I am so sorry I haven't updated in a while!! I've had so much stress from school and apparently kissing is wrong in school so I got my electronics taken away. Please forgive me and enjoy.
Courtney's POV:I was done. Done with my parents. Always judging me and never listening to me. Done. I walked upstairs to my room and shut the door behind me. I grabbed a pen and paper then wrote a note to my parents saying that I was done and moving out. I set the pen and paper down on my nightstand and grabbed a bag to pack my stuff. I packed my bed sheets, clothes, and a couple pairs of shoes. I ripped off the note and went back downstairs. I looked around the corner to see that my parents fell asleep on the couch watching TV. I tiptoed into the kitchen a put the note on the fridge as a magnet held it there. I quietly grabbed my car keys off the key holder hook and slowly opened the back door. I shut the door behind me, got in the car and drove off. I started to think of places to go. If I went to Bridgette's, her parents would tell my parents and then I'd be forced to move back in with my parents. I'm 20 years old. I think I'm done growing up. I've always wanted to live in Florida though. Before I made a final decision, I called Bridgette.
"Hello?" Bridgette answered.
"Hey Bridgette. It's Courtney." I said.
"Oh, hey. What's up?" she said.
"I've moved out of my parents house." I said.
"Really? They let you?" Bridgette asked.
"Well, no. Not exactly. I kinda just packed my stuff and left." I said.
"Well where are you gonna go?"she asked.
"That's why I called you. I'm thinking about Florida. And I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me." I said.
"Well Florida does have some pretty rad waves in Miami. And the weather is pretty nice. I'm in. I'll start packing now."Bridgette said.
"Cool. Thank you. I'll be there in a hour. Bye." I said then hung up.
I put my phone in the console and continued driving. When I arrived at Bridgette's, she was almost done packing. She came out to the car, put her bags in the back, and got shotgun.
"You brought your board too?" I asked.
"Heck yeah. It's Florida. You gotta board yet?" Bridgette asked.
"Nah. I told you I quit." I said.
"Yeah, but you could always start surfing again."she said.
"I 'll thing about it." I said then started driving.
I've been driving for seven and half hours now. Bridgette and I have taken turns driving but I've done most of it. It's 2 in the morning and I started driving at 5 in the afternoon. We're almost in Miami and I can tell Bridgette is getting excited.
"I can't wait to hit that first wave!" she said.
"I remember that feeling." I said.
"Doesn't Duncan live in Miami!" Bridgette asked.
Duncan. I forgot all about him. I haven't seen him since I was 15. I lived in Florida 5 years ago with my parents but then I moved back to Georgia and met Bridgette. Bridgette has told me about when she lived in Florida but not in Miami. She lived in Destin. That's where she met Geoff. She fell in love but then had to move.
"Uh, yeah. I think he still does." I said trying not to blush.
"Ooooooo. You're blushing." Bridgette said giving me a funny look.
"Well you know Geoff lives in Miami now. I hear him and Duncan are best buddies." I said.
For a second Bridgette was quiet.
"What?! Geoff is in Miami?! YES!" Bridgette said throwing her hands in the air and her feet hitting the dashboard.
"Careful or the airbag will deploy." I said.
"Sorry. Oh, I remember Geoff! He was the sweetest, most chill, caring, lovable, funny, and and carefree guy. Oh, I miss him already!" Bridgette said.
"Yeah." I said.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Bridgette asked.
"Nothing. It's just, I think Duncan and I left each other on a wrong note. I mean, we're best friends. I know that I haven't talked to him in a long time, but I don't know. We tried to have a relationship, but it's kind of hard to date somebody that you think you'd never have a relationship with and you've known them since you were in diapers. I just don't know how it's gonna be between us. Awkward or something else." I said.
"Well do you know if he's single or not?" Bridgette asked.
"I think he is. But on his Facebook, it says that he's in a relationship. Either he actually is in a relationship or he hasn't gotten on Facebook in a while." I said.
"Oh, so you do stalk his Facebook?" Bridgette said.
"No, I do not stalk his Facebook. I was just curious and wondering if he was still alive." I said.
"Well maybe it will be okay between you two. And better yet, do you know if Geoff is single?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Yes, Bridgette. He's single."
I looked over at her and saw a hug grin on her face as she made an excited noise.
