Chapter 27: I finally pushed my hand through the surface, the wind brushed my fingertips. The ground felt hard, dusty and gravely like a dirt road. I dragged the rest of my body to the top; I looked down and realized I had been dressed in what must have been a long white gown. I’m going to kill that son of a……URRRRG! I thought. I glanced around to figure out were they had taken me, I was defiantly not in Toronto, to my left and right were wide stretched rice fields, a gravel road stretched in front of me, no buildings in sight. I stood up, I was pretty sure I was no longer in Canada period. I walked down the road for maybe 20 minutes when I saw the sign, and then I knew exactly where I was. There, on the side of the road, the sign read Welcome to Shinda Mura (Japanese for Dead Village). All I could think was did they bury me here on purpose? Did they remember who lives here? It was a small island off the east coast of Japan called Teikoku Island. It was a special island, extremely small and no mortal knew about it, it was owned by the Teikoku family, Strygois family. He came from an extremely powerful family; his parents were part of the royal Lamia (Latin for vampire) 6. A group of the world’s first vampires, they say they were created when the world was first born. In the undead bible made by the original 6, an angel of each race and gender was forced onto earth and striped of their wings. As time went on and the angels repopulated they started to become resentful of religion, God and other human life. Their rage caused them to go on rampage; killing innocent humans and draining there blood to taunt God. As punishment they were killed and sent to hell, Satan turned them as immortal as he could and spat them back onto earth, to piss off the universe obviously. It worked but they were not living nor dead so there was nothing God could do except wait and hope they died out. What he didn’t know was that when one vampire bites a human of the opposite gender they create a new vampire. Since the devil couldn’t make the originals fully immortal they did slowly age, I mean like for them 1 year=1000 years. Their children were the same, except they age like normal humans till they turn 16, then they age really slowly. As they evolved the new vampires did become fully immortal, but once in a while the original families give birth to a human child who will usually be a bit of an outcast till he agrees to be turned into a vampire at a given age. Strygoi was born human and when he met me and Antonio at the age of 18 he got me to turn him into a vampire. The reason it has to the opposite gender that bite a human to turn them is actually rather simple, when we bite a human a hormone like substance flows from our fangs to the human, like poison from a snake. The hormone attacks the nervous system and freezes it, freezes everything causing all growth, decay and body function to stop, except the brain which freezes but does not stop functioning. If we bite someone of the same gender it’s like mixing a female chromosome with another female chromosome, nothing happens. Of course to turn them they would have to be dead or dying. I continued to walk along the road; houses began to come into view, a village of vampires. All the houses were extravagant, traditional Japanese houses. There were probably roughly 30 to 40 but it was hard to tell. The Teikoku were not only rich from centuries of harbouring money and owning a village of filthy rich vampires, they were also the founders of the IBT International Blood Trade, a vampire trade business for those with enough money to under the counter purchase blood. Vampires around the world posing as doctors and nurses ship out all different amounts and kind of blood a day; of course some of it has to be forcefully taken so the missing blood isn’t obvious. I had been taught to hunt so I never bothered trying to buy it. I walked to the very end of the village which would have taken hours for a human but a mere half an hour for me. The house was huge, with red shingles and the rest plain wood. A large wrap around porch and balcony surrounded the house, and an impressive garden full of lush plant, herbs and flowers, which were being tended to by an elderly women in an apron her hair fallin. I walked up the steps feeling out of place in my tattered dress. I knew I would be welcome here, I always was. I was the one who turned Strygoi which made me an important part of their undead lives. I knocked on the large doors, it had swirled brass handles and bolts. The door opened and standing in front of me were Strygois 12 year old twin sisters Umeko, who wore purple jeans, plum t-shirt and short purple hair, and her sister Midori who wore a green blouse, kilt and had her long emerald hair in a braid. They were a little odd compared to the rest of the family but still my favourite.
“Oh, Genevieve what are you doing here?” they asked. They were also the only ones who called me by my real name. Just then the door opened wider and Strygoi stared back at me, his face paler than it should be.
“I was going to ask you the same thing” I said looking at Strygoi.
