Critical Analysis of Twilight Article: Bella Swan: A Rant

Hi there! This is my first article on the C.A.T spot, about my least favorite character in twilight. Actually, my least favorite character in history.

Bella Swan.

I seriously can't see why so many twilight fans like her. She is said to be selfless, caring, understanding, and a good role model...when really she's the most selfish character in the whole book series.
Now then, here are several reasons why I dislike Bella.

1) Lack outside of Edward

Has Bella -even once- mentioned in any of the novels what she wanst to do with her life? (Besides wanting to be a vampire to be with Edward forever) Not once. She doesnt want to go to colledge, she has no hobbies (unless you count whining a hobby), and has no goals whatsoever. It seems that her whole life is Edward and wanting to be a vampire. What does tha say to readers? That we should give up everything to be with a man?

2) Friends

Now, the minute Bella steps into Forks she's the most popular girl there. All guys want her, and all the girls are her friend. There all very nice to her, but admit it, she a crappy friend. She hardly even talks to any of them unless to use them, and doesnt seems intrested in them at all. When Edward leaves her in new moon, she ignores all of them for months when she goes into her Zombie State. Wow, what a great friend.
Also, she treats her best friend, Jacob, sometimes like dirt. He was helping her in new moon, and the minute Edward comes back, she throws Jacob to the side like a used napkin, when he helped her.

3) Lets Edward Push Her Around

Now, why many see Edward as the perfect boyfriend, I, for one, think he's just abusive. Yes, he does have his moments, but...come on, he took the engine out of her car to prevent her from seeing Jacob. If I were Bella, I smack him. But Bella just uses the excuse, "its because he loves me" and "he just overprotective"
Right.
What happened to Girl Power?

4) Whining
Oh. My. God.
She whines like a little girl ALL THE TIME!
Especially in New Moon!
Everytime she went on about this "whole in her chest", or complained, I wanted to throw the book at the wall. How many times I wanted to yell "Get yourself together girl", I don't really know.
Also, in new moon, her persanality is just flat and obsessive.

5) Reapeats About Edwards "Hotness"
Okay, Bella made a reference to Edwards beauty 165 times...

In the first book!

By the middle of twilight, I was rolling my eyes, thinking 'Okay, we get it. You think he's hot. Moving on."
Honestly, I don't think the books would be so big if she kept making commenst about his "beauty." Honestly, is she in love with him or his looks? Guess we will never know.

Okay, thats it folks! There are probaly other reason why I dislike Bella...actually there's a thousand, but I wont go into them right now. This however, is just the main 5 reasons I don't like Bella.
To end this, I would like to say I am very sorry if I offended anyone. I just wanted to share my opinion. If you are a Bella fan, then thats is absoutly fine, I don't have a problem with that. Once again, I'm just sharing my opinion.

kateliness2 Great article... the part that bugs me most is the friends thing. I love Jacob, and she treats him like crap. And I totally agree on Edward's creepy-ness/borderline abuse.

katiecain All the points are very true. Well, 4 doesn't really bother me, her 'whining' in New Moon is one of my favourite parts of the book but I get what you mean xD 3, I would have smacked Edward too if he done that!

theEvildude You rock. Bella is also one of my least favorite characters, next to Edward Sparklepire. Let's give a moment to Tyler's van for its valiant attempts to rid the world of Bella Sue once and for all.

twinklystar_hp woohoo!! awesomeee!! bella swan is my least favourite character too! though i liked her until eclipse...eclipse marked her downfall in my view.. adding to your points are some more reasons why i hate her: 6) she is damn CONFUSED: why doesn't she wanna MARRY the guy whose name she takes while eating, talking, sleeping, breathing, fainting?? like u said in point 1- she hardly has ANY GOALS HOBBIES or any other interests than edward.. she doesn't give a crap abt any friends..all she wants is to be turned into a vamp and be with edward - yet one thign he asks her (to marry him) and she can't do that?? WHY?? see the thing is, not one of her reasons was VALID - agewise : hello she wud always be 18 after she turns..not liek she is going to age anyways..societywise: she doesn't give a damn abt any1 but the cullens, so who cares wht others think?? Edward or Jacob? i thought her heart was settledd with edward - then why the whole damn "i love u both" thing?? why kissing jacob back, and then calling him her sun, her soulmate?? she named her kid EJ - EDWARD JACOB - that was SOO..ughhhh...she loved edward..she knows jake loves her but she can't be with him - yet she can't tell him to go away and find some1 else..it's liek she wants to have both the cakes together... 7) mother ?? ok...i get the whole 'mom loving kid" thing..but hey..twilight was abt EDWARD BELLA..she claimed to love edward more than her life..yet where the hell did that love and trust go after the kid was born?? i mean she didn't confide in edward..she didn't TRRUST HIM...she trusted rosalie OVER EDWARD..she reduced edward to a doormat..to a spineless husband who goes around asking other guys to sleep with hsi wife... i mean WHAT THE HEY?? Helloooo is this Bellaaa?? REALLLYY?? 8) i agree edward cullen IS THE BEST GUY EVER... but hey like u said - bella needed to get some life of her own! i mean yeah fine love on one side, but she treated her own family, her friends, her careeer, her future, even her LIFE (humanity) as a peice of cake..ok that is just so so wrong.. so i HATE BELLA SWAN! oh and i hate breaking dawn!

anna0789 great !! i love it i also hate bella and what i hate most is that she has become like the best role model for teenage girls like are you kidding me???? whats next "o mom i want to get marry and have a baby just when i get out of high school because am REALLY in love with this guy he is my soulmate" yeah great role model and she IS THE MOST SELFISH girl i ever seen thank goddness some girls notice that!!!!

The 100 Year Old Virgin

Lately, I've heard and seen jokes and comments about Edward being "pathetic" or "gay" because he was a 100 year old virgin. I've written this article to state that I see no problem in him being a virgin. I feel that virginity is not something to poke fun at. It simply means that someone wants to save themselves for that special someone whom they are going to spend the rest of their life with. I myself am a virgin and plan to stay that way until I get married.

Pet Peeve: Name Mispellings

This is a short little rant, people.

I don't know about you, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when people spell my name wrong.

On Fanpop, I've gotten ranrea, renre, renray, ranraa, and many others. In real life, I've gotten Reagan, Regon, Regen, Reagen.... and people are always misspelling my last name (I'm not displaying that here.)

One thing I've noticed on Fanpop (and many other fansites, as well) is that people often fail to spell Stephenie Meyer's name right. That's right: StephEnie, with an E right there. Not an 'a'. An 'e'.

Why I Dont Like Stephanie Meyer As An Author

For people who were expecting this article to be earlier, really sorry about that! But I've been getting ready for school(WAH!), so...you get the point.

So, this article(as you can obviously see from the title) is about Stephanie Meyer. Oh yes, I'm pretty sure you've heard of her. The author of the Twilight Saga and the Host, she's pretty much one of the most popular writers at this point. Why?
I really don't know.
