OK, I gave in early, here's Chapter 2.
More Huddyness in this one.
Enjoy. =]
The daylight's fading slowly
But time with you is standing still
I'm waiting for you only
The slightest touch and I feel weak
I cannot lie, from you I cannot hide
And I'm losing the will to try
Wilson headed straight back to his office, anger built up inside of him. He had forgotten that Cuddy was in the next room yelling at House. His heart was beating so fast that he could hear it in his ears, and all other sound was blocked out.
Meanwhile, in House's office...
'House!! I want you to go down there and apologise. NOW!'
'Yes, mummy!'
'House! Don't piss me off even more!'
'It's hard not to try when you look so hot when you're angry.'
'HOUSE!!!!'
Cuddy gave up on yelling at him and collapsed in the chair opposite his desk. She was absolutely exhausted and couldn't deal with a stubborn House right now. For the first time, she openly cried in front of House, not even caring about letting her guard down. She just wanted him to do something right for once. She was fed up of saving his ass on every occasion just because he had too much pride to apologise. She was tired of his antics, his immaturity. She wished he would just grow up, even if it's just for a while. She spoke again silently, her voice stifled by broken sobs.
'House, please, just apologise....'
House promptly got up, with an unusual look of concern spread all over his face. He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze, then paused for a while wondering what he should say, never having seen Cuddy cry before, not quite knowing how to deal with this new situation. He was used to all the other types of emotions Cuddy went through but this, this he could never even consider happening because he didn't want it to happen to her of all people. He couldn't think of the right words and didn't want to say anything to upset her more so he gave her shoulder another squeeze and limped out to apologise to a patient for the first time. All in the name of Cuddy.
The next morning
House entered Cuddy's office, still feeling a little guilty for being the reason Cuddy had cried the previous day. He walked upto her desk with caution waiting for her to look up. He wanted to see the look on her face before he spoke, so he knew what tone of voice would be appropriate for this time. She looked up almost straight away and gave him a little smile, but it wasn't a smile full of happiness, but one full of pain and grief.
'Steve accepted my apology and won't sue the hospital now.'
He was just about to turn to leave when Cuddy stopped him realising something completely out of character for House.
'Steve? You know his name? His real name? Wow. House, that's....new. In a good way.'
She smiled again, this time a satisfied smile full of happiness. House just shrugged and walked out, not wanting to make a big deal out of it.
Meanwhile Wilson was in his office, having fallen asleep the night before with his head on his desk. He was jolted awake by a knock on his door.
'Come in.'
He knew it wasn't House, as he would never knock. Well, almost never.
'Allison?'
Cameron walked in with a smile and closed the door behind her. She chuckled slightly at Wilson when seeing his messed up hair and the piece of paper stuck to his cheek. He noticed her look in that direction and swiftly removed the piece of paper. He couldn't cover his embarrassment though, as his cheeks turned a bright shade of red, making her laugh even more.
'How's Chase?'
'OK, why?'
'Just. He seemed a bit pissed off with me, that's all.'
'Oh.'
'Yeah.'
'So, um, what were you doing here all night?'
'Oh, uh, just catching up on some paperwork.'
She knew he was lying but sensed he didn't want to talk about the real reason so she didn't ask any more questions concerning that.
'Anyway...um, I should go. I just wanted to say hi and see how you were doing...See you later.'
She quickly walked towards his door and turned the handle to leave, feeling that this moment was too awkward for her and that she was lost for words for the first time in ages. She was stopped short by Wilson's soothing voice.
'Ally?'
