Tonight! Tonight!
Tonight! Tonight!
Hi guys, since there was a poll about these 2 movies. It would be interesting if I were to compare both movies.

Pocahontas

Okay, many of you all know about her real-life story. However, in the Disney adaptation of her life. She first set eyes on John Smith, to whom she will save later on in the movie.
When I watched this film again, they remind me of both Maria & Tony due to the fact that they are of different ethnicity and difficult complications arose when both parties declare war with each other.
During the fight between John Smith & Kocuum, the scene resembles to the Rumble between the Sharks and the Jets. Only this time, John didn't died but was taken in by the tribe for falsely killing Kocuum. John was only injured at the end instead.
Nakoma reminds me of Anita, unlike the latter, Nakoma was not rape and being mocked by the others. She was more of a passive version of Anita, whereas Anita was more upset because Bernardo died at the hands of Riff.

West Side Story

This movie was a modern version of Romeo & Juliet and Pocahontas, only this time it's the Puerto Rican The Shark and the American The Jets. The songs are very amazing and catchy that I could not get them out of my head!
Secondly, I always feel bad for Anita because she tried to overcome her grief that Bernardo died and that she was raped afterwards by the Jets while passing the message to Tony. Only to passed the false one to them shortly after Doc came in time to stop them! Poor Tony got killed in the end by Chino.
Like Pocahontas, it also carries a message about racism and prejudice. Especially, during the ending when Maria gave her rant after Tony died. It was very heart-wrenching to watch!

Somehow, Somewhere!

Well, while both movies are very sad, especially West Side Story. Check both movies out and you will cry your heart out!

I dedicate this poem to all of you, who like myself, still believe. I love you all!

We’ve been fascinated with them since we were little girls.
Back when we wore our hair in ribbons and curls.
We longed to go to a fancy ball and wear a pretty dress.
Now our lives are full of worry and stress.
All we wanted was to be like the Princess in our favorite story,
A place filled with nothing but glory.
A place where true loves kiss can break the most evil of spells.
A land of happily ever afters and wedding bells.
Where the glass slipper always fits,
And a handsome Prince who finds it easy to commit.
It’s...

Sleeping Beauty was released on January 29, 1959 and was made due to the overwhelming success of Cinderella. Therefor the Disney Studios got right to work revisiting the fairy tale formula and developing a new version of the classic story. It was decided early on that this film would have to surpass its predecessing fairy tale films.
