Courtney's POV
Looks like Duncan and Gwen are getting close. A little too close. Lucky for me that Duncan and I have next period together so I can keep a close eye on MY boyfriend. So I was just walking to class and I saw Duncan and Gwen walking side by side! Well, I guess it's not that bad. Ok, now I'm steamed. He was holding Gwen's hand! I was just about to jump in and give gothy the beating of a life time until Trent jumped in. Thank goodness he broke up their little love feast. I caught up to the group and held Duncan's hand to make sure gothy got the message. I smiled at him. "C'mon Duunky, we're gonna be late for guitar class."
we walked hand in hand as I rushed him a little faster away from Gwen and Trent.

Trent's POV
Ok so Courtney and Duncan are gone, there's hardly any one in the hall way, and it's time to make my move. It was just me and hopefully my future girl, Gwen. I wanted to ask her to the dance. Ok Trennt just go for it. I began, "So Gwen, mind if I ask you something." "What you wanna ask?" she responded. "Um there's this y'now thing on Friday and I sorta wanted to know if you wanna go.... with me." She gave me a confused look. "Ok but what is this event that you speak of?" she asked. I was a little too embarrassed to tell her that it was a dance. I mean, was I sounding too desperate? It's her first day! Of course I'm sounding desperate. But, y'now she looks like a cool chick. Out with it. "Will you go to the dance with me?" I rapidly murmured. I closed my eyes, just waiting for the rejection. Then she said, "Um.. yeah, I guess that'll be cool." So was that a yes? It's a yes! Ha! Take that delinquent. "cool." I calmly replied.

Duncan POV
Ugh, is it that hard to ask one girl to the dance? Now that she's alone with Elvis, who knows what sort of A type moves he's putting on her. I rolled my eyes at the thought. Then, Elvis and Gwen entered the room. I grinned at her and waved. Of course Courtney slapped me on the back of my head. "Oww!" I grunted. She looked at me annoyed. Typical Princess. The class started and Ms. Reshinick told us all to pick up our guitars. She told us to seperate into two groups. Acoustic and Electric. I looked at Gwen as she tried to make a decision considering that she plays both. She explained her case to the teacher and Ms.Resihinick just told her to play in whatever group she wants. I was in electric while Court and Elvis were in acoustic. I noticed Heather was there too. She was in acoustic. In the end Gwen chose electric. Probably to be away from Heather but all I care about is that she is away from Trent, wow I think that's the first time I ever called him that. Ok, now's my chance. The class were working on melodies when I heard her play. It was beautiful y'know in a rock, metal kind of way. "Rockin." I commented her. She laughed. I loved it when she laughed. It's time to make my move. " So Gwen there's this dance on Friday and I figured since that your in to me and all, maybe you wanted to go." I saw Courtney glare at me. I ignored her. Gwen blushed. Then as just as she was about to say yes, she remembered something. "Ok first of all, I'm not into you. And second of all, Trent already asked me but maybe we can do something this Saturday. Cool?" I mouthed the words, "Crap." Then I said, "yeah sure so it's a DATE." I said it loud enough for Elvis to here. "Sure," she replied, "just to friends hanging out." Her words soon faded away when she realized what she just done I guess. Probably disappointed that she should've turn down Elvis when she had the chance. I know, I sorta have a problem with thinking that all the girls I like, like me back. My method's been working so far. Gwen's just in deni...... Wait? Did I just say I like Gwen. I sighed. Why don't we just try to get through the rest of the day Duncan. I picked up a piece of sheet music and started rocking out I really liked it. I looked at the title. It read, My Secret Love. Then I looked at the writers name under the title. It read, by Gwen (Rivera). (that's Gwen's last name in my fan fic.) Gwen heard me playing her song. She ran over there and snatched it off of my stand. "Wow calm down sunshine." I sarcastically replied to her action. "Where'd you get this?" she asked. Hey she seems kinda cute when she's angry. "I found it over there in that pile." She calmed down, sighed, and took a seat. I patted her back as I tried to comfort her. "What's wrong sunshine?" She grunted. "Oh nothing it's just that, I wrote that song when I was in the 7th grade and I was just embarrassed amongst who ever saw it because it is sorta unexpected from a goth to write such a sappy love song and I was just." I saw a tear roll down her cheek. I wiped it off of her beautiful face and said, "Well if it helps, I thought it was pretty cool. We both smiled at each other for a moment. I swear, we were this close to locking lips when the bell rung. Stupid bell!!!! I waved good bye to Gwen like nothing ever happened. We weren't together for 3rd period but lucky for me, neither was Elvis but, he does have 3rd period with me. What a joy.

Gwen POV
Ok so Duncan practically just asked me out. I said no because of Trent. Is it wrong that I really wanted to say yes? Then he discovered my humiliating song that I left lying on the floor. Then he almost kissed me! Anyway, I'm going to the dance with Trent, not Duncan. I think I should just focus on that. I took out my sketchbook in math(i.e 3rd period)and started sketching whatever my heart was telling me to. I made a line, then another, the final product huhhhh! I can't believe I just drew that! It was a giant heart with an arrow going through it. You know what I wrote in it? Yep, you guessed it, Duncan + Gwen. Ok I'm going crazy. My heart is pounding, my palms are sweating, and I feel so confused it's just crazy. Ugh, I need a glass of water. I went over to the water fountain and found Courtney sitting next to it kinda sobbing. Seeing me, didn't help the way she felt. "You!" she screamed at me. She drew a crowd. "It's your fault why Duncan isn't in to me anymore. You just HAD to ruin it for me! I mean who would ever fall for such a lame excuse for a goth!" I tear rolled down her eye. She pushed me up against a locker and got all up in my face. " This is your first and final warning, STAY AWAY FROM DUNCAN!" She then, slapped me across the face and strutted away. "Oww!" I whined. Ok that was harsh. The crowd just stared at me, waiting for me to make my next move. I panicked and ran away onto the school's playground. (i know a playground in highschool) I was just sobbing away until I heard a familiar voice behind me. It was Duncan. " Why so sad sunshine?" Same sarcastic Duncan I see. I snickered. Then I sighed again. "It's Courtney." He interrupted me. "Oh you heard about the break up?" Oh so that's why Courtney was so steamed. I was wearing a hood. I pulled it down and Duncan realized the bright red mark that she left on my cheek. "wow!" Duncan marveled at the sight. "Courtney slapped me across the face. She thought that I was stealing you away from her." I could tell that Duncan was pretty ticked. "That jerk Courtney. So annoying. Maybe she just wasn't the right girl for me." Duncan explained. He smiled at me a dreamy smile. It was silent but the silence was eventually broken by Trent. "What are you doing with Duncan?" he asked. I replied, "Nothing, I was just leaving." I walked away to the nurse's office without saying a word to either boys until Trent called behind me, SEE YOU AT THE DANCE TOMORROW!

Duncan POV
SEE YOU AT THE DANCE TOMORROW? Did Trent just say that to tick me off. He did it again! I need to get him out of the picture. He was still standing in front of me while I was sitting down on the floor. "Oww!" The little twerp kicked me in the stomach. "Stay away from my girl if you know what's best for you." Courtney and Trent would make a matching pair. Before he could walked away, I answered, "Why should I? I don't see her flirting with you?" He looked back. "Excuse me?" he angrily asked. The bell rang for lunch. "I'll deal with you later." Trent said as he poked my chest, hard. I was now talking to myself. I'm not giving up that easily Gwen. I'll take down Trent and Courtney one by one. I'll protect you. Gwen is great, Gwen is amazing, Gwen is cute, Gwen is smart...... I can go on all day.
