was packed full of it, so it's a little difficult not to talk about it.
And while this episode became one where I knew how it was going to end (for the first 80% of the show, anyway) I loved how they managed to tie in Emily's character into the main story for once, rather than have her cheering from the sidelines. And with a subject matter like this, it really showed us exactly HOW mature she is, and how much emotional weight she can handle (especially in her scene with Gillian). So I really hope to see Emily involved a bit more. (And just to see how Cal would handle it.)

And while Emily finally had a bigger role, Eli and Ria finally tested their chemistry (again) and (again) hit it off.
And while they had no involvement in the plot (again) the writers covered it up by having Cal throw a promotion at them and watched them go at it...or where it took them. (Frankly, I'm glad to see Eli get it...now let's just see if the writers DO something about it.)

And as predictible as this episode was, the ending threw me off. For the first time in the series, (I BELIEVE), Cal fixed everything with a lie, rather than making things all right by uncovering the truth. This time, things almost went TOO deep, and he had to back up a bit.
However what I REALLY loved, was what he said in the end with Emily. "I just hope I made the right decision." (Along those lines, at least)
Meaning he was AWARE of what that lie might do to the family if anyone was to slip up, but he felt confident enough in them to go with it.
And I believe, it was because of the relationship that Emily had with both girls. So she REALLY affected the outcome of this episode.

And now, alas, we are almost done this season, and I am almost done with writing reviews. Come the Finale it will be my last review...unless there's REALLY an episode that I want to write down immediatly after, but as the series goes on I know that I'm not really needed to point out the obvious to all of you fans, and therefore these reviews arn't really needed. (Unless there's a massive outcry from everyone saying 'DONT QUIT!!' but I HIGHLY doubt that.)
And really, everyone is smart enough to figure out the episodes for themselves, and all I've ended up doing is writing what I thought down. But there's so many more voices than mine, and probably ones that can put words together alot better than I can.

I wont stop writing these reviews forever, they just won't be every week. (Because sometimes I really do need these reviews to help organize my thoughts...or at least make an attempt to.)
However, sometime I would just like to watch an episode...and see what everyone else has to say besides me.

"But even as a little kid, like most kids, I thought it would be great to be an actor but I think that's quite often a common fantasy for children. But the fact that it all actually happened and that various things fell into place is quite extraordinary. In the middle of all of this I'm still amazed my career eventuated - considering where I come from."

Roth grew up worlds away from the entertainment business. His mother, Anne, is a teacher and landscape painter, and father Ernie, is a journalist. The family grew up in middle class London. Roth attended school in Brixton where he found he had...

Tim Roth has enjoyed the switch from big screen roles to a TV series. Photo / SuppliedTim Roth, star of Lie To Me, returns to his second season as Dr Cal Lightman, genius psychologist who deciphers micro-expressions to obtain the truth from veteran criminals. He may not always be the smartest guy in the room, but he probably knows more than anyone else.

In a role some say this London-born actor was destined to play, Roth, 48, is having the time of his life. "What I like about the second...

The uneasy silence continued when all three entered the house.

Gillian went and perched on the edge of a chair whilst Emily stomped her way through to the kitchen.

Cal made a quick appraisal and decided to tackle the easier of the two problems by following his daughter through to the kitchen.

“Still sulking are we, daughter of mine?”

Emily was standing at the kitchen sink getting a glass of water, she had her back to her father and made no effort to reply or turn to acknowledge Cal in any way.

“Cum on Em, whatsup? I was always under the impression that you secretly wanted this to happen”...

Cal stood motionless in the middle of his library, his freshly opened bottle of beer dangling loosely from his finger tips.

Gillian’s parting retort was still stinging him and his already bruised and sleep deprived brain was desperately trying to work out what the hell had just happened.
Gaining a better grip on his beer he went and threw himself back onto his couch.
God he was tired. Afghanistan, travelling, lying (to Emily, Zoe, Gill and..most of all himself) and he was certainly too tired to exit his sanctuary and return to the bloody festivities that were ensuing outside.

Guilt got the better...

This season’s Lie To Me has been a nail biter, ratings wise as well as plot-wise, as the show has been slowly building its audience Monday nights at 9:00. Two months ago, FOX only ordered three more episodes, calling the long term future of the Tim Roth show into question. Fortunately, new show runner Shawn Ryan’s sure touch at the helm has brought critics on board this procedural with a difference and fans of the show gave a sigh of relief when FOX decided in late November to order the back nine episodes for the spring.

That makes this Monday’s episode the fall finale and it looks to...
