Chapter 1: Andrew
I had totally forgotten about Andrew for the time being, so slowly I straightened up so I could see the person standing next to me. He’s posture was the same as it was when me and Katie both came here to talk to him together but now me and Andrew were alone in the hallway with no distractions. As I looked at him our eyes met and it was completely different from the first time we locked gaze, now it was more peaceful and not as tense as it was before. We stood there like idiots searching for a person right in front of you, at least that’s what it would seem like to a person but for me it was like I was searching deep inside him trying to search within him., looking for the person who I wanted him to be. But as we started at each other I realized that I never answered his question so I said in a shaky voice, “Um, yes I am.”
“So you’re the one that’s going to be my tour guide?” he asked with a smile on is face.
“Yeah” I said, “I guess I am.” With that said we started walking down the hall to start at the cafeteria so we could end with the gym. The whole time I was guiding Andrew through the halls I noticed that he kept staring at me, with a look of interest, but I couldn’t let that distract me. I knew he was bad and I couldn’t let myself get attached to him, but a voice in my head just kept telling me to give into it. The voice telling me this had a sweet, deep, velvet voice that would convince anyone, but me. Instead of listening to the voice I ignored it and focused on finishing the tour, but it seemed to take a life time just to finish the tour of the school but finally we seemed to get through it with some spare time on our hands.
It was pretty cool to show some one around the school but it my legs start to feel like jelly so I sat down on one of the benches near my locker. At first I thought that Andrew left but a moment later he sat down next to me.
The first few minutes was nothing but silence, then without warning Andrew spoke up and said, “So can you help me find my first class?” I Simply said, “What’s your first class?” I was expecting him to say some thing like “Ms. Quinter, science” because that was what mostly every one had for first hour so I figured that he was part of everyone but what he said surprised me.
His answer was, “I have Mr. Hugh, Math.” Was it a coincidence that we both had the same class?, Was he just joking? Or was he serious? I didn’t know the answer to the question or to the other question that was making me go insane. Was he really that smart? Mr. Hugh’s class first period was for the smart kids, I wondered if he was as smart as he looked, hmmm.
I was lost in my own train of thought, what brought me back to reality was when Andrew cleared his throat and said, “So can you help me get to my class?”
For some reason my mind went blank for a few seconds while I tried to remember what we were talking about. The silence was gone long enough for Andrew to say, “Hey Amy, are you alright?” Confusion was swimming through me but was gone as quick as it had come, one moment I was blank then the next I was feeling perfect, it was so strange that I could hardly believe it. “Focus!!!” said the voice in my head. The voice was right I had to focus I couldn’t let this guy catch me off guard for a second.
“I’m fine” I said “Just a little surprised”.
“Why are you surprised? I got the impression that nothing could surprise you” he answered.
“Well….its just that not many people here are smart and I would have never guessed that you would be one of the five percent of the transfer students that are smart. If you ask me I would have said that you are just a hot guy that doesn’t really care about his education, that you care more about how you looks than you do about your books , no offense though.”
“No offense taken. Its just that you are the one who surprises me.”
“How so?” I said.
“Well first of all, you seem different from everyone else here, secondly you seem too observant, and thirdly you seem to be suspicious of me when no one else seems to be.”
Wow, he really is different, I thought to myself.. Is it a possibility that he could be inhuman? Could there really be other creatures out in the world that are worst than you could possibly imagine? Whatever it was creeped me out!!! But I knew that I didn’t have time to think about this Andrew was waiting for an answer.
“Well you are quite different yourself too” I said to him.
He smiled and said, “You have no idea how different I am.” Desire started to form inside of me, I wanted to ask him the one question that I’ve been dying to ask him for so long. But right when I was going to ask him how different he was he said, “We better get to class. We wouldn’t want to be late now would we.”
As I stood up I asked, “Did the bell ring already?”
“Yes it did, like three minutes ago” he replied.
“Shoot! We got to go! NOW!!!” I almost yelled.
“Waoh, chill out Amy” he started to say but I cut him off and said, “Come on! I cant be late, I’ve never been late for any class in ages, I cant brake that now”. As I half-walked and half-ran down the hall I realized that Andrew wasn’t following me, so I stopped and said, “Hurry up!!!”
Andrew was slowly walking down the hall, looking like a Greek goddess. By the time he reached me the bell rang and I was planning on running to class but when I turned Andrew caught my hand and held on to it. Man he is strong, I thought to myself but the thought was overpowered by my need to get to class.
“Andrew let go!” I said. But he didn’t and I knew that he wouldn’t let go, so I gave up and stopped struggling. He relaxed when I stopped struggling but once he let me go I collapsed right there on the floor.
