Something to keep in mind is that I'm not someone that grew up playing the Mario games or watching the Mario cartoons or the live-action movie. Despite not having much experience with the Mario franchise, I was interested in seeing the film.

The film shows their rise to heroism, while also showing how strong and useful Princess Peach can be.

Princess Peach steals the show. Her heroism is powerful and impressive, while her style is something that certainly catches the eyes. Bowser is an intimidating, entertaining villain.

As usual, Jack Black is very energetic and fun. Seth Rogen doesn't sound much different than he usually does, but his Donkey Kong voice still works. Fred Armisen gives a very unrecognizable, funny performance as King Cranky Kong.

The imaginative characters and their worlds are visual treats. The characters have very charming, stylish, distinct designs. From the unique design of Mario to the beautiful look of Princess Peach, the characters are filled with visual appeal. The animation looks particularly impressive when the characters are shown racing.
