Did I really think he would stay single forever?
I thought that I would be the only one that could ever feel such devotion towards him. Through the years, I would be the one to tear him away from romance. I tore him away because I couldn’t picture him with anybody else. Anyone else …. but me. Too bad, I always forced myself to bite my tongue whenever I had a chance.
Now, it was too late for me to come back into his life.
My knees wobbled as I forced myself to keep standing. Though, I still had to lean with one arm against the wooden doorway to keep up with my poise. Somehow, batting my eyelids still made, keeping back tears, hard. I honestly wanted to vomit. This was the last thing I would have expected from him.
My old friend stood under a lush and luxuriant arch that stood at the front of my family’s yard. His muddy brown eyes gleamed at one side, with his brown spikes properly groomed. His usual shirt and vest was substituted with a black ironed dress shirt, suitable for a romantic night. Oh god and his smile- that smile …….. That smile could cheer anyone up out of the dumps. So why didn’t it cheer me up? Oh, right. I may have felt this way because of the person those eyes and that smile beamed upon.
Lily twirled a lock of her bubble gum hair between her middle and index finger, flirtingly. Her sapphire eyes gazed back into his as they stood very close. Too close. My sister’s foot dangled like a ballerina. Unlike me, her poise was perfect, graceful, and beautiful. Let’s face it. I was and always would be the second choice.
She had told me that her boyfriend was coming over to the gym for a week. I thought it would be yet another dashing guy that she met at a bar the week before. Not saying that her friend wasn’t handsome. But, perhaps, Brock had fallen into my sister’s fondness, too. Like how a Mothim might mistakenly fly into a Carnivine, only to receive the deathly truth. Unlike Brock, I knew what would happen.
Like usual, Lily would think that she had fallen in love with a sweet, handsome, and funny guy. Though, soon enough, she would get tired of this guy and break up with him. If this guy was a player, they would just shake off the news and move on. Though, if this guy was, well, a guy like Brock, they would go depressed. These men didn’t deserve that. I could tell that my childhood friend really liked Lily. Hopefully, she would let him go easily.
