Users have been picking their least favorite character for each round. Thank you to all of you who took part in this countdown! So here are the results:

19. The Matchmaker
Too skinny ... not good for bearing sons.
Too skinny ... not good for bearing sons.

I was so surprised this stern lady or man left first... yeah not really. Nobody liked her because she is the most loathsome character in the movie and she isn't truly important to the plot to begin with.

Comments
''I could see the movie doing very well without even exposing the audience to the matchmaker, let alone her snobbish, inconsiderate tendencies. Mulan could have just walked out of her place where the reception was held in a minor mood, distressed, broken and overall down which would have been enough of an indication that something went wrong.''
- maryksand

''Possibly the worst character in a Disney Princess movie. She's definitely up there, regardless.''
- Mongoose09

18. Little Brother
Mulan: Who's the smartest doggy in the world? C'mon, smart boy! Can you help me with my chores today?
Mulan: Who's the smartest doggy in the world? C'mon, smart boy! Can you help me with my chores today?

He's one of the good guys, nobody detested him but yet again, nobody loved him. The movie would've been the same without Mulan's dog. He's a forgettable character and his character design isn't anything great either.

Comments
''He's pointless to the plot development, he's not structured as a character, and his animation kinda looks like a kid drew him.''
- Flutey_Girl96

''The dog is just useless. I have rather an unlikable character who works in the movie as an useless one.''
- Swanpride

17. First Ancestor Fa
Go! The fate of the Fa family rests on your claws.
Go! The fate of the Fa family rests on your claws.

I guess people just didn't like him.

Comments
''I'm not too keen on him.''
- BelleAnastasia

''He hated Mushu.''
- princecatcher93

16. Chi Fu
Insubordinate ruffians! You men owe me a new pair of slippers! And I do not squeal like a girl.
Insubordinate ruffians! You men owe me a new pair of slippers! And I do not squeal like a girl.

He plays a pretty big role in Mulan, I don't think he should've left so soon. Some say he was funny and entertaining, others just hated him. No wonder his name means ''to bully''.

Comments
''I like them all now including this guy but that's mainly because of yao's lyric singing to mulan in 'a girl worth fighting for'.''
- LatinoLollipops

''I love Chi Fu! I hope he doesn't leave.''
- Popcornfan

15. Falcon
Mushu: Now that's what I call Mongolian barbecue.
Mushu: Now that's what I call Mongolian barbecue.

He's kind of badass but all he does is act as Shan Yu's eyes and ears from the distance. And towards the end of the movie, he gets burned by Mushu, literally.

Comments
''The falcon's design was what was keeping me from choosing him before this guy.''
- LatinoLollipops

''Not really important or funny.''
- starlight77

14. General Li
Number one in his class, extensive knowledge of training techniques ... an impressive military linuage ... I believe Li Shang will do an excellent job...
Number one in his class, extensive knowledge of training techniques ... an impressive military linuage ... I believe Li Shang will do an excellent job...

He's not a very notable character. He's Shang's father but we didn't see much of a father/son relationship. More like a general/soldier relationship.

Comments
His character was pretty memorable but as everyone has already pointed out, he didn't contribute much to the story progression aside from being Shang's father and offering him a honorable position of a captain.
- maryksand

''I just dislike him, I have this irrational hate for him. I think its the way he seems to view Shang as an animal he is raising to win a prize in a fair. (Ok, that's not being fair to General Li, but that is the feeling I get from him.)''
- rhythmicmagic

13. Fa Li
It would've been warm if you were here on time.
It would've been warm if you were here on time.

She's motherly and a likeable character. It's really just that she's not important to the plot. She just helps Mulan bring ''honor'' to the family.

Comments
''She's a bit of a "nothing" character to me; I don't feel anything for her. She's simply just there.''
- milky-way

''The movie wouldn't be any different without her IMO (I'm not saying she's a bad character, just not one with massive impact).''
- Mongoose09

12. Ling
Come back here! I knew we were jerks to you before, so, let's start over. Hi, I'm Ling.
Come back here! I knew we were jerks to you before, so, let's start over. Hi, I'm Ling.

He's my favorite out of the human sidekicks because he makes me laugh the most. But he was a tease to Mulan and that's one of the reasons why I think some thought he was irritating. On the other hand, others loved him!

Comments
''Ling really deserves to go on further than this.''
- AllegroGiocoso

''I can't stand him.''
- BraBrief

11. Cri-Kee
Mushu: What? What do you mean you're not lucky? You *lied* to me?
Mushu: What? What do you mean you're not lucky? You *lied* to me?

He's cowardly and brave at the same time. He helps Mushu a lot and has his funny moments but I think that's about it.

Comments
''Cri-Kee is important! It totally cracks me up that he thinks he isn't lucky, but nevertheless everyone has luck in this movie.'' ''I think it's kind of funny that Cri-Kee is a side kick for a side kick.''
- Swanpride

''He may be cute and a bit funny, but he doesn't have a lot of quality characteristics.''
- Flutey_Girl96

10. Khan
Mushu: If I was my real size, your cow here would die of fright.
Mushu: If I was my real size, your cow here would die of fright.

I disagree with people who say he wasn't important, he saved Mulan and Shang during the avalanche. Most horses are helpful actually and he is one intelligent one. I love the chemistry between him and Mulan. But he doesn't have much character and it's obvious why.

Comments
''Khan has to go, he is really funny but he isn't an important character. Sorry Khan.''
- shanyuisboss

''Khan doesn't have a huge impact on me either, but he makes me laugh.''
- Mongoose09

9. Yao
And I am Yao, king of the rock!
And I am Yao, king of the rock!

People weren't too fond of him, he is hot tempered and clumsy. He can be very funny but there's not a lot of good things to say about him just like the other two.

Comments
''I like the three as a team, but as seperate characters...not so much.''
- Swanpride

''Eh bit of an idiot.''
- milky-way

8. Chien-Po
Ooh, ooh, sweet-and-pungent shrimp
Ooh, ooh, sweet-and-pungent shrimp

He's the kindest of the trio so I suppose that's why he got further. He's really pacify and loves food. A woman who can cook is the most attractive thing to him. The one thing he did that was very helpful was pick up all the soldiers to save Mulan and Shang.

Comments
''I find him kind of annoying.''
- BelleAnastasia

''Boring character.''
- BraBrief

7. The Emperor of China
A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat.
A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat.

He didn't do much, that was shown in the movie that is. He has some of the best quotes in Mulan but that can only get you so far. He has very good judgement and he's pretty funny. He's the one who told Shang to go after Mulan and it looks as if he secretly dislikes Chi Fu too, poor Chi Fu.

Comments
''Not really a huge fan of him. He says one of the best lines in the movie, "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all" but other than that I can't connect with him as a character.''
- Mongoose09

''I'm not so impressed with the Emperor. He has his moments, though...''
- Popcornfan

6. Fa Zhou
My, what beautiful blossoms we have this year. But look, this one's late. But I'll bet that when it blooms, it will be the most beautiful of all.
My, what beautiful blossoms we have this year. But look, this one's late. But I'll bet that when it blooms, it will be the most beautiful of all.

He is war veteran and a strict traditional father. Honor is one of the most important things to him. Though he is still sympathetic since he comforts Mulan after she failed the Matchmaker's test. There are moments where he is just the sweetest father and other moments where he is not so sweet. The father-daughter scene at the end was so touching.

Comments
''Fa Zhou; Mulan's father has so many great lines and character development!''
- Popcornfan

''Doesn't have as much impact to me as the other characters. I like him, though.''
- Mongoose09

5. Shan Yu
The little girl will be missing her doll. We should return it to her.
The little girl will be missing her doll. We should return it to her.

One of the more terrifying Disney Princess villains! He's ruthless, merciless, confident and he cracks jokes at times. But people thought that he wasn't well developed and that he had no back-story.

Comments
''He has no character development, he's just a baddie who wants to take over China for no apparent reason - most good villains have a little of a back-story which could give us an idea as to why they're destroying the world or something like that, but this guy? None.''
- Flutey_Girl96

''He lacks presence for a villain.''
- Popcornfan

4. Grandmother Fa
Who spit in her bean curd?
Who spit in her bean curd?

She certainly isn't afraid to voice her mind and she has a spunky personality. She supposedly has a connection with the ancestors and she also provides comedic relief in the family. Pretty awesome character!

Comments
''Grandmother Fa is awesome, but compared to the rest of the characters, left in the countdown, she doesn't really do much or say anything of utter importance.''
- BelleAnastasia

''Grandmother Fa is a really memorable side character, despite having not particular much screen time.''
- Swanpride

3. Shang
Captain Li Shang. Hm. Leader of China's finest troops. No, the greatest troops of all time.
Captain Li Shang. Hm. Leader of China's finest troops. No, the greatest troops of all time.

One sturdy and strict captain/soldier. He likes getting things his ways. He is reserved and thoughtful at the same time. He changed his views in a believable way, there's really more to him than meets the eye. I think that he has one of the best voices and that he also sings one of the most exciting songs of Disney.

Comments
''Shang is hot ;) but also a good person, teacher and warrior.''
- Flutey_Girl96

''I love the development of his character. I love how he starts out with being captain kind of going to his head, but in the end you see he's a really selfless guy with a great heart. He's a really strong leader, and I love his character development.''
- rhythmicmagic

2. Mushu
Did you see those Huns? They popped out of the snow, like daisies!
Did you see those Huns? They popped out of the snow, like daisies!

Mushu is Mulan's closest companion but they are opposites. He is in most situations comical, overconfident, and impulsive. He also strives to be one of the family guardians again and it worked out in the end. I don't know what the creators were thinking when they made Mushu but he turned out to be such an interesting character.

Comments
I love Mushu too very much, his changing during movie, he is funny and actually deserves his own sidekick :)
- fiina

He is entertaining, but he can get in the way sometimes, and I personally prefer Cri-Kee.
- rhythmicmagic

1. Mulan
The Emperor: I've heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan. You stole your father's armor, ran away from home. Impersonated a soldier. Deceived your commanding officer! Dishonored the Chinese army! Destroyed my palace! And!... You have saved us all.
The Emperor: I've heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan. You stole your father's armor, ran away from home. Impersonated a soldier. Deceived your commanding officer! Dishonored the Chinese army! Destroyed my palace! And!... You have saved us all.

She is autonomous, modest, valiant and dogmatic. She was willing to give up her life to save her father's and go through some intense training. It supposedly takes a lot of testosterone to succeed in the army but Mulan managed to use her brain instead. She also saved everyone twice and don't think Shan Yu was an easy target. She is highly intellectual. She was insecure, felt like a failure and did not know her place and I'm sure most can relate to her. She is just one of the most astute and cunning characters I can think of.

Comments
''Brave, loyal, funny, and a kick butt hero! I love her, she is an amazing role model. She is definitely a realistic character that everyone can relate to!''
- shanyuisboss

''Mulan is awesome. Despite her insecurities she saved her father's life and saves China. She is also very smart and funny which makes her relatable.''

13th Place
13th Place
My opinions change every few years. One thing that hasn't changed yet is the top three. I can switch them around but no other princess has become apart of the trio and none of the trio have fallen to 4th place or lower. This isn't just about DP fashion, character personalities and my personal favourites. It's about relation. If a particular style is similar to my own comfort zone, type of clothing, clothing colours, etc. I will comment on it. Enjoy!

13) Merida

I like celtic dresses and celtic flower designs. They're very pleasing to the eye. But I prefer purple and red dresses. Merida's Princess...

If you've never seen it, "Frozen - A Musical Feat. Disney Princesses" is a Youtube video by Youtube user AVbyte. To form an opinion on it, you should watch it at this link: link

I already posted a not-so-popular forum post about it, which I quote here: "Has anyone seen the video "Elsa- I Don't Need a Man"? In this video, Elsa sings to the classic-er princesses (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine) It infuriates me for two reasons.

1. She shames the other princesses for falling in love/wanting to fall in love. For one, not all of them were lovesick ninnies- Belle and Jasmine...

In lines with the amazing articles written by link, link & link, I wanted to make my own article about favorite things from DP films. Narrowing it all down was really hard for me so I decided to combine things into groupings so I could give overall things from the DP films. I hope you guys enjoy!

10. Animal Friends/Sidekicks:
I always thought that the DPs having animal friends was the cutest idea. I like the "unrealistic" elements of fairy tales because they're not supposed to be real, that's why they are "fairy tales". I always liked the idea of animal friends helping cook, clean, sew, etc....

Welcome to me ranking Fanpop's most heroic Disney Princesses in my opinion!

I also want to say, this is the first time in a while that I have written a DP article since I have taken a break from fanpop and I have been so busy. I have been on this site for two years and I am so happy to be back on here writing a new DP article!

When ranking them by how heroic they are, it was hard, because not all of them saved their country or prevented a war, but there are different forms of heroism. Even helping other people with their emotions or problems can be heroism. Working hard to achieve your goals...

At long last, here is the interview with our February 2015 Fan of the Month, wavesurf!

1. How does it feel to be Fan of the Month?

It was unexpected, actually. I was pretty surprised. I'm not on here as often as some people, and I don't make as much of a contribution as some other really, really active members...so it was a surprise for me. But a good surprise. I thank you all!!!! :D

2. Your favorite Princess? Why?

One of my favorites is Ariel, from when I was a kid. I still relate to her, and she only ever got bumped down one spot. The reason for that was a change in 1998, after I saw Mulan. Mulan...
