One Direction, thrown together by Simon Cowell, were made up from a collection of contestants who didn’t manage to make it through the boot camp stage of auditions last year.

It was now the day of the boys’ return. They couldn’t wait to come home and see everybody. Liam had longed to see Carter’s sparkling eyes for quite a while now, but the fact that she may not remember him scared him slightly.
