Ranma 1/2 Question

Do you think Shampoo's love for Ranma is real or fake?

Most people I'v discussed with have said that Shampoo's feelings for Ranma are untrue, and the only reason she chases him is due to her Chinese tribal law.

However, I believe her (and even Ukyo's) love for Ranma is real, just like Akane's. (Kodachi... I'm not to sure about. XD)

If you recall in the first Ranma 1/2 OVA, even after Ranma bested Shampoo in combat for the second time she still hated him (because of the Reversal Jewel). Without the jewel, her love for him flowed freely as always.

What do you think?

I think Shampoos love for Ranma is real but extremely unhealthy, misguided and insane. Because of Tribal Law she was obligated to be engaged to Ranma. I believe that her devotion to her Tribe is so powerful that she would take Ranma's defeat of her as a divine sign that they were meant to be together, and Ranma being such a hot tamale it's not that much of a stretch for this to easily evolve to infatuation and then love.

Perhaps her feelings are only an obsessive infatuation. It would be easy to say this because it is obvious she is more interested in GETTING Ranma for herself than making him happy.

I would say, however, that Shampoo is truly in love with Ranma and her seemingly selfish graspings at him and lashings out at his other fiancees is because of her upringing as a Tribal Warrior Princess.

In conclusion; feelings: true but misguided

i think considering her laws, showing affection nomatter what form he's in might be a tactic to win him over. See. "look, I accept you nomatter what so I'm obviously the best choice, yes?" So I wouldn't look into that TOO much.

She believes that she's in love with Ranma but actually she's not and she can't see her feelings because she's too busy to win Ranma, maybe she likes the way he is not the person he is, she said herself "Shampoo only love stong men" then that means she likes Ranma just because of he's strong and could beat anyone even herself, or maybe she just forces herself on him.
Anyway she doesn't love him for real!!

I think it's real because Shampoo loves to be with Ranma.also if she doesn't love Ranma she would act just like any ordinary girl.watch episode 01 of ova
she had a jewerly that produce opposite feelings for Ranma. After that when Ranma challenged Shampoo to a fight Ranma won, then Shampoo cried and said:Alright Shampoo marry Ranma. But Shampoo's heart will never be taken away even if Ranma steal
Shampoo's body!
And if opposite of that Shampoo is already kissing Ranma SO PEOPLE IT IS REAL!And if she doesn't love Ranma she'd follow the rules sadly and be complaining about it...but she's not

i think she cares for him, but I also think she'd been on an emotionally roller coaster which by the end shampoo truly felt betrayed and hurt, but she didn't know him enough to be in love with RANMA. But its like a fairy tale, or a dream that falls a part. When a girl fall in love with a man and then find out he's a two-timmer or something and the whole thing was just an act, what hurts the most is the man you love, he never really existed, but sometimes to hurt him would only destroy the memory of the time you were happy, even if its a lie to kill him could also kill what left of the memories of your "fairy tale" when you were together, and sometimes its just not worth it.

but akane and ukyo get jelous for the same reason. Plus jelousy could be love or it could be possessiveness, ya know. Besides you ever notice most all rumiko's main series the cannon couple end up living together. When they live together they actually get to know each other. Shampoo may have some crush, but she doesn't even really know ranma, and never had a normal conversation with him or even close enough to just pick at one another. You can't really claim to love him if you don't really know him. ranma and akane live together, develop and relationship, turn to each other when they are in trouble or need some one to help them in some scheme, like with happosai, fight and make up, and basically get to know each other and build a relationship, which would probably have been much further along in romance if it wasn't for all the interference.

I have nothing against shampoo, but she really doesn't know ranma that well, so I can't see how she's ACTUALLy in love with him. SHE may truly believe she IN love with him, but she's not. and to be honest i think her feeling for ranma are kinda....unhealthy.

Shampoo does care for Ranma, in an unhealthy, possessive kinda way, which we can excuse because of the way shampoo was raised, but she doesn't even really KNOW Ranma. She's always tried to win him over and never really got close enough to try having a normal conversation with him. IHOW can shampoo be in love with a man she doesn't even really know? O do think that shampoo truly thinks she is infact, inlove with ranma, but the reality i s shampoo is only inlove with the ideal of him and not Ranma himself. That's not real love, and Shampoo herself may not even truly understand what love is. However, it doesn't mean she'll be any less hurt when the times comes that poor shampoo will finally be forced to face reality.
Sometimes I think Ranma is selfish for not making up his mind. I know he doesn't want to hurt anyone, but not only do his word and actions hurt the women he loves the MOST, but shampoo, ukyo, and akane have ALL out their lives on hold, waiting for ranma to JUST make up his mind, and the longer he makes them wait the more it'll hurt the other two in the end. Kinda sad really.
Any way to sum this up
\while shampoo may have \genuine feelings for Ranma, stemming from him being her first real crush, the notion that shampoo is actually in love with ranma is nothing short of the word fake.
