Even though I was only a little kid-6 to be exact-I remembered that day well. Who wouldn't?! For a kid being seperated from your parents to go to kindergarten was torture but being kiddnaped! I cried myself to sleep every night! I better get a move on and start from the beginning before I tell you the ending already! My name is Ani Mayloan and this is my story.

I was so happy as I ran home from the bus stop. For two reasons: 1 that day was our last day of school 2 it was the first day the Wayhoo water park was open and my brother Jake, our nextdoor neighbor Kaylin, and I were going to swim this afternoon. I ran up the steps with a big smile on my face, and opened the door. I dropped my backpack down and gave Jake a big hug. "Hey there sis! Go get your swimsuit on! Kaylin will be here any moment. I nodded hapily and ran up stairs. I put my swimsuit and clothes overtop. The water park was close enough that Jake could just walk us over there. I ran down stairs to the sound of a doorbell. Kaylin's here! I thought. Jake grabbed the swim bag and we headed out. I was deep in thought about the water slides and the lazy river that only when we were out on the main road did I notice that a car was following us. Soon it stopped and the driver's window rolled down.

I am broken.
My body is broken.
I limp down the sidewalk.
People stare. Are they concerned? Or disgusted?
I wish I was invisible.
My family is broken.
My father disowns me.
My mother is disappointed.
I don’t know my brother at all.
My life is broken.
My friends are gone.
My job can’t support me.
I have nowhere to turn.
But my soul is unbroken.
I still believe in good.
I still have hope.
I still think the world can change.
I may be broken.
But my soul is not.
My body is broken.
I limp down the sidewalk.
