Inspired by Kataralover's video; link I decided to type up a little thing. To be honest I'm rather surprised to type this one as I actually don't really care for Cinderella. However I don't really agree with a lot of the reasons for her character being hated. I guess you can say that I don't hate Cindy, I don't even dislike her...I just like the other princesses better. The reason I don't care for her centers around the fact that I find her movie boring and therefore can't find her character as fun--hopefully Helena Bonham Carter can spark life into her movie. Anyhow I'm kind of getting off topic so I'll get into the defense part.

One of the things that I see kind of often in way of people bashing Cinderella is that she simply sits around and takes the abuse that comes her way--basically she can't defend herself.
I do not think this is true...not entirely. At first she seemed to sit around just waiting and hoping for a miracle. But honestly, I actually do think that that's justified as the movie was about hope and keeping faith. It's about being in a bad situation but never losing sight of the possibility that things can get better. The movie aimed to teach children that things sometimes can get better without them having to do anything but cling to hope. This hope eventually leads to taking action. And Cinderella did. While yes it took a push from her fairy Godmother, she did start to help herself. It takes guts to defy and go behind the back of an abuser, and she did. Sure the fairy Godmother granted her a dress and a carriage but what good would those do if she had no motivation and courage to put them to use.

That said, once she gets to the ball people complain that she fell in love way too quick. I actually feel like that's fine. It's a fairy tale and fairy tales are supposed to have happy 'love-at-first-sight' themes. It's what makes them magical. Most all of them have it, I don't know why one princess is being mocked for it over another. If you're going to knock Cindy for this why not go for Ariel or Aurora? Both also fell in love at first sight. Either accept one more or bash them all. Let's not forget Disney Princesses are to a degree aimed at younger children and are often one of the first movies they watch. I am in a children's literature course; some concepts I learned were to keep the content at an appropriate level, don't scare the child, and don't leave the child in distress. If distrust to the prince was shown it could confuse or bore a child. A very young watcher wants to believe that princes and princesses are all good and the bad guys are...well, bad. To make Cinderella misturstful of her prince would cause that confusion. And if she didn't marry the prince, at that time it's not unreasonable to assume she wouldn't have had her happy ending--simply because of the time period in which her movie takes place. And that is never good for children's movies. Children do not like unhappy endings. This is where I think the issue lies; like many Disney Princesses, the target audience is for young children. And yet so, so many teens and adults still love and enjoy the princesses just as much as the target audience. This said, Disney can't have out-right dark themes--they usually use subtly and it's hard to make things like mistrust of men (in this case) subtle. So they use love-at-first-sight, most-people-are-good themes. And besides isn't love at first sight simply a wonderful classic?! :D I don't see anything wrong with believing in love at first sight.

People also seem to believe that she's weak and therefore anti-feminist. I actually don't think this is true. I mean if she was weak and anti-feminist then she probably wouldn't have even tried to escape her situation. But she did. Her opportunity was presented and she took it. A weak, passive, anti-feminist character probably wouldn't act on a presented opportunity. I think Cindy was simply waiting for the right moment--and that moment came in the form of a lovely fairy Godmother. As kataralover mentioned, she may not be fiery and spunky like Ariel or Jasmine but she still holds her own. Just because she isn't bluntly sassy and feisty doesn't mean she's helpless. Strength comes in many forms; Cinderella is the holder of mental and intelligent strength. Kataralover also mentioned in his video that Cinderella lives in a time period in which women don't have a lot of power or control. And it's rather true. So that means she has to be smart about her defiance and smart about how she helps herself and breaks away from the abuse. She was smart enough to wait for a good moment and strong enough to latch onto the opportunity when it came. So what about the times leading up to her grand breakaway? This is where mental strength comes in; it takes so, so much to hold out and keep your head up when you are in such a dark situation like the one Cindy was in. She was strong enough to take what they dished out and still be a loving, kind-hearted girl.

This said Cindy is a great role model. No matter what evils the stepmother and stepsisters dished at her, she stuck to her morals and didn't let them change who she was just to please them. Is it not great to teach a child...or anyone to be themselves? To not let people get the best of you? To keep your hope? To work hard for what you want? Cinderella does all of this and I think children need to be exposed to this kind of thing.

No personality is another thing I've noticed across the web. With the exceptions of Bella Swan and Bloom from Winx Club I think most all characters have some type of personality. Cinderella does have a personality; she's kind (in her treatment of the animals, those who treated her kindly in return, and even to her step-siblings despite it all), loving, sweet, determined (let's be honest, it takes motivation to get all of that insane house work done), hopeful (this is self explanatory), and something of a day dreamer. Now whether you like this personality or not is up to you. I don't know, but these traits seem cool to me.

All of this said, I'm not saying any of these reasons for disliking her are wrong, I just disagree. Cinderella may not be strong in the conventional ways but she still is strong. And while her movie isn't the best (imo), she is still a wonderful character and a stellar role model.

Now, Tiana's up. This was pretty easy. An honourable mention for Zoe Saldana, though quite honestly I don't see the resemblence. She would make a much better Kida.

5.Naturi Naughton
Some of you may know her from 3LW, she's the one who didn't join the Cheetah Girls. Now she's a successful broadway actress and played Lil Kim in Notorious. So clearly she can sing and act very well.

4.Rihanna
Everyone says she should play Tiana, I don't really think Rihanna looks like her. She has Tiana's smile, that's about it. But I think she could do the part, she really isn't a bad actress.

shocked actually, i didn't see the pick so ... !
and happy of course, thanks guys <3

2.Who's your favorite disney princess and disney prince, why?
Ariel, because she's amazing <3, i love her personality and the way she handles things, and if i were in her situations i would be wanting to do what she did but not actually do it, because i don't usually have the guts, she follows her dream without asking, and shows that it's okay to make mistakes, unlike everyone says, i don't think what she did was stupid at all, it's implosive, and if a giant octopus singing, i would...

Since everyone has one of these, I decided to do one. Please comment & enjoy! (:

10. Aurora - Sleeping Beauty
Maybe its because she only has sixteen minutes of screen-time. Or maybe because she has no personality. Whichever reason, Aurora is just a boring love crazed teenager whom I don't really care for. I do love her movie though.
Pretty as a picture, sweeter than a swisher, mad cause I'm cuter than the girl thats with ya.

9. Pocahontas - Pocahontas
I used to love Pocahontas, but after re-watching her movie a few times I found her to be a bit bland and...not very smart. I mean, it takes...

I have been here for a few months, and I noticed that I did not post my opinion of the weakest to strongest DP Film. Since it would not be fair to put all of these films together (as they were made in different times), I will do it in eras. The Renaissance Era is the era when the company was as successful and popular as they were in the Classic Era. This was also before the decline of traditional animation and before the treacherous Post-Renaissance Era, so I will be doing The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Mulan.

Here is Part 1 of this series: My Opinion on the...

One day, Jasmine was in a bad mood. She decided some brightly-colored jewelry might cheer her up but she couldn’t decide which color to wear. Just then a rainbow appeared. The colors made Jasmine feel happy. “I know! I’ll wear a rainbow jewelry,” she giggled. The only color jewelry Jasmine didn’t wear was her pearl bracelet. “It’s too plain,” she thought, putting in her pocket. Jasmine wanted to show Aladdin colorful look and headed to the market. She notices how happy everyone was. “Wow, your jewelry looks great,” said Aladdin. “It’s as cheerful as the rainbow!” Jasmine...

The six Disney Princess brides are the princesses we've seen in bridal wear on screen. This is my opinion on how beautiful each princesses clothing choices made them. This is my opnion, and you're entitled to your own. But I rarely see these kind of articles, so I decided to write one. Enjoy!

6. Ariel
I'm sorry Ariel. Your dress was a monstrosity. The grees detailing plus the glittering golden crown made you look like a Christmas decoration. Perhaps the angel they put on the tree. And those sleeves! Dear Goddess, those sleeves looked like they could swallow you alive. But all mistakes on...

All of the Disney Princess films are works of art. Every shot of every film is literally a piece of art. In this countdown, we celebrated the gorgeous art of all of the movies and looked at one of the most under-appreciated aspects of some of our favorite childhood films.

10. Tangled
Most people agreed that the animation in Tangled is impressive and visually stunning, however, it seems those on Fanpop prefer hand-drawn animation. Most of the comments that gave a reason for why they voted out Tangled involved the fact that Tangled uses CGI animation. Many people tried to avoid the issue, but in...

OK, first of all, I haven't seen the film. Unfortunately, due to my somewhat uncontrollable curiosity, I have seen spoilers of the ending and anything in between and as a result of this, I have discovered that Hans is in fact the villain of the movie and at the end, he is punched out by Anna, he is sent back home to be punished by his brothers, and on top of all that, Elsa proclaims that Weselton is no longer welcome in Arandelle.

OK, let me give my 2 cents about this right now......MAKING HANS THE BAD GUY WAS ABSOLUTELY STUPID!!!!! Why did Hans have to be the bad guy?! WHY?! Why couldn't Elsa...

I left all nostalgia behind so my list changed a lot. I guess it's also because when I first joined Fanpop, I only knew the Princesses on the surface level and I based my opinions on that. I also had to re-watch all the movies, I hope it won't change again for a while. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I'd love to argue if you disagree :) I like all of them so it's hard for me to put some at the bottom. Anyway, here goes.

So I've already made an article talking about why I love Elsa, Tiana, Snow White, Aurora, and Pocahontas, and thought why not make one for Anna next? I did a poll asking which article you'd most want to see from me next, and Anna won. Don't worry if I haven't made one for your favorite yet though, because I do plan on making one for every princess, since I do love them all. My bottom three might be a bit tough to write about though, but I'll try my best! Anyway, I'm rambling, let's get started!

In many ways, Anna has been overshadowed by her sister with the release of Frozen, and while...

I've noticed that there are actually a lot of similarities between these three girls and wanted to make an article about why they're all so similar. They're all in my top 5, as I think they're very similar and I'm going to say why, so let's goo! I'm not trying to convince you all to place them in similar places or that they're the same person or anything, just pointing out some similarities between the three of them.

They're Elegant, Yet Playful

These three are all very elegant; in the way that they handle themselves, in the way of their diplomacy and selflessness, yet they're also very playful....

The Best Era Countdown was a short two-rounds countdown I did last week. In Day 1, users chose their favorite era. In Day 2, users chose their favorite out of the remaining two.

3. Classic
(Princesses:Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora)

Unfortunately, the Classic era still seems to be the least favorite in the general concensus. The princesses of this era are criticized for being weak damsels-in-distress whose dreams revolve around a man. However, it's not as bad for them as it was before: you hardly see any bashing here. These princesses have been getting love for having the common qualities of...

So as some of you have known I've been doing a countdown for best Featured Disney Princess songs. I've wrapped it up about a week ago. Here's the moment about two of you have been waiting for, I'm proud to present Fanpop's favorite Disney Princess Featured Songs.

11. Someday my Prince will come

I can understand why this landed last place, please don't kill me for what I'm about to say, Silvereose1991. First off, it's a really old classic song, Walt Disney was new to such a sort. I for one really love it a lot, and so do others, just standing next to all the other Disney Princess songs it doesn't...

I know I have not been doing as much articles and countdowns as I used to, but things have gotten busy for me. I am trying to get back into my flow of constant participation, but it will take some time. Anywyas, by guessing what the title is, you know what I am going to talk about. This is by no way meant to insult fans or to completely throw a hate fest. It is just my opinion. 10 is the least overrated, and 1 is the most, and just because something is the least overrated, does not necessarily make it the most underrated.

Well I just realized haven't done this list yet, so I figured why not. My personal ranking of the princesses' outfits, and who better to judge womens' clothing than straight dude who barely even knows how to dress himself? I'll try to address each outfit of each princess. Well let's get this train wreck on the road.

10.Aurora
I know people are gonna give me hell for putting her at the bottom but I really don't like Aurora's clothes. Firstly, her peasant dress sucks to the extreme! The only good things about it are the corset and the skirt. Everything else is just boringly ugly, the color, the...

So I've been doing this countdown for the past two or so weeks and here are the results! Overall I'm very happy with them and think that they're pretty predictable for the most part. Thanks to everyone who participated and commented in the polls, your comments were very helpful! :D

11. Merida

It was oblivious going to be Merida or Ariel this round. Ariel got more votes, but Merida got more comments. People said that it was unforgivable that she tried to alter her mom in any way whatsoever, and others just said that she's simply the worst role model of the bunch.

13. MERIDA

Some people have the same type of relationship Merida and Elinor share. I argue with my mom all the time, ALL THE TIME. Though I can't say I really relate to Merida's personality and I wouldn't do anything Merida does. I might think about wanting to change what's coming...

Thanks to everyone who posted their picture(none of you are ugly!) and please don't get offended, from one picture it's really hard to create ful image of you and if you think something I wrote it's competely wrong it's just my stupidity. You know yourself the best :)
